a stunning version of steve reich’s masterpiece of musical minimalism “music for 18 musicians“ (1974-1976) performed live at tokyo opera house in 2008 by the modern ensemble and synergy vocals featuring the composer as guest performer.

for their 12th release, fasaan recordings has dug deep into the techno underground of malm and found the drum machine anthems of frankie twilight. not your usual techno producer, the woman behind this alan vega-esque alias does not subscribe to any genre definitions. having played in a berlin-based punk band as well as acting as resident dj at a members only 78 rpm jazz club, to say her tastes are diverse is quite an understatement. the diy spirit is however a red thread throughout the 4 tracks of her synergy ep for fasaan

alix perez and spectrasoul have earned their stripes as pioneers of the deeper and more melodic side of the genre. these gentlemen are known for their versatility, and their progressive attitudes toward music. both acts came up through shogun, and their first collaboration forsaken quickly became a benchmark for quality in drum and bass. the synergy ep is 4 tracks of concise, stripped back, mature and soulful music that bumps. perez and spectrasoul have recently formed their own imprints, and as a celebration of this, the synergy ep is a joint release between the artists labels - ish chat music (spectrasoul), and 1985 music (alix perez). the ep has seen repeated support from dbridge, skeptical, lsb, lenzman, marky, ivy lab and others.

emphasis recordings is proud to present the latest tang single, >bass synergy<! the title track continues in that chicago/detroit vibe that we all come to know from tang. it starts off with a bass heavy, industrial styled, drum programming before a pulsating bass comes riding along a funky melody. just when you think you got the beef of the track, things break down to rumbling arppegiated bass roll. then boom! both basslines and percussion come back in for the for the finish! did i mention theres strings?

roots go deep are a label devoted to releasing music by south african artists. since 2012 they ve released seven eps by names like d.nel, makhen gigga and label owners ofuren and fred buddah. now that they ve established themselves in the digital realm of music, roots go deep arrive on the physical medium with a split ep of deep and dubby sounds from ofuren and fred buddah. the two provide two collaborative tracks in -floral synergy- - a woozy house jam in line with mcde s raw cuts - and -do deejays dream of dancing sheep-, a sublime mix of subaqueous chords, chilled out drums and touch of acid. buddah just about goes ambient on his solo track -ragan- while ofuren keeps it heads down and uber-dub on -ripples through reflection-. roots go deep indeed.
