ltd 2021 repress - a wide ranging, eclectic and progressive musical outlook has always been the lack of afro approach. his latest material follows suit as he harnesses disparate musical styles ranging from funk, soul and hip-hop to create a contemporary yet vintage musical escapade of superb songs. on his 4th studio album for freestyle records, the influences, sounds and musical textures are more eclectic than ever. below, adam talks us through some of the his favourite moments on *music for adverts*.

salfords cong burn drop the latest in their ongoing 12inch series feating entries from regulars chekov, perfume advert & lack, with newcomer tonto making their debut.

cong burn continues to exercise one of the most promising instincts for future-minded music on this, their third release. it s surprising they haven t done more previously, considering the maturity of their curation, but either way the quality remains at an all time high here, leading in with some light and liquefied 4/4 sonics from chekov before pirouetting into one of duckett s illustrious abstractions around the techno blueprint. label regular lack is back on side b with the stern and punchy -track 3,- and then haddon finishes the record off with -anabiosis,- a densely textured, slow creeping trip of a track.

gian strikes back all the way from reutlingen to neukolln with a three track ep bound to hit you hard! pairing his signature electrofunk beats with gnarly acid on the a side & ultra effective pad-sex on the flip, gian will manage to sneak his way into your dj bag, whether you like it or not.

on the a side bftt and lack follow on from their debut release on the fifth cong burn tape. bftt crafts a peak time sub heavy techno weapon which beautifully collapses in on itself before its final ascent. lack layers polyrhthmic splashes of shackleton-esque percussion over dubbed out bass growls. flip it over and you ve got chekov following up his ace debut on shanti celeste s peach discs with electro 808 patterns and swells of low end weight. howes lowers the tempo with a low key bubbler that further explores the textures laid out on cong burn s first 12inch.
