named in homage to the series of collectable football cards from the 1970s, the rothmans label follows the inaugural mario kempes release with another long-haired icon being given his dues in the form of the harald toni schumacher release, complete with another four tracks of chugging techno-disco. emotional responses timothy j fairplay kicks things off with *off the rails*, an expectedly dark and tense piece of carpenter-esque synth, while lwe writer per bojsen-moller delivers the atmospheric techno of *staying late*, whose rippling analogue bassline gives way to an unexpectedly funky breakdown. on the flip, steve cooks *noahs arp* takes things a balearic house direction with its thick, filtered analogue textures adding some psychedelic colour to its mid-tempo grooves, while emile strunzs *magnetic* adds some acid flavour to its low-swung, vocoder saturated italo swagger.

if you like the sound of cheap analog synthesizers from the mid 80s, drum machines and strangely pitched human voices this might be the record for you. a small warning about the quite melodic and poppy arrangement, it is not minimal, nor pure drones. sorry. estelle ep has nothing to do with the car Škoda estelle, even though some instruments used on the songs were produced during the same years. estelle ep is more or less a result of the new kranglan broadcast hardware studio environment. the plan was simple: to get rid of the machines that were not being used and to make the rest communicate with each other. this resulted in some very fine jams where realtime feelings and spontaneous ideas were converted into music. each track is its own moment in time.

on this limited 300 copies-12 three original songs are reworked by three of the most unique and brightest shining stars on the electronic music scene. the swedish club knight axel boman, duke of studio barnhus and prince of king kozes pampa.

making his long awaited return to salt mines, hymns produces a debut 12” flecked with restrained breakbeats, off-kilter rhythms and glistening pads. opener ‘water acid’ is an eerie amalgamation of aquatic electro and tense emotion, built for a fractured dancefloor deep in the arctic ring. a2 ‘searching for the real’ provides a brief moment of introspection, before b-side leader ‘heinz harald frentzen’ crashes down and amplifies the intensity with sharp breaks and rapid, stark percussion. closing the release, title track ‘waves of nothing’ showcases hymns at his best, utilising lonely synths and equally mechanical and organic percussion to create a sentimental, vulnerable climax.

belle alliance is the second studio album by german electronic music group ashra, released in 1980. it is the follow up to correlations from 1979 with the same band members: manuel göttsching (guitar, synthesizer, sequencer) , lutz ulbrich (guitar, synthesizer, piano, mellotron) , harald grosskopf (drums, percussion, synthesizer). the two albums released before under the name of ashra: new age of earth and blackouts (released under the name) had actually been manuel göttsching’s solo albums.
