we could say that with this sixth studio album anthony joseph is back to his roots. indeed, it was recorded on his native island of trinidad. but it is more of a continuation, of a culmination. as the caribbean music has strongly infused the music of anthony since its inception. this album entitled people of the sun is a tribute to port of spain (pos), this bubbling port, meeting place of many cultures and a door open on south america. this energy is found throughout the album with many stars of the island (3 channel, brother resistance, ella andal, boogsie the king of steel pan) and pays tribute to rapso, a mixture of protest poetry and soca / calypso created in the 80’s. as always the verb remains in the spotlight with anthony joseph.

2015 saw datassette in generous form, the original offal brought 100 tracks of alleged offcuts. while a rare few actually live up to this self-deprecation, it couldnt be a more misleading title. now, selected offal has been boiled down to a gravy-like substance for a vinyl release by the nice folks at shipwrec. after discussions with the artist, and suggestions from fans, seventeen prime cuts have been selected for the vinyl edition of offal, alongside a few brand new previously unheard nuggets and alternative versions. expect a buffet of delights. smooth electronica, abrasive funk, out-there acid experimentation, chip tune chicanery and everything in between from this chameleon of machine music.

shawn o’ sullivan marks return to shifteds avian imprint with a four track ep under his 400ppm alias. following on from 2013s non nocere, the new yorker pairs trademark stripped back drum programming with heady, warping drones and frenetic sequencing. even at full throttle, careful attention to detail lends the productions a degree of musicality oft missing from contemporary techno. subtle nods to idm feature, and references to o sullivans work with katie o sullivan as further reductions remain in the form of spacious verb and fluid atmospherics, but the focus is undeniably on the dance floor. printed inner and outer sleeve... black vinyl.

home invasion is the new label from real tone man franck roger, a man whose career has scaled the full depths of house music over the past decade or so. evidently seeking a new challenge, the parisian s new imprint promises to adhere to a vehemently underground way of working and produced exclusively on analogue equipment. franck is back again for another solid ep, this time coco bongo is taking the level really high with some mpc beats, weird stabs going thru analog delays mixed with some spring verb to give a unique sound and direction on this one. hypnose is one of the first series of hypnotic low techno direction wich franck wants to go back, using some modular sequences aswell on this one. virgo will surely please some of the deepcore heads around with a ruff beat and hypnotics stabs still mixed in differents external effect wich franck got the secret.

the term >ballad< is written similarly in many languages of the western hemisphere. it is a antique word. you can find its etymological origin in the latin verb >ballare< - which means >to dance< - and the greek verb >ballein< - wich means >to move<. a ballad is always a story told through music. in recent times the term >ballad< is often associated with greasy / absurd pop music. what a shame! ballad inc. releases tracks that earn the label >ballad<. on our first release >exile< you can listen to the epic story >high hopes of salvation< by quietpoint and to two short stories by xdb. >anilem< and >jupit< got everything a ballad needs. of course you can dance to it. of course you can move your body. but this should not be the main issue! there is so much more in modern instrumental music. who needs words to tell a story?
