last album recorded by colombian rock pioneers los speakers in 1968 after leaving behind its affinity with yéyé and go-go music. one of the most brilliantly whacked-out psych lps to emerge from south america. originally self-released on their own producciones kris label, this is an almost impossible to find cult record. officially reissued for the first time.

kris wadsworth is an increasingly rare breed of artist that flat refuses to play industry games and pander to current trends, focusing on the darker, more uncompromising (and more honest) realms of electronic music. releases have steadily clocked up for such esteemed imprints as boe recordings, nrk music, alphahouse, get physical and morris/audio, landing on hypercolour for 2009’s impressive ‘deport this” (and subsequent single “mainline”), and it is for the eclectic and forward thinking uk label that wadsworth aims his second full length player at.

kris wadsworth released his debut album life & death on get physical music last fall to much acclaim. the released marked a milestone in the artists career, pushing him under the spotlight, and into the welcoming arms of new fans.

kris wadsworth is an integral part of detroits new wave, and with its time he wears his citys heart on his sleeve, delving into the electronic music legacy of his home town and showcasing the range of his own talent. the epic 10-minute title track >its time< is secret journey through the citys pulsing underground. it begins with a primal techno kick that rings out from afar, distorted by distance and brimming with a sense of anticipation. a gravelly male voice demands to know what time it is, declaring that >its time for that dirty shit, that dope shit, that detroit shit<, and the beat then kicks in, gritty and purposeful. the track then does a surprising about-face, abandoning the fist-pumping techno for just high hats and vocals, and transforming into a new phase that nods to detroits other great legacy: electro. grimy electro breaks and wiry melodies are spun before evolving again into deep house, with a see-saw duet of pads, and double-time hand claps. kris own >move dat ass remix< of his track >det sound< takes the dubby 2010 original, and reworks it as a ferocious bass and drums workout with dizzy vocal arrangements and blasting sirens.

direct is stripped back, raw house tracks. bleepy yet with plenty of deepness, its refreshing to see a producer out there not following suit, but producing an individual sound. the direct remix comes in classic alvarado style, heavy tribal beats, dubby reverberations, trippy deepness, and dense and engaging production. his remix is already picking up support from the likes of dixon, rocky (x-press 2), paul woolford and jay tripwire.

after a winter break and a with new focus on original and forward thinking house, boe is back for 2009 with one of the hottest detroit artists to break onto the scene in years. kris wadsworth is a man who truly has his own unique production style. for years the term minimal has been banded about for music with little soul, originality and that essence of dance music, a groove. kris is a guy whose interpretation of minimalistic music oozes all of these qualities and much, much more, stripped down, funked up house that takes the listener back to when house was raw, full of energy and brimming with soul. his production resembles that of an early herbert, crunching and twisting his way though drum samples and polished chords to create a sound that is simple and intoxicating yet difficult to copy. less, it seems, is most definitely more. dig is kris first four-track ep and showcases his sound through four slices of deep, groovy late night house. the first track the depths of is kris sound summed up in just under nine minutes. the first three minutes belong to a long intro that builds and builds through vox snippets, stab samples, synth chords and h-hats that ride the groove. the track breaks down only to kick back in with a chunky snare and trippy pads to whip the listener into a frenzy. macrotones is a wonky late night rhythm synth track that wouldnt sound out of place at fabric at 7am. on the flip, white bread kicks off where the depths of left off, a catchy rhythm with swinging stabs and moody chords. a growling, gut-moving baseline makes the track a real dance floor favourite. the final track on the ep is haunted house a deep houser with a delayed bassline perfect for those late-night moments.

an ep the compliments the finer house elements, each cut displaying separate elements that serves it up for house essential mix grooves. a1, state and griswold is funky with a jazzy vibe that expresses a smooth vibe that’s complimented with soul. the elements pair up for a jamming instrumental accented with detroit style keys, kris wadsworth shows his home-style techniques with class for >state and griswold<. b1, keep pushin track, turns out with a squared bass line, coupled with the chords, and some fx that walks this cut to a swingy deep house groove. b2, keep pushin remix by chris carrier hits with a quick released thick beat, that pumps the original jam into a smooth tone of deep chords that slowly warp out with a kind dissonance towards the break down. programmed tracky, the original is pushy enough to keep the floor consistently on the move
