freda & jackson’s msh002 is the second offering from sydney’s moonshoe records and their first ep on the label as a duo. in 2016 the two beat-makers burst onto the scene and further-introduced the label with a pair of singles, persius & sumluv to a warm response at home and abroad. msh002, although predominantly house-cuts, sees the pair draw largely on their hip-hop influences with a heavy use of sample chops and and raw percussion. the 5-track maintains an emotional undertone of sadness from front-to-back while each tune holds up as a stand-alone journey.

following his 2013 releases for hivern and major problems and remixes for the xx and mano le tough, dublin producer new jackson steps into 2014 with a full flex ep for germanys permanent vacation. the four-tracker moves from his signature vocoder-led house bump through spectral boogie, detroit leaning melancholia and upbuilding wrong un dancefloor moves. cover and inner artwork by practice and theory. initial copies available on red vinyl.

digitally remastered edition of this 1975 album. gil scott heron is justifiably recognized as one of the most unique black music artists of all time. his music transgresses all musical barriers in the same way that stevie wonder, bob marley and marvin gaye did. first minute of a new day was the first album that gil and collaborator brian jackson recorded with the fantastic midnight band, and is a revelation throughout. the album reflects all the aspects of gil and brians music, a mixture of soul, jazz and other influences sometimes powerful, mellow at others, but always compelling. but it is the lyrics and messages of the songs that really made gil scott heron stand out from his contemporaries, always telling a story and informing us of situations that needed attention.
