asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.

on >respect yourself< ron keeps things deep with fuzzy vocal samples and sonic washes that make you just feel good. the chant and conga rhythms pop out of the mix and keep things moving. you also get the dub that gives you space to play with followed by a beat track w/no vocals

sherard ingram makes electro like no other: hi-speed electro soul, reflective soundtracks of desolation, spooky zombie mutations and relentless sci-fi bass is what makes up social engineering, his second outing on trust. a true detroit survivalist, ingram has famously recorded with carl craig, kenny dixon jr. and anthony shakir on the seminal urban tribe album the collapse of modern culture (mo wax 1998). he has since been associated with drexciya as dj stingray and recorded two albums for aphex twins rephlex label.

well known on the dnb and dubstep scene for his fiendishly twisted artwork, uk creative genius monsta is also a beast of a producer. in this, his third release for subtrakt he teams up with >mr key< to bring us >space raiders<, a vocal dubstep demon of truly gargantuan proportions, so huge, in fact that it threatens to bring down mankind itself. or maybe its just a packet of crisps? dean rodell bravely attempts to contain the threat on his remix, but an army of space raiders march up out of their packet and flatten the whole city using a supernatural arsenal of sonic weapons that pull down skyscrapers with rasping bass and fry a million brains with shrieking sirens that can be heard in even the far corners of the galaxy. on the second remix dnb hero >raiden< stands up, and the guerilla war begins. taking his inspiration from the paranoid b-movies of the cold war era he morphs the original lead sounds into something so spooky and bizarre the space raiders have no choice but to pack their flying saucers and piss off back to zetareticuli. phew, that was close. supported by maryanne hobbs (bbc radio1)
