the fourth release of selva discos is one that has been bursting audiences into flames for a good while. barbatuques, a well-known brazilian group of body percussionists, adapted -baiana&#769,,,,,,,,,,,,- back in 2005 (first released on the -o seguinte e&#769,,,,,,,,,,,, esse- album) and since then it became a staple of their concerts, getting crazy reactions from the children to the elder, being featured on soundtracks and sampled by trap duo tropkillaz. the original is a modern folk song from bahia composed by maria do carmo barbosa, but it was the mouth harp sound and the stomping beat on the barbatuques arrangement that imprinted its trademark sound - like the first lightning strikes before the storm. a couple of years ago, jan schulte, the german producer known for his taste for tropical drums (and also for using a few different aliases), heard the song and decided to add an extra punch to it for his dj sets: more drums, taken from a library record of -drumdrops- (hence the title). in his appearance at 2017 s dekmantel boiler room stage as bufiman, he dropped it to the crowd s awe, and it s been like that wherever its played - believe it, it s been tested all around. so now for the first time -baiana&#769,,,,,,,,,,,,- is issued on vinyl. it marks the second volume of the brasingles series, a new series on selva discos dedicated to releasing loud 12- singles with the original song on the a side and a rework on the b side, to please both the dj and the listener.

this is first release by seba & jr vallo on secret operations. both tracks were written in sweden just outside stockholm during winter, hence the title -15.

nils frahm, born in 1982, had an early introduction to music. during his childhood he was taught to play piano by nahum brodski � a student of the last scholar of tschaikowski. it was through this that nils began to immerse himself in the styles of the classical pianists before him as well as contemporary composers. today nils frahm works as an accomplished composer and producer in berlin. in early 2008 he founded durton studio, where he has worked with peter broderick and dustin o�halloran amongst other fellow musicians.
the three instrumentals, which make up his debut release wintermusik are piano led pieces, coloured with occasional celeste and reed organ parts. the record�s equal measures of sorrowful refrains and uplifting passages, combined with a real intimacy that makes for an album you�ll want to return to again and again. the songs were originally intended as a christmas present for friends and family, hence its winter release on erased tapes. the vinyl release includes a download code.

cpu and dance musics polymath neil landstrumm share a love for classic bleep techno, hence landstrumm has brought to the table four superb reminders of the criminally short lived genre. with spine tingling melodies reminiscent of 808 state s best work, and sub-bass worthy of lfo s bass-bin shaking reputation. a death, a mexican and a mormon perfectly encapsulates not only landstrumms influences but also his deep seated love for bleep. a labour of love which the sheffield based imprint has been only all too happy to encourage and hopes will keep the genre alive for generations to come.

acid paulis second album �bld dropped earlier this year to a rapturous reception. martin gretschmanns trippy opus took in various stops around the musical spectrum, yet remained committed to quality dance-floor tracks that refuse to follow any particular rule book. this collection of remixes of the albums a side (hence the name) only adds to that achievement - bringing yet more new flavours and takes from some of the most exciting names in the underground. �abbebe gets a rework from sainte vie who brings his trademark �multicultural electro sound to the albums opener, and produces an ecstatic mid-paced groover for the heads. oceanvs orientalis drops a similarly exciting rerub, finding new angles and dimensions to the track �baris. tel avivs red axes turn up the psychedelica for the duos amazing dissection of �ayam - deep sounds immersed in acidic tones and tight-yet-wonky arrangements. lastly �majid gets the treatment from label co-head nico stojan who produces a sleek and spacy remix that will delight the early morning ravers.

no matter where the winds may blow, what storms may come or what pirates will do, the transatlantyk ship is still sailing. navigated for the last three years by zambon out of berlin, ultimately avoiding the shallow waters of the generic and constantly patrolling the seas in search of exciting sounds. after all that sailing the label just had to replenish its ranks with some fresh faces - those still capable of voyaging into the unknown. joining the crew is a young gun tamten, who by day serves as a vinyl pusher in warsaw s finest side one record store. what he does by night is not the matter of this short text, but we are sure he does a lot of it. hence his love for all things distant - from subaquatic pads and floating riffs, to new-age-y siren voices, otherworldly effects and percussion drenched in reverb. there is a lot of similarly distant, sun-bleached material on this five tracker, full of a druggy and hippy balearic feel. beautiful ambient jam przebudzenie is the stand out track, but znaki czasu is equally as good with its simple, yet memorable melody, reminding of dawns and sunsets on some god forsaken beach. sultry deepness of nieznajoma is followed by enchanting digital exotica of wyrocznia and wavey trip-hop cut po burzy . overall its one of the strongest eps that transatlantyk managed to co-opt into its growing catalogue. definitely one for the dreamers.

for their 12th label anniversary, jazz & milk have decided to launch a new series called �twelve inch jams� in order to celebrate vinyl culture and the legendary 12&#8243,,, format! jams002 sounds the bell for the second round of the series including a 10 years re-issue of the classic sam irl cut �you don�t feel enough�. originally released as a b1 tune on his �african dance ep� debut on pulver records in 2007, this jazzy house gem found its way into the record bags of many influential djs over the years. from session victim, glenn astro, max graef to hodini� the record never disappeared in club sets but certainly from discogs a good while ago. so it was about time to give the tune a second life and finally press it on the format it deserves - a whole 12&#8243,,, side. the german production duo session victim are well-known fans of the track describing it as their secret weapon playing it in quite many dj sets for years, including their 2015 appearance for mixmag�s dj lab. hence, it is a great pleasure that session victim contributed a remix to the new release. their absolutely elegant and groove-driven version with a charming 90�s touch to it makes a brillant counterpart to the original with its jazzy piano-, drum- and double bass samples leading to an epic synth break that regularly causes ecstatic moments on the dancefloor.

ijsbrand & gert had always wanted to create balkan inspired music, and hence came the duo stavroz. their music is imprinted with original inspirations while keeping to a jazzy/burlesque influence. the bridge, so it seems, borderlines between minimal and jazz-house.

next up on etruria beat, is the dutch duo hush & sleep who have been steadily making name for themselves in the past year. they deliver a stunning two tracks ep with farrago and marco effe on remix duty. the ep starts off on a joyous note with the track mirth. as this is an old english word for gladness, the main melody takes you on a carefree ride supported by a stomping kick and dreamy pads in the back. farrago takes a more stripped down approach with his version. he builds on the dreamy pad, making it serve as a warm blanket over his signature tight percussion. contradicting mirth, the second original slowly starts to drag you into a feeling of hysteria, hence the name. taking their signature kick as the foundation, hush & sleep use a haunting melody that lingers on in the back and sets an eerie mood. marco effe�s remix is a deep stunning techno groover. taking the main melody but twisting it into his own wonderful creation and sending you off on a journey into time and space.

the album attains a unique harmony while drawing from a myriad of beliefs and practices. syncretism appears not only in the name but in the artwork and the music itself. the independent tonal passages draw on aspects of varied genres while creating a remarkably coherent yet homogeneous work. lvis mejía explores in his second album, topics of the christian religion and the history of man. deftly placed style and tempo contrasts express the various antagonisms found in this discourse. with the use of contemporary music in combination with hints of jazz, mejía designs spherical soundscapes, therefore allowing for musical deformations, hence the title aforma. the result is an experience that evokes abstract musical impressions. a reference to christianity is also embedded in the track order as the first piece patefactio opens the musical event much like a christian mass. the travel proceeds through the lurking clerical chants of aeternus-the final trial, whilst the bells are then calling us to mass with the track in dissonata apocalypse and continuing with the ontological concept of belief in in ghost we trust. everything comes full circle with the history of homo errata as a conglomerate of human errors. this final piece serves also as a link to the second part of the album anthropology of amnesia a musical description of repression and forgetting as a condition of life, which has emerged as a theme of human existence since the beginning of recorded history. with this opening piece artist and musician lvis mejía has created a magical musical experience, leaving us eager for its sequel.

amsterdam producers and good friends kaap and scott franka have come together to start a new label and live act: working titles. kaap is best known as the label boss of tape cassette label yield, scott just debuted with his first 12� on quartet series. together they perform primarily hardware based live sessions. for their label they improvise, jam and record to press these takes only on vinyl. the idea is to capture the real, raw and authentic improvised moments as soon as possible after they happen, hence the name working titles. this first vinyl release features the wt001 and wt002 outtakes on one disc. these sessions were recorded by the pair in an abandoned cabin in the woods in the south of holland, surrounded by nature.

rustling pillows, irate flamingos, drums thumped feverishly in basements. tweaked cassettes, noisy buses, restless hands tapping dashboard rhythms in thick dusk traffic. found sound, musique concre&#768,,te, stuttering drum loops forged in twilight boredom � hyperedited into ruminative dance collages. pillow by mischa lively (ne&#769,,e barton, blake): 4 songs, 25 minutes, a hybrid of exertion and uplift. pillow marks both the nashville native�s debut for racecar and the denouement of an evolution. once rigidly stuck to notions of how rhythm should be utilized � barton is a trained percussionist � the producer eventually realized the potential in limiting himself to a minimalist diet of new and archived drum loops from which to build songs. studying myriad treatment techniques, barton then executed a vision unmoored to binary ideas about �live� versus �electronic,� blurring lines as he composed with an ear for idm, dub, techno, and ambient music. hence pillow: a vast assemblage of rhythm and sound performed to mirror the spirit of dance records. indeed, the 12� is as ripe for warehouse parties as meditative nights alone, headphones affixed, candles lit, marveling at the mysteries humans conjure with physical limbs. �rhythm is instinctual to me,� barton remarks when asked about his preference for recording analogue patterns versus beats sourced from 1s and 0s. �and i dislike sitting nearly as much as working from computers.� movement, then, is a virtue to barton, and in mischa lively he�s found a taut, elegant, propulsive vehicle in which to explore it.

transatlantyk delivers more deep dancefloor heat straight from the polish house underground. this time zambon has recruited two duets from the opposite corners of the country, hence the name of the sampler (polnoc/poludnie = north/south). the result is one of the most diverse and playful transatlantyk releases yet.

zimbru is just one of the new additions to our label roster. focused on a more housy approach this outlet is looking for sounds that cross the boundaries between techno and house, collaborations between artist friends and nonetheless eternal dance music.
that being said zimbru debuts with a double tracker by sahau, the brainchild of dan andrei, kozo and paul agripa, entitled montreal ep.
side a is a pure house gem with breaks attitude, suitable for both night and day, indoor or outdoor. a new jersey influence can be clearly heard in those synths, hence probably the name nj breaks.
montreal, on side b, seems to be a different beast. with powerful swing and a catchy theme this track means business.

deep dark industrial ambient. a slowly evolving soundscape with boiling buzzing sounds, resonating through the dark world.the berserk was perhaps one of the world s best fighters, which in old norse time sworn allegiance to the norse god odin. before a battle berserkers excited each other up and occurred in bearskin or wolf skin, hence the word berserk. in the beginning of the battle they performed exceptionally talented, indifferent battlers, but in close combat they fell into berserk. then they howled like wild beasts, probably to frighten the enemy and incite their comrades and themselves, and then get into rages. a berserk in battle were said not to bother about any injuries, and was therefore until the enemy, or they died.

this compilation comes on four lp s with a total of sixteen tracks. more than twenty artists in the electronic music scene surrounding the neustadtmusik label participated on this project. new artist collaborations were formed, knowledge exchanged and experiments tried. these sixteen tracks are as diverse and interesting as they are to us a valuable outcome of the project. from chillout to rather straight techno, there is a wide variety of electronic music styles represented on the lp s. hence it is worth to take a listen to that compilation for all lovers of electronic music.

this is how it started focuses heavily on the early days of the chicago sound, especially in the formative years at ron hardy s music box.
following chicago s disco demolition night in 1979 the genre s popularity fell dramatically, hence fewer disco records being released.in this era chicago s djs such as hot mix 5, hardy, knuckles & jesse saunders played a variety of styles mixing in italo, electronic pop music, electro-funk and older disco joints often playing their own edits which focusing on the portions of the songs which always rocked the dancefloor. at the end of 1982, when dj frankie knuckles left the warehouse to open the power plant, ron hardy started to dj at the warehouse s new location until owner robert williams renamed it the music box. in 1984, a local label released a 12-inch single called -on and on- by locals jesse saunders & vince lawrence who had simple made the song in order to replace a record which had been stolen from saunders collection, the -on & on- bootleg disco megamix by mach. hence chicago house music was born and a modern day phenomenon followed.

toxic is the name of the first lamp, in a series of more to come, on the cover made by remy the feyter � glass blower artist. the tracks are composed by dieter vorderhake and are a natural inspiration of 20 years of techno influence. liroconite and cornubite are natural stones with the same colors as the lamp, hence the names of the tracks. tingeling, the name of the third track, is a dutch word which will translate itself more or less into a ding-dong sound. this sound is one of the prominent sounds in the track which announces a change in the track. it is inspired on the sound the metro doors make in amsterdam when they close. the metro is ready to continue its journey� so is the song.

2015 repress ! passionate advocates of vinyl, apollonia re-press point gs rare classic underwater, the first in a number of their personal out-of-stock favourites. the archetypal track of the paris afterhours that encapsulates the sound of the batofar kwality parties, a memory which is at the very core and stimulus of apollonia... underwater was a favourite of the trio back in 1998 and continues to be a record bag must-have in 2013. moody, bassy, a freaky lose-yourself-moment in the spaced-out melody, this deep house classic is being re-pressed for the first time exclusively on apollonia. a production project of dj gregory, the point g imprint created in the mid 90s offered a dark, raw interpretation of us deep house, given his alternative french twist. making a strong impact on the underground scene at the time, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw and on the raw again eps, hence original copies of many of his early tracks are extremely scarce

compuphonic aka maxim firket is a multifaceted producer and dj from liege, belgium, who was raised on a well-balanced diet of classical music, early electronics and industrial variants from kraftwerk to front 242, and the revolutionary soundwave that swept over from detroit, michigan. hence, maxim did not only grow up to become a skillful violoncellist, but also a producer with a unique approach, blending his various sources of inspiration into one intelligent mix of old-school electro, house and minimal stylings.

new kid sublime house fire, a quick 300. tip! kid sublimes back in the ballroom series, a homage to the first clubs appearing and dance music like disco, r&b and house was played. a tribute to �the warehouse� from chicago on the westloop (hence the loop �side b), where frankie knuckles (r.i.p.) used to dj as a resident. beside the term �house� derived from that particular era, the first volume of the back in the ballroom series is a record where kid sublime takes you back to the dance-floor. for the fans of that timeless sound by pioneers like steve -silk- hurley, frankie knuckels or a nowadays kenny dixon jr..ready for another kid sublime classic? b-boy house with that amsterdam twist!!

for most people, seth troxler is a name associated with detroit-leaning house and techno. yet this only scratches the surface of troxler s musical outlook, hence the formation of soft touch records, an imprint focused on peeling back the layers of the exotic and the strange, where interstellar guitar, calypso disco and seductive techno tracks can come together in unison and feel totally at home. on the labels first 10- release, long time friend and guy gerber collaborator, clarian, collects three tracks for soft001, a kaleidoscopic journey through 6am electronics, afro-beat indie pop and sixties west coast heartbreak. it s a bold opening statement for a label prepared to break the mould, get you on the floor with a whispered promise through the dry ice.
