we are thrilled to release the debut ep by the mysterious and mystifying glasgow-based dub-pop duo laps (ladies as pimps). lady two collars (golden teacher) and sue zuki (organs of love) wowed us with their exciting mix of vocals, acid, dub and hip hop. using out-there dub recording techniques and instrumentation fused with a tasty pop sensibility, they make an original and experimental blend of underground dance memes. there is an incredible breadth of sounds over the seven-track record, making it an excellent choice for any dancefloor. the ep also features guest collaborations with some of glasgow s best musicians, including golden teacher, sinead young, duncan young, and an excellent remix by green door studio.

argentinian veteran jorge savoretti has been djing for more than 20 years, and his first release for esperanza records traces back to 2005. in this time laps he has produced 2 albums, 20 eps and a great number of remixes, on labels such as raum musik, visionquest and ilian tape. his debut on cadenza is a crisp breeze of graceful music for dancing. side a starts point-blank with bou gei bouncing shuffle, driving bass line, lively cymbals, sparkling band-passed chords, summing-up jorge s true dedication to nightclubs and nightlife. with no reprieve, ruth suspicious pads lurk behind a funky swinging rhythm spruced up by a continuous surfacing of snare rolls and giggly stabs. on the b side, sensu dub explores without hesitation darker textures and resonances, leaving no concessions to leave the dancefloor. finally u-fonk #04.01 dives into sweating hotblooded late-time hours, with am hypnotising deep-toned coil, soaked of greasy riffs and gloomy fumes.

after the success of the first release by ivan iacobucci, holic trax sublabel monoklo now enlists berlin-based martin lewis for three hot tracks featuring a remix from label boss man and japanese don tomoki tamura. no nonsense opener the wax is a supple, rubbery roller with sparse stabs accompanying the infectious groove. -poetry- then sinks down into a more warming and human groove, with smeared synths bringing colour and heat to a loose house groove, before lewis shows his skills at choppy techno with drumcatch. tomoki tamura also remixes this latter track, stripping it right back to a suggestive, infectious final groove with feather light percussion, skewed chords and involving sub bass that laps at the heels of the track.

in january m.a.n.d.y. dropped gizmo into our laps and caused quite a stir. shortly thereafter, talks of remixes surfaced and now here we are! weve got four stellar remixes from four special artists, monoloc, tim green, guti, and the one and only marc houle all set and ready to go.

nice price deal !!! every once in a while a particular record will land in our laps which we have very little information on but usually somebody will unearth its origins after a bit of homework and more often than not it turns out to be a relatively well-known producer operating under a new and secret pseudonym. what we are looking at here however, seems to be quite the enigma. one can only speculate as to who watkins & almadovar might be.

the next entry for the fof? label sees meadow taking the healm. meadows remix of previous release, >kheema<, takes the dubby-ness of the original to new heights and ratchets up the intensity with an undulating warming pad that laps over the senses whilst elements of the original tease in the back ground. >the cheese< takes the ep in an alternative direction, stepping over into dub step territory with oh so deep bass stabs underpinning the skankin percussion with traditional dub elements sparkling in the foreground. rounding of the ep is >6 steps<, a musically crafted slice of deep house for the afterparty complete with hazy melodies.
