after 7 releases, rivulet records says goodbye. the very last release comes from cofounder stanley schmidt in collaboration with his long time friend hobor. the two leipzig based artists had the idea to release an album together for years and to finally bring the work to an end as well as to the label felt just right. the album itself ranges from eerie and otherworldy ambient tracks to banging lofi-jungle sounds. it mirrors the musical taste and exchange of the two artists. listen to it at home in full length, or play it in the club when the time is right – it works both. rivulet records says thank you to all the artists, dancers, listeners and friends. it has been great. leipzig, 2018

hobor is part of many groups and formations himself, such as songs for pneumonia or cointel allstars and the event-series fiktion+masse. his solo project is mainly known for extended dj-sets on various ambient-floors in leipzig and his live-sets - which could be described as cautious investigations into micro-sounds - are mainly based on his work with modular synthesizers. his debut-album on ph17 is a minimalistic, conceptual work that focuses on sound as much as on the way electronic music usually plays. all tracks consist of almost independent layers of sound that behave like improvising musicians. they seem to play together but by focusing on one of them you soon realise they’re actually stoically sticking to there own rhythm and repetition and as the tracks play on these layers of sound start to form ever different constellations. no wonder hobor says he took inspiration from improvising bands like the necks. his album is as fascinating and hypnotizing as one of their live-jams. “constellations is released on 50 limited tapes.

born in redlands, california in 1980, marquis howell grew up in a lovely way. raised to appreciate hand-me-downs, secondhand goods & older influences, he started imitating chuck berry riffs on air guitar in elementary school to impress the girls. having little to no luck with the invisible instrument & with many promises & persuasions, his parents bought him his first guitar. marquis took lessons at the local guitar shop and as often as possible he would practice 4 or more hours a day.

hobo (minus, hot creations, tronic) launches his new imprint, soundz, by finally releasing his highly acclaimed hit mind games. after tearing up ibiza and the world over this season, mind games is finally clawing its way out of select record boxes and into record stores everywhere. joining mind games is its evil twin, public lies. equally epic, public lies builds to a fever pitch with familiar but not quite normal synth tones soaring wildly overhead. two monster jams to kick off soundz in that familiar hobo style.

it s been around three years since jpattersson opened up a whole new horizon of formerly unheard possibilities between the worlds of dub and techno. a lot has been happening ever since, and that’s very noticeable on his second album. it still has all the signature elements of jpattersson: there s his dreamy, virtuous trumpet play and his witty vocals, there s his dubby delays and heavyweight beats which often line up in a downbeat rhythm. however, besides his fanfares there s now also many folks, many musical friends who contribute to the vibe of this album. there s a track with berlin mc longfingah, latin-flavoured rhythms from polish reggae and dancehall producer dreadsquad as well as a stylistically wide range of remixes that reflect the symbiotic cooperation and mutual inspiration of these last years.

der titel ist programmatisch. 1976 im new yorker hunter college aufgenommen, steht der große blues-sänger und gitarrist john lee hooker alleine auf der bühne. nur auf sich selbst konzentriert, spielt er den blues in seiner reinsten form. dieses album wird nun erstmals auf vinyl veröffentlicht (downloadcode inklusive). dies ist teil 2 der aufnahme seines legendären konzertes in new york, was ursprünglich auf dem label tomato veröffentlicht wurde. wie ein jazz-musiker, liebt john lee hooker es zu improvisieren. so sind die hier vorliegenden versionen einiger seiner größten hits wie “boogie chillen” und “hobo blues” einmalig - im doppelten sinne dieses begriffes. der im jahr 2001 verstorbene john lee hooker gilt als legende seines fachs. er spielte in dem film “blues brothers” mit und ist unter anderem mit einem stern auf dem hollywood walk of fame, der aufnahme in die blues hall of fame und die aufnahme in die rock and roll hall of fame geehrt worden.
