australian group retiree return to rhythm section intl in 2018 with a new record house or home. the musical project of matt crowley, tori holleman and marco vella retiree have steadily congealed their broad influences into a unique emulsion of strongly rhythmic and emotional music. from two releases, theyve been described as pared back 1980s comfort pop for all occasions, having a whole lot of criss-crossing rhythm containing swirling synth flourishes, languid wistful vocals and strutting drum machines. the albums songs explore the theme of house or home and what that means in present day australia for different people. they journey from an aboriginal tent embassy on the south coast of new south wales, a retirement village, a one room flat in ringwood and a sleepless 17 hour stop over in malaysia.

2018 repress , with the debut release selling out in a matter of days and a repress already flying off the shelves, rhythm section international present their second offering in the form of a remix ep, with reworks of al dobson jr. by polish rising stars ptaki and manchester mainstay ruf dug. eschewing the typical notions of a remix package, rhythm section international offers up 2 new tracks that didn�t appear on rye lane volume one, accompanied by 2 strikingly imaginative remixes. on the a side the polish duo of jaromir kami&#324,ski & bartosz kruczynski take al dobson jr�s tribal tom-tom rhythm and extend it into a sprawling disco epic, adding catchy keys and sensuous vocals that aim to tease the most reluctant of movers onto the dance-floor. ruf dug�s rework, named � ruffy�s 3am canavan�s special� takes inspiration from one of many hazy late night sessions at the infamous peckham pool hall that is home to rhythm section. ruf dug, a rhythm section favourite and huge admirer of dobson�s beats, takes the gentle guitar strokes of the original and morphs them into metallic stabs, layered over an aggressive squelchy bass sound and sharp phasing hi-hats. this mantra is built upon in an effortless style typical of the mancunian producer and is as catchy as it is hypnotic.

making a splash with rs019 is a newcomer called mallard. discovered by bradley after being front and centre for almost every rs dance since 2016, the south london based producer and multi-instrumentalist makes a serious first impression with his debut ep �verte�.
currently studying jazz double-bass at trinity school of music, mallard�s productions demonstrate a keen ear for groove with a level of musicality rarely heard in electronic productions. at just 20 years old, he has already developed a unique sound palette and prodigious production style set to make him a name we will only hear more of in the years to come.

bradley met duke hugh in amsterdam, when he handed him a green usb stick after a show. he played the promos in the empty club and the first track immediately grabbed his attention - he knew it was something special. when he remembered the hook to green leaf the next morning he signed the release almost instantly. each song has its own essence, there is absolutely no filler and the entire double pack sits together as a perfect whole. flirting with aspects of broken beat, jazz, hip hop and dreamy electronica - duke hugh winds together a most idiosyncratic release equally at home on the peak time dancefloor as it would be for a long road trip. canvas is a big statement from an artist who s here to stay.
