the loop is the new lp by los angeles based polymath shafiq husayn, an epic project which saw its inception in 2012 through a series of studio sessions at shafiq s home, including collaborations with the likes of thundercat, erykah badu, flying lotus, bilal and anderson paak.

olivier kolly aka oktet is back for this 3rd techno home-made release by gravitation crew! the first track is a timeless acid bomb that resounds like the ideal soundtrack of an interplanetary space travel. with his reinterpretation, dmt and knotweed label boss philippe petit continues the space exploration, the planet toward which we’re heading seems more strange and intriguing. 2nd track is as an epic adventure to the borders of real and imaginary. newrhythmic label boss joton gives an hypnotic remix where sirens and tribal rhythms are mixed up. time to take off !

camelphat and yousef have known each other for many years. much alike one another they ve earnt their stripes, contributing to the dance music industry in a plethora of ways, dj ing, running events, running clubs. naturally, this friendship, teamed with camelphat s admiration and understanding of circus recordings, led to the exchanging of demos that finally manifested in this release. opening track the solution is nothing short of relentless. having had numerous plays out, the track has been dubbed check-mate on the dancefloor . with second track, dmt , yousef was immediately hooked on the way it pushed the boundaries of camelphat s vision further than ever before. indeed, a fully twisted techno work out that sees heavy kicks and driving bass build, amid looping sirens, to not one but two huge crescendos. this ep showcases club music with the heftiest of parameters. undoubtedly, another enormous ep for camelphat and a fitting following to the equally enormous say something by nasser baker already out on circus recordings

patricia koketts sound is shrouded in a veil of mysticism. the brainchild of lithuanian gediminas jakubka, diabel’s metallic heartbeat underlies a magical superstructure that evokes some kind of dmt infused trip. or possibly even some kind of ancient ritual, where one is intoxicated by serpents blood. guided by repetitive drum patterns, it creates a slow joint dance that opens the path towards transcendence.

after releasing eps on labels like clr, plus8, drumcode, dmt amongst others, pascual is now onboard with sino. 4 raw mental techno tracks like it should be. for nearly a decade, pascual has developed his talents as a producer, but also as a dj constantly evolving in the studio, his releases in labels like clr, plus 8 y drumcode ltd, speak for themselves.

dmt 013 is philippe petit s first and only techno attack for 2017. the record starts with lose yourself (part i) , an atmospheric track with a groovy rhythmic pattern that builds into a menacing acid trip. it continues with one life , using some very clear dubby pads, snare and toms, its underlying baseline bringing a happy feeling to the e.p. lose yourself (part ii) is aggressive and hypnotic at the same time, its intricate structure leading the listener to a state of trance. the record ends with distant memories , a prime time techno cut with several layers of synths to cover all sound frequencies to devastating effect.

with its tenth dmt release, philippe petit drops energovill, a big room techno bomb driven by a repetitive synth pad and a dreamy distorted saxophone line that will leave nobody indifferent. philippe then strips down the track even more to deliver a dub oriented, beat-heavy version of the track. on the other side, ubx127, from the figure stable, is on remix duties: he takes the key elements from philippe s versions and turns the title track into an unforgiving minimal techno attack. philippe closes the ep and reworks energovill once again, this time into a melodic, atmospheric and dreamy beatless version.

the a side features blue vortex and neferu, two driving techno tracks from gonzalo md that showcase his trademark machine groove. on the b side, p. lopez & octavio lay down a deeper vibe than usual with lorn and immersion falling somewhere in between techno and house.

benales opens the e.p. with radiate, a track where you can clearly hear his influences of the american school of 90s minimal techno. long time dj but new on the production side, this is benales first effort on vinyl. after his initial masterpiece on knotweed records (kw006) and a handful of releases on demented (hiss 1992) and krill, opuswerk is back on knotweed with displacement, a trippy, hard hitting, analogic techno attack: no concession on this one! gonzalo md has already delivered the goods on both knotweed (kw004 and kw011) and decision making theory (dmt 006), as well as a fantastic ep recently on extrasolar. here, with sharp oscillation, he keeps developing his unique style, producing a highly percussive, almost samba-like, piece of techno. label owner philippe petit closes the e.p. with indian summer, a track moving along a warm bassline, bearing some recognisable krautrock influences.

it is darkness o clock and the outside agency returns to their genosha imprint with exactly what you may not have been waiting for: slow weaponry in the 150-160 bpm range. drawing influence from a wide variety of other styles, these tracks will blend well with your hardstyle and hard techno records and will even fit your uptempo hardcore sets at +25! extra crispy sounds for extra crispy people. highly and selfishly recommended by the outside agency!
