hailing originally from japan but now operating out of ontario, canada, this is ms onos debut release, and she certainly proves her credentials on this clean, sharp but funky fusion of dubstep techno and electro. kuro shinju is abstract and oblique but crisply funky, whilst the flipside moon is not unlike the japanese art of ikebana where the spaces in between are just as important as what fills them. precision cut clarity.

this track is techno with a touch of old school, but decidedly modern, not nostalgic. it s built on a groovy techno rhythm that quenum knows to do so well, with a recurring agitative sound that takes you one level higher. the earthy music, rooted by the feet in the ground, grabs the hips.
b side: ouidah
welcome to west africa and the port city of ouidah, home of the quenum clan. this track is classic quenum, clear-headed techno influenced by african rhythm, hypnotic percussions and inimitable touches that add warmth to the sober mix. this one is for the head, but without letting go of the hips.
dachshund and quenum will alternate their work on each release, so look out for the upcoming clapper 003 by dachshund. in the meantime, check out this track and enjoy the show!
