in den späten 1980er jahren traten drei junge musiker - rick und remon melsert sowie paul nieuwenhuijsen - mit einem demo mit dem titel she“ an michiel van der kuy heran. ihr gemeinsames projekt, das sie kick the habit nannten, sollte ihre talente mit michiels unverkennbarer handschrift und einem hauch von früher house-musik verbinden. aus unbekannten gründen wurde das projekt jedoch auf eis gelegt und blieb über drei jahrzehnte lang verborgen.

jetzt, 35 jahre später, erblickte dieses lang verschollene juwel dank der bemühungen von michiel van der kuy, sergi elias und dem label vintage pleasure boutique endlich das licht der welt. die maxi-single lässt nicht nur das original wieder auferstehen, sondern enthält auch remixe des erstaunlichen prospero-duos, die michiels klassischen 1980er-sound nostalgisch aufwerten. die veröffentlichung enthält fünf atemberaubende versionen von „she“, darunter auch das original, und ist damit ein muss für fans von vocal-space-synthesizern, vocodern, laser dance, michiel van de kuys talent und vintage-synthie-musik.

after bringing kangaroo skull and cale sexton to light on previous releases, temporal cast once again provides a platform for lesser known talent with this, their third release. born in italy and based in australia, this release marks a big milestone for her. pulsar is a subtle and refined opening gambit, using a reduced set of cyclical rhythms and draping distant pad notes over the top of it for a perfect exercise in techno elegance. moebius is at the other end of the spectrum, all bloated drums and cavernous reverb decays creating a monolithic atmosphere. anomaly meanwhile maximises on negative space, using a dry drum palette and keeping things firmly submerged the whole ep is a masterclass of restraint and control.

andy compton, under his kick squad and the rurals aliases, delivers an ep of late 90s and early 2000s house jams for temporary state. modern sounding deep house vibes with deep undercurrents of dub and timeless house all merge together to form an essential slab of wax.

rothmans is back with there 7th release and this time they pay homage to german playmaker paul breitner . the ep comes in the form of rising manchester producer ste spandex , fresh off the back of his remix of coyote our on rothmans 6 , and has been recorded 100% live on analogue eqiupment , not a computer in sight !!!! . the ep finds rothmans taking a slightly different and more up tempo vibe to it but still retains the psychadelic nu disco feel of many of there earlier releases. spandex has had a little help from his friends in the form of kickin pigeon and metrodome , both fresh out of the manchester underground. this is rothmans first all manchester release and sees them really cemeting the label in there surroundings.

rondenion is a japanese dj and producer. his link with music started working as a recording artist in the late 90s. under the name hirofumi goto, his released his debut ep *ameria*. it drew attention for its dark atmosphere, and was played by international figures of the electronic scene such as derrick may. he changed his name to rondenion as a tribute to chicago and detroit. not so long later, he released his *love bound ep* on the respected rush hour records. it reached the top sales chart position on the rushhour store, and rondenion began to make himself known within the european scene. in 2012, he co-founded ragrange symphony, alongside no milk and kez ym. kicks kicks is a young graphist, dj and producer based in france. his passion for skateboarding lead him to discover all the 90s deep house/garage scene such as kerry chandler through skateboard videotapes. his debut set happened in bordeaux a few years ago alongside nicholas & larcier. he is an analog freak and started producing his first tracks in 2013 which will finally be out on cracki records.

the kicks started as a collective of different musicians, electronic & instrumentalists, that gathered together under one roof just for the fun of it, coming together and jamming at their own expense. a jam is a jam. theres no aim, no target. it is free from expectations and just like that the tapes piled up with no specific style or genre lines. whatever happens, happens is pretty much the attitude that created a label, not out of necessity but out of convenience of being free to release the more outstanding cuts recorded, regardless of their personal definition. the first release is from the curators and creators of the project, maayan nidam & alex picone. the record starts with the psychedelic tone of alice in the desert, continues to a still hypnotic yet down to earth 020 and ends with the stabbing butt shaker think about it. the next releases will continue featuring picone & nidam, joined by cool cats like aquarius heaven, san proper & cesar merveille.
