cold water, bad weather and a car packed with machines. best conditions to make a record. after two weeks, the reflections are three tracks, in three different ways but with many connections. the ep starts with “glowe” and technoid breakbeats, which are being controlled by heavy chords. “wiek” stays with the pattern of breaks but gets more emotional through various pads, which appear and suddenly disappear. on the b-side “spycker” finds his path, with the help of several percussive elements.

the supremes, the most commercially successful girl group in pop history, were one of the jewels in motown records artist stable. given wonderful material by motown s amazing songwriters, the group scored numerous number one pop hits, as did singer diana ross when she left the group and went solo, and motowns bright, modern, and uptown image as a label had a lot to do with the way these ladies gracefully and elegantly presented themselves and took over a song. two dozen of those number one hits, both as the supremes and as ross solo, are collected here, including the timeless classics *come see about me*, *you cant hurry love*, *you keep me hangin on* and *stop! in the name of love*. the album also features a bonus remix of *you keep me hangin on*.

an ornate globe made with many layers of exotic woods spins on its axis. through the stained glass window diffuse light casts russet hews across the study. looking out over the walled garden to an orchard, great swollen purple and black fruits hang malevolently from mangled moss-covered trees. a gentle wind pushes the tangled branches and as they creak and moan the fruits thud lazily to the ground, gathering in mouldering clusters on the dewy grass.

brooklyn duo xeno and oaklander are a minimal electronics girl/boy duo from brooklyn, ny. they began writing music and soundtracks in 2004. liz wendelbo is french / norwegian and sean mcbride is from maryland. they record their songs live in their brooklyn studio and play analogue synthesizers and instruments exclusively. this summer, xeno and oaklander bring their minimal electronic sounds to ghostly international with new album par avion, their first for the label.

the phrase *feux follets* from which archipel 105 draws its title, comes from the latin ignis fatuus, and translates as will-o’-the-wisp. the etymology reaches back to old folktales in which ill-intentioned spirits would cast an atmospheric glow at night, in order to lead weary travellers astray. today, the term refers to ghost-lights - artificial light reflections caused by decomposing organic emissions. anyway you choose to understand it, this music contains the mysterious and unattainable. feux follets are meant to depict an elusive (and perhaps also illusive) ambition. a tense equilibrium colours the constant, foundational sounds with aleatory movements. the compositions are detail-oriented, and boldly explore their tangential elements.
