played and supported by regis, norman nodge, luke slater, jonas kopp, perc, dvs1, samuli kemppi, adam x, dimi angelis, jeroen search, markus suckut, rolando, pfirter, slam, edit-select, cassegrain, par grindvick, audio injection, tim xavier, drumcell and more. the m_rec ltd, has become one of the most interesting labels in the world techno scene after only eight releases. labels owner is max m! this time he shows an original track, pure sound signed m_rec ltd. a journey with a very deep sound. something that comes from his background, a walk through detroit, birmingham and berlin. a rhythm that is not heavy, repetitive riff that nullifies any inhibitions. it s definitely evil, its a reminder of the deep and pure techno.the first remix is signed by shifted (mote evolver)! one of britains most important artists on the scene. the sound becomes more intense and repetitive. the rhythm takes on a form of drum and hi-hat, classic techno. effects on riffs, amplify everything and they turn the track into a totally hypnotic pleasure. ascion (repitch / drumcode / synewave) is the artist of the second remix. being a promising youngster he has now become a reality. the sound is industrial, but without a heavy rhythm, more like background noises. reverb and effects that cancel themselves suddenly. the riff from far away is almost unrecognizable. a version definitely carefully devised and researched.

the first official release by the berlin duo, samanta fox aka daniel frank gizzie iii and jean-daniel tömör. they hold a residency in berlins famed salon - zur wilden renate where they do their bi-weekly whiskey tango foxtrott night. prior to being involved in samanta fox, jean-daniel was known as lazymouth with his partner thomas tietz. what a woman needs is the foxy duos first step into the production world together and encompasses what the boys to convey in their eclectic, yet forward thinking dj sets. a tr-808 tom driven bass-line and ghostly strings move the track along while a 909 high hat/kick drum combo keep the rhythm flowing.the b-side is a remix by the swift. the swift is also one of renates residents and his bi-monthly voyage voyage night brings a premium list of emerging artists to the berlin club scene. witness his swiftness take the foxs a-side to another level of house. a floor burner for sure.

although its their first official release since 2010s disco anthem bubble bath and its accompanying ep, the swiss have hardly been taking it easy. they have spent the past 12 months taking their live show on the road, playing club nightsacross the us and europe including philly banger making time, fixed in new york, social club in paris, the modular summer sundance in the uk, and gracing the sydney opera house stage for australias vivid festival.
in between shows, swiss members tony mitolo, luke godson, and producer donnie sloan have been steadily working on new material, with a full album expected in 2012. double or nothing, which was written in a hotel room straight after tony played glastonbury this year as part of empire of the sun, is the first taste of whats to come from the group.

the jivers is a production duo formed by the two french djs/producers don pascal and fred spider. having not known each other before, their paths first crossed when both of them had moved to barcelona in 2007. soon they discovered their common love for deep and soulful music ranging from jazz, funk, brazil to nu-jazz, broken beat or house. their debut single >do what< has already been featured on the jazz&milk breaks compilation and received amazing feedback and spins from djs all over the globe and was brought to an even broader audience after being included on several compilations such as >saint germain des pres cafe<. now the song is being re-released in form of the do what ep including a brand new track called >move on girl<, again featuring the unmistakable voice of anqui and remixes by dj moodz, don pascal and fred spider. the jivers music can be described as a dance-floor oriented fusion of jazz elements with modern beat productions including the colorful and melodic vocals of anqui.

stefan schutz aka juno6 belongs to the society of the leipzig new school, which for the last 5 years has cut a path through emotions and change in diverse regions. his particular real estate is comfortably between deeper house and thoroughly scrutinized techno. sometimes he tends in one direction, at other times the opposite. all the while juno6 captivates both listeners and dancers alike with something new. his live sets are always an occasion – sound expeditions in the most literal sense embedded powerfully, yet imminently fresh as they are bound to tradition. he even dials up the the ambient/electronic field with project beautiful planet earth, or together with friend daniel stefanik as sensual. the sonic awareness of juno6 is expressed consistently as a potent degree of warmth, which paints a distinct lively and long-lasting tone on club music. the tone is hardly useful as a flavor of the month, but rather, a music with stamina and character. his track >guununk< is for more than a few the quiescent highlight of the fat 5zig compilation. on his second from fat, he displays the juno6 portfolio fully and expands his present effect with a portion of funkiness and a sprinkle of pop – at least on one of the cuts. with clever vocals mr. schulz informs us yet again.

after a short production break, the russian techno duo easy changes (denis cast & kilrill silas) are back with a 12 inch on the berlin/london based label, mean records, run by cesare marchese (cesare vs disorder) & federico benedetti (onirik). the lion is also a good drummer fits in nicely with the labels love of minimal techno productions that feature original sounds, moody melodies and deep aural landscapes. easy changes gained recognition in 2007 with two back to back hit releases on foundsound records. in 2009, they were the first ep from nervmusic, a moscow based label that focuses on unconventional techno started by cast, silas and friends. seated comfortably between the avant-garde and the dancefloor, the release has something for everyone. the title track, the lion is also a good drummer is an epic, crawling minimal techno production filled with stripped down percussion and abstract found sounds perfect for after-hours. on the flipside is the uptempo, quirky and tribal burlesque, replete with spliced vocal samples, snares, cymbals, bleeps and claps. for the burlesque remix, french producer doubtingthomas shows off his lifelong obsession with percussion and its rhythmic allure with the addition of a trippy drum solo midway through the track.

james johnston is on a roll! after his very well received release on 4lux he now dives in even deeper territory with these four excellent us-inspired deephouse cuts. we have the dark sexy groover >a new day begins<, the sunny rhodes-driven >drive around the city<, the smoked-out >haze< and the hypnotizing late-night workout >why do they wanna go<. a masterclass in deep yet up lifting housemusic.

wow! what a year the wolf music crew are having. every release gets better and better. each time serving up a unique new offering from a variety of artists all with one thing in common: extremely high standard of production. all too often labels release good but not great music but wolf music is a testament to what searching high and low for the freshest artists with the best skills can really achieve. wolf ep 009 is no different. one often talks about real class produces and labels and buzz names and the next big thing … but only do a handful of labels ever live up to the manufactured hype they seem to receive. wolf music not only lives up to it but indeed outshines it. this ep is a must have for any dj/music connoisseur who truly knows their trade.

possibly the biggest release on off in 2011 so far! off 26 introduces two new talents to the label: berlin-based friends daniel dexter and nhan solo. they deliver >our thang<, a dead-funky discofied summer tune, based on samples which all lovers of 90ies hiphop will dearly remember. on the flip side, labelowner andre crom & martin dawson deliver a deeper, more linear interpretation, based around a mighty bassline and an epic slowdown in the main break. second remix comes from luca lozano & sacha robotti, who score with a raw and toolish groove, adding further elements of the sampled song and additional sweet vocals.

from the very outset, the m.c.d.e. remix of shit robots >answering machine< picks up in a completely different realm from marcus lambkins original, which appears on his 2010 debut, from the cradle to the rave. the stuttgart-based producer has replaced janine >planningtorock< rostrons slowly rising vocal opener with outerspace emanations that fade as they drift into a constellation of wide house grooves and deep bass. rostrons own pizzo remix is up next, and in (a)typical fashion, she takes the song and shifts its mood by clearing away the dancier elements of its predecessor in favor of a foundation of strings in every form: plucked pizzicato notes, low cellos tones, and high pitched violins that flit through. last up is another rostron creation, the whisper remix, which actually outpaces lambkins version in bpm, but is lighter all the same. here, she uses synths almost as a wash of white noise – a whisper, if you will – and only drops heavier vocals here and there along the songs rustling path.

russia is a cold country, but it seems that volta cab has created an underworld in his hometown, where he creates, creates and dont stop creating dance music with a warm, acoustic and timeless point of view. konstantyn gives us for this fourth release, three original tunes where acoustic are mixed with synthetics as no one ever had done and gives us details that only come to those music lovers who are never satisfied with a simple rhythm. this time the fiakun boys have two pure elite remixers, such as daniel bortz and ene! which they have remixed >be madly in my love< with their own perspective and initiative.

the topic of >salome< fits the two producers kadebostan and laolu from switzerland perfectly. just listen to their prior releases on freude am tanzen, fenou or clap your hands. the melodies sway back and forth - dreamy and full of peace. the rhythm group plays along and only the most necessary things. and even though the vocal phrases retain their own character, they blend into this musical structure as if they were made for these tracks. the a and the b face show a masterly crafted arrangement. it would be a mistake not to listen to the whole, as one would miss the feeling to let yourself go. as usual, the lovingly designed 10inch record is a limited edition and numbered by hand

for this 11th release, we give you the opportunity to grab 3 fantastic trax done by todays hottest producers : massimiliano pagliara & rotciv. massimiliano p. has been responsible of delivering some of the best electronic tracks in those recent years on great labels such as balihu, rush hour, live at robert johnson & needwant. he teamed up for this special release with rotciv (from brazil) who made a name for himself with his special edits & has a very busy year with some upcoming 12 inches on d-edge, mister mistery & rebirth. their name is the rimshooters present >tha jackin theory< !!! heavily inspired by roland 909 chicago mythic drum machine, those guys deliver here 3 anthems, very close in spirit to tensnake & lee foss best work.. their sound is firmly rooted in proto-house and 80s r&b. with ingredients like ancient drum machines, arpeggiated melodies, and 80s pads, their connection boils over with a certain cheekiness that makes listeners grin from ear to ear. those 3 tracks have lots of groove and solid bouncy disco house beats and that piano (mmmhhh !!!). vocals arent the main event here but they do add another level showing some true disco production skills. this is surely going to be one of the biggest release this year & yep, you read right - this is only their first installment! stay tune

pirahnahead and diviniti, these names are synonymous with quality dance music. since 2004s >find a way< they have been two of dance musics most prolific songwriters (and even co-wrote a few songs for les nubians on their 2011 full length >nu revolution<). with each release they have provided powerful production, smooth vocals, angelic harmony, and overall, musical excellence. this time, the super collaborators return to the foreground with one of the best tracks of 2011, >(just like)a dream<. as the sixth release from whasdat music, this soothing track has been supported by the likes of vinny da vinci, ian friday, paris cesvette and neil pierce as well as phil asher (who included it on soul heavens miami sampler mix). also, joining in as remixers are charles webster and jose carretas. both have previously collaborated with pirahnahead & diviniti, topping charts on traxsource.com. (charles websters >learning to love me< and jose carretas >life in a box<). this release is a sure-fire floor rocker and a must have for any dj.

walls alessio natalizia and sam willis dont deal in perfect wholes. the kompakt duo return swiftly on the back of 2010 s critically lauded self titled debut, an album that picked up mojos coveted electronic album of the year, featured in nmes end-of-year lists, not to mention winning fans such as of jamie xx, caribou, james holden and impressing us trio battles so much that they have invited the pair on tour around the us this coming october. yet it isnt these admittedly impressive accolades that make the announcement of second lp >coracle< such an anticipated one, what makes walls so alluring is the fully immersive experience of their mellifluous electronica – reaching out far and wide to pull influences sonic, emotional and theoretical together into patterns of blissful phantasmagoria. taking their debut as the prototype, willis and natalizia have taken those initial early-sunrise evocations and pushed them to even more grandiose expanse.<br /including cd version of this album.

perc traxs transatlantic duo donor / truss return to the label for the follow-up to their >indifference ep< which was released at the start of 2010. since then they have recorded and remixed for a number of high-profile labels, most notably stroboscopic artefacts to which donor contributed an ep to the labels renowned monad series whilst truss appeared on the remix ep the preceded lucys debut album.
the four tracks that form >endo< represent a new peak for the donor / truss sound with each individual section working as both a self-contained track and a quarter of the entire endo experience. together the 4 parts join together to make a complete piece of music, stretching across 23 minutes and 2 sides of vinyl.

killekills next release comes from snuff crew, a crew you might and should have heard about. snuff crews mission is to bring back the fun on the dancefloors worldwide. the masked duo is known for their jacking live shows that combine the raw energy of early chicago and acid house with a fresh and modern sound. rumour has it that they come from >somewhere in germany<, but their sounds draw a very heavy influence from the original acid house city of chicago alongside italo-disco and old school techno flavours. the use of old school roland boxes as sound sources and almost non existent use of even basic effects means their sound is rough, raw and aimed squarely at the dancefloor. their records have been released on labels like skylax, gigolo records, rush hour, playhouse and many more, but the two guys also run their own imprint called snuff trax where they release music of jackmates like kink and neville watson as well as their own tracks and collaborations with artists such as legendary robert owens. thats enough for now with the name dropping. killekill has got a lot of great exclusive material from the guys but decided to release only two very strong and distinctive tracks for now: domo on the one side is a proper acid monster that will go down on dancefloors worldwide like a hurricane and leave the dancers breathless. eat this on the other side is a rudimentary chicago jack track that might well have been taken off a dance mania record from 1992. this track is working its way with nothing but a few drum tracks and a vocal sample and is pure raw sexual energy.

our favorite guys from athens return to we are after some time, and with some super tight beats as well! fact of the matter is, that we for this one occasion chose to go with a full 12 inch instead of our standard club tracks 12 inch format simply because we needed all these three tracks to fit – good job! already passed the floor-test at many clubs and people are really feeling this superglued tightly produced rhythms mixed with old school disco house, they are held back and sneaky, and at the same time accesible and open to groove – just the way we like it!

from the >whistle while you work< opening of >zimbabwe<, the summer grooves of >tapioca< to the dramatic crescendo of >oceans<, new navys debut >uluwatu< ep demonstrates the australian bands powerful songwriting ability and consistent style. new navy balance sparkly guitars with front man ben mcinernys smooth vocals, delivering strong bass-lines and breezy indie grooves to great effect. they have received impressive early support from radio and media with comparisons to foals, the whitest boy alive and cold war kids when talking about this promising young 4 piece.

troy pierce, marc houle & magda team up to present their first ever trio release on items & things, >down & out vol 1< - which takes its name from their newly created party series - events that are based around the dark & intimate, off the radar, and under the ground. troy pierce starts things off with >majikal<, introducing the eps dark magic with a climbing bassline, scattering, almost anxious percussion and buoyant sound effects panned throughout. ominous atmospheres and weighted textures produce a cinematic accompaniment to surveyors of uncharted terrain. building a continual tension-and-release cycle, the track is a lucid whirlwind of sonic imagery and trickery, balancing visceral sounds with the otherworldly. magda teams up with suade, a producer & friend from newcastle that we are sure to see more of, together they bring forth a true builder, a creeper, the type of track that reveals itself more with each layering sequence. a masterclass in dynamics, >fixation< is a dark groove thats haunted by a chilling vocal, wavering synth vibrato, unexpected melodies, and juxtaposes of funk. angular drums hit alongside swells of percussive echoes but, the focus of the track revolves around the bassline’s movement. as catchy as it is esoteric. marc houles >slowpe< ends the ep with a slightly slower pace, but in a disconcerting way: taking it down a few notches this one that transports the listener to the strangest dimension yet. filtered melodies start the tracks ascent, sounding like a trumpet thats been bent out of shape and played from the void. with dark textures compactly knit into a condensed wall of sound, a low-slung bassline trades places with eerie chords and sparse percussion

b-tracks, aka soren jahan & john barera release their debut ep on their new imprint. the two musicians and record collectors worked together to make >specialize<, a rolling house cut made for the dancefoor & road tested at their gigs. with >day to night<, they go deep with a warm and melodic tune that still makes you get up. their rough and ready production style continues to shine in house workout >jump on it<.
on the flip, >progress< is a relentless techno cut with a raw analog sound and a mind of its own. finishing off the record is >your love<, a climactic and synth driven track in the spirit of early electronic dance music.

so we went predominanlty stateside for our last outing, and decided to bring things back home this time. hoya003 is a strictly uk affair. opening up on the a-side is one of rudest producers and djs the uk has going for it. this aint a comment on her manners though, they are as impeccable as her production. after ikonika sent us a zip of some hoya potentials, we just knew >fleas< had to be the one featured on this 12 inch. a more sinister, rolling, emotional jam, it still packs as much as punch as ikonikas dj sets. kicking off the b-side is the homie om unit. now, this guy … this guy. are there any superlatives left to desribe his sonic masterpieces that have rocked too many dancefloors and had as many producers scratching their heads and re-assessing their mix-downs? an instant favourite, >fibonnaci 10< was one of the earliest cuts lined up for a release and when you listen you will see why. this guy. seriously. bringing things to a close, we hand over to one of our favourites from the flourishing cardiff scene. why doesnt monky have more music out? is one of those questions that has been asked too many times for our liking. so much so, we may have to take it upon ourselves to change that. but, for now, just enjoy >hipster<. a killer synth-laden nod to early ukg, but looking forward as opposed to sideways. enjoy.

new year deal - purveyors of maximal minimalism in bass music, crushington explore the mid-tempo soundworld of dubstep. inspired to step outside of their box by a face-melting new years eve performance from skream and benga, for the last two years, crushington have sonically sculpted their own, well-received take on dubstep. lacking a developed knowledge of the genre, their unaffected explorations into different tempos and grooves have caught ears everywhere, leading to dj support from n-type, jakes, emalkay, distance, seven, truth, bulletproof, datsick, excision, hatcha and headhunter. along the way, they have collaborated with, or remixed for black sun empire, spl, truth, optimus gryme and bulletproof. with high profile support and collaborations boiling over left right and centre and several boutique vinyl releases to their credit, dj bookings across new zealand and australia have come quickly and to lauded receptions. old school producers and djs from the era of vinyl and by ear engineering, their sonic fidelity has seen their crushington tunes described by the likes of antiserum as the perfect studio mixdown reference. to put it in simpler terms, crushingtons subwoofer rupturing arrangements are fast becoming a standard setter with in the international dubstep community, where things go next from here though, only time will tell.

music always played a significant role in the life of javier viudez and rainer serrat and the quest for the music made them leave their hometowns mallorca and barcelona and move to london where they met each other and started sharing a studio in 2004. constant flow of releases on labels like serialism, safari electronique, vinyl club and serious club gigs followed. here javier and rainer kick off a new chapter and team up for 4 tracks, tales of lost memories and other-worldiness of early morning hours, that were some of the best kept secrets of loco dice sets this summer. the repetitive title track “scusas” with its hypnotic, scale wandering staccato bassline, >rainer nostalgia< with its uplifting vocal shouts, the timberlake infected, driving >nuevo cedar< or any other piece of this collection, these boys seem to have a golden hand for stripped down grooves

after only just recently raising our glasses to our 50th upon you release, heres number 51 just waiting in the bleachers…so basically we are on our way to number 100. our italian friends re-up have rustled up this very promising release called >the new mood ep<. why the name ? i hear you ask. well these two tech-house experts have dug deep to give us a1 with its ecstatic drum rolls in >darkness< , a2 gives us the title track with its dubby-chordy kind of sound, like magically pulling the reins on an indian horse. >what else< they ask themselves on b1 while they gallop over the uy parcour to end this little journey with >so good< on b2.

the a12 motorway was wrapped in complete darkness. the lights of the windmills were blinking in the rhythm of the rotor blades passing by. they appeared just before sunrise. no one had ever seen this kind of creature ever before: red flashing, and bright shining alien butterflies attracted by the windmills. people stopped, and got out of their cars to watch this spectacle. the flying creatures were constantly creating new, kaleidoscope-like formations, and slowly, and very softly at first, they started singing. and although nobody really understood their behaviour, everybody understood their wistful and hopeful song.

his single comes to people that make the music records from one of house musics most eminent production teams: first ibiza lady alla farmer, mateo & matos and ukrainian singer and producer vincent inc, chris gray from deep4life, jazzy house veteran john crockett and uplifting deep king brendan mccarthy aka aquatherium. though not stereo-typically their style, this set of tunes give good credence to their soft house music production ability. they set the scene for sounds entering as a funky bassline, squealy guitar riff, and classic 4/4 drum loop. john remix consist mainly of dubby bubbly conga rhythms, cosmic chords, floaty synths, musical saw tones and a nice rubbery bassline. aquatherium remix is pure non-intrusive, house music that is great for the sunset beach session or even the roller disco! chris & alla made eclectique deep house which is just a dope! the remixed single tracks have been mixed together to give it a beefy blend that would be perfect for the floor of many poorly lit dance dwellings. people that make the music has stepped forward with a brilliant ep of insatiable grooves.

mr raoul k and baobab secret take the next step and put out new remixes of >le karantkatrieme peul<. prisme are a belgian duo (nicolas pepinster and yves theys) who started to produce their own material in 2010. they liked the title track so much that they remixed it and sent the result to mr raoul k who instantly fell in love with the melodic and laid back approach they took on it. this lush piece makes a perfect entry into a long night out, promising that every piece will fall into place. the other production crew featured on this release are the iklawa brothers (mzwandile nxasana and sandile magwaza) who run their own label in durban, south africa. they are big fans of mr raoul ks work and have been dropping his tunes in their sets on a regular basis. their remix is a dark, afrobeat driven tune that takes the listener on a long trip into a gloomy world full of surprising musical twists, dramatic changes of mood and impressing string sounds. the last remix is done by mr raoul k himself. he shows a new side of his musical skills. resulting in an epic track that seems to dance on tiptoes around a giant beast. one small step. hesitate. check carefully what happens. do not disturb. just watch in astonishment how it slowly awakes and stretches out to its full glory. a track that is full of hope, but reminds us to keep our feet to the ground to provide a solid stand.

the collaboration between wareika and soukie & windish at this time delivers a very special package. the original is a long atmospheric track, which seems to slow down and after a long and fading break ends up in a deep and cool offbeat. wareikas interpretation is a masterpiece. they played whole part and sounds with their own instruments and added a new baseline, which turns the track into a completely new direction. works for many occasions.

afrobuddha is the hotly-awaited new music project from east london-based japanese producer/dj duo kay suzuki and koichi sakai, arguably two of the biggest and most respected names pushing at the boundaries of the capitals independent world music scene over the last five years. the first release to hail from the afrobuddha banner will be obame, a powerful collaboration with the kakatsitsi drummers, a ghanaian drum and dance troupe, featuring pioneering drummers from the ga tribe of southern ghana, with their roots in the fishing community of jamestown. they combine traditional drumming grooves, played on a wide variety of west african drums, with melodies from bamboo flutes, xylophone and folkloric chants in stunning harmony. the track fuses their intoxicating raw drumming, traditional chants and bamboo flutes with afrobuddhas unique rendering of modern dance music to create a truly spiritual dance music of our time.
