dj-mixes often do little more but keeping up a certain mood. to establish a mood like this, masterful sven v�th only needs a couple of moments. but this is it not enough for the inimitable dj from frankfurt am main. v�th wants to introduce us to an entire world of electronic sounds. the music is an end to itself, yet at the same time, it is more: vaeth employs it to express his passion for the whole scene, to tell about the adventures he has experienced traveling, about his love for his friends, his children, his girlfriend and particularly to his fans all around the world.

sound of the 16th season people have their personal rituals. leaving the international space station russian space travelers left some bread and salt as a welcome gift for their american colleagues. tennis star serena williams bounces the ball exactly five times before her first serve. our beloved master of ceremony of techno music, sven vath, has a ritual as well: when the shadows on the island ibiza grow longer and the noise of the summer is about to fade away, he takes a couple of days off and reminisces the passing season, the parties, the crowds and the music: what were the craziest, the most outrageous, most beautiful moments? which situations, which encounters inspired me? what did we laugh about? and of course: what was the best music? which tracks accompanied me and my cocoon people during those intense weeks? vath assembles those magical tracks for the sixteenth time this year merging them into two and a half hour set.

fifteen years on ibiza, fifty years alive: in 2015 sven v�th celebrates two major birthdays. with more than 10.000 of his fans he will celebrate his own birthday on october the 25th in mannheims maimarkthalle. luciano, dj koze and richie hawtin will be among the well-wishers behind the turntables. the birthday bash will as well be the kick off for vaeths world tour, which will take him through three continents. sven v�th s fans: some of them are dancing for more than thirty years to his music. within frankfurts club scene, they followed him from dorian gray, the omen, u60311, to the cocoonclub to ibiza.

for fourteen years the island ibiza has been haunted by cocoons high-spirited tribe. in 2013, cocoon turned the beloved amnesia into a tropical jungle. the jungle seduces with lush colors and intriguing sounds. without hesitation you dive into lush greens, amazed by heat and beauty

there will always be a bass drum making people dance, but it will rarely sound the same. techno and house are in continuous flux. there will always be people celebrating. and each year new kids join the scene, hungry for pleasure, for beauty, for ecstasy - for life.

sven kacirek, the much praised multi- instrumentalist from hamburg, releases his third album with pingipung. scarlet pitch dreams presents intimate solo works, following his debut the palmin sessions (2007) and the interna- tional success the kenya sessions (2011), which was honored with german record critics award for the second quarter 2011. whilst the kenya sessions revealed fruitful col- laborations with kenyan musicians, almost every single instrument on scarlet pitch dreams has been played, recorded and produced by sven kaci- rek himself.

pingipung presents >the kenya sessions< - an enchanting cooperative mission featuring sven kacirek, our experimental drummer and electronic producer, and musicians from kenya. the kenya sessions is the result of svens extended visit to the country with live and fieldrec sessions which he later processed in his studio in hamburg. sven kacirek plays with local kenyan stars such as 80 year-old female vocalist ogoya nengo, or with joseph oganga, who delivers amazing patterns with his >nyatiti<, a traditional string instrument. its sometimes difficult to tell the parts recorded in kenya from those overdubbed by sven kacirek himself. his own compilation of marimba, bassdrums and brush patterns forms a musical thread that he weaves skillfully into the live sessions. at times joyfully straight (arsenal aluny vilage) at times mellow and melancholy (mariae, paperflowers). sven kacirek and some of the kenyan musicians will bring this fantastic material on international stages in early 2011. the linernotes by goetz steeger illustrate the detailed recording process of this record. >the kenya sessions< is pingipungs second album by sven kacirek who has a background as virtuoso jazz drummer. he studied at drummers collective in new york, played several solo-shows at the world drum festival and has written books on the experimental use of electronics on the drumset. on his solo debut >the palmin sessions< in 2007 he presented his original ambient aesthetics made from silent patterns recorded on paper, wood, or glass surfaces: >svens frantic drumming is really a pure pleasure to listen to ... his instruments join together in a deeply meditative study< (foxy digitalis)

sven vaeth and his comrade-in-arms rambled into the night like wild animals scouting out their trail, impelled by an insatiable desire for life. only a quick glance into the wild animals eyes is necessary to make us want to join this adventure.

portlandia house bastion ecstasy termed temples 2012 debut mini-lp, i-vii, ambient jack, which captures something of the projects contradictory strengths: airy yet agile, sparse but plush, flights of intuition mapped onto morphing grids of percussion, crystalline electronics, and pastel skylines. avalon kalins latest collection of tech finery, earrings ii, dials back the atmospheric quotient somewhat, though theres still a rock garden spaciousness to his mixes, each element arranged with regard to some higher harmony, the poetry of negative space. recorded in his home studio while dancing, the four tracks here ebb between passages of pressure and release, euphoric but unstable, dusted with pyramid-chamber slap back and live dubbing acrobatics. their melting clock asymmetries more closely echo kalins hardware improvisations with scott goodwin as polonaise than the velvet vocal house of his other solo vessel, finesse, but temples is ultimately a holy place all its own. a sleekly compelling statement from one of the pacific northwests secret heroes. mastered by eric hanson. edition of 305
