wonderful 70s work from tom ze! the record’s a bit more straightforward than some of his other records from the decade, and has a number of tracks with a samba sound at the base – but there’s more than enough fantastic material to keep the record fresh, and tom’s writing is as great as ever. there’s a vocal group that sings with ze on many of the tracks on the record – but they also seem to sometimes act as a greek chorus, in response to breakaway vocal passages that are dominated by ze. includes the excellent baroque funky number “dor e dor”, plus the tracks “sonho colorido de um pintor”, “a baba”, “o sandalo”, “a briga do edificio italia com o hilton hotel”, and “happy end”. pressing on 180 gram vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve.

bad cop bad cop are underground veteran alex cortex (xx badcop) and glam-tech-hero lopazz (zz badcop), both well-established producers and perfomers for many years with top-credentials on smaller and bigger imprints alike. so different they are in their respective solo-projects, so indistinguishably they melt their unique visions into one flow of effervescent creativity when they hit the studio or stage together.

preceding the release of bad cop bad cops debut album >wings of techno<, 4 tracks of the long player get the remix treatment by a unique quartet of techno artists: tobias, group niob, brendon moeller and pomelos upcoming star kemetrix. >wings of techno< is a psychedelic tour-de force through various styles of electronic sounds. deep and unique, jacking at times while laid back and cosmic at others. all four remixers on duty here manage to keep the psychedelic and surreal feel of the originals intact while adding a great dose of dancefloor friendliness to the tracks. ostguts tobias. reworks hilton hihat into a deep and dreamy acid techno tune. he is followed by motor city talent kemetrix, who steps up the pace and edginess with a twisted, stomping electro-techno hybrid remake of beauty. group niob, the viennese duo formed by cheap records legend gerhard potuznik and martin dibek, contrast the goth-pop vocals of the original bodyless material with deep dubbed- out techno beats. and lastly, the unmistakeable brendon moeller turns cheeky into an undulating, deep bass driven dub techno stomper

in 2011 it got a little quiet around the co-productions of fraenzen texas and ruede hagelstein aka the cheapers. but since the beginning of the new year the lights dont go out in their studio doing beats and sound. next to releases on areal records and bar25 the uy063 was born. title of the name giving a-side goes back on a quote from paris hilton who wants to tell with >amazeballs< how super cool she finds things. anyway the two artists made it real with their concise bassline which will make the people reliably squeak more than hobby djane hilton. on the b-side things turn a bit more severe: egyptian summer quotes with samples the arabic spring in africa and produces a revolutionary ground mood which has never been heard before. on b2 however there are the cheaperesque absurdities on the microfon like we know them. depositing skillfully their own vocals in the belly of a hungry electro monster.
