twin tribes is a dark synth duo based in brownsville, texas. formed by luis navarro (vocals, guitar, synths, drum machines) and joel niño, jr. (bass, synths, vocals) in 2017. they gather their influences from the dark side of the 80s. darkwave, post-punk and cold wave are only some of the genres that the band summons using analogue synthesizers and drum machines, bass and guitar. dark melodic sounds, lyrics of the undead, the occult and parallel universes are what conjure twin tribes.

* this ep was first released in 2006 and is the first stonedwave release. it is a white seven inch, containing of two tracks by robert chudoba aka kungfoo. a. undead and real (kungfoo s ectoplasma remix) is the result of a remix context which was organized at the erutufon website using a samplepack by chip tronic. the theme is undead and real and describes the atmosphere in a hp lovecraft short novel where an undead person is roaming around at night.. kungfoo processes the samples of the track which was created by chip tronic with own built reaktor ensembles and one of the first ableton live versions. the result is a funky wonky electro tune with a lots of bleeps, modulations and which is still a lot of fun to listen to. timeless funk! b. rock me is a wonderful science fiction like glitch techno track with very elaborated breaks and an awesome groove. like a whirl of satin.

the latest crimes of the future comes from dimitri distant and lvrin, two emergent artists with a penchant for pitch black grooves steeped in the kind of acidic, wavey styles that cotf are consistently striking gold with. -blasphemy- is a powerful slice of reductionist acid that uses a bare minimum of elements to create a sinister atmosphere to strike fear into the hearts of unwitting dancers. -dead sunday- is no slouch in the creepy department either, its clattering beats and bubbly acid line straining against a tape-stretched backdrop of synthesizer malaise. -achromatic- switches stance to slow, undead electro soaked in embalming fluid and filtered through a b-movie veil for maximum guttural impact.

amsterdam local, ivory coast progeny and grime-juke-jungle gene-splicer, h-sik makes his black acre debut in rude style with two concrete-junglist chemical weapons. first up is the muscular drum workout *sonic rage* which layers a ridiculously powerful, yet deftly chopped 808-amen bombardment with delicate citric pads, bleeps and lost droideka language. on the flip is the orwellian *no promises* a natural pairing of vangelis atmospherics and committed drum-funk workout, building with undead voices and b-boy breakdowns.

romare is a young london to paris transient crate digger, collecting dusty snippets of undead voices and antiquated rhythms. once in his underground lab, these pieces of yesterday are chopped, spliced and reattached to create the sound of tomorrow. this ep explores the connection between the history of african and african-american culture in the form of collage to create musical conversations between the past, present and future.
samples of songs, speeches, interviews, field recordings and films were carefully chosen and rearranged: rhythms from africa are integrated with voices from harlem, conversations about race and identity between writers and ethnomusicologists are constructed, speeches from activists are conjoined with the voices of prisoners. this process of combining pre-existing material has inspired three >meditations on afrocentrism<.
in keeping with black acres genre dodging output, romares merging of traditional rhythms of africa with the contemporary tempos of footwork and house is a bridge between the tradition sound palette of africa and future dance rhythm.
