miami born turntablelist & producer, jesse perez, throws down a booty shaking killer house jam for edibles fourth release. what you say about my momma has been ripping up dancefloors for months since landing in eats everythings hands, so its a welcome release on the label, backed with a deadly remix from truncate. on the original mix, perez grinds out a funky and low-slung groove, its memorable vocal hook looping and chopping from side to side as the raw mpc beats and sub bass weave their magic. truncate brings his no nonsense and direct approach on the remix, carving out a dance mania style drum workout over the cut up vox (think robert armani meets armand van helden). truncate has been a hugely dependable producer for yonks via his trax on his own truncate label as well as mixes for jimmy edgar, shlomi aber and kink, and he does not disappoint here. perez wraps up the ep with boogie down brown, another slab of funk laden house goodness, blending high tension strings and rolling drums to great effect. perez has been firing out infectious house jams for labels like bpitch, dj sneaks im a house gangster and hot creations, for some time now, as well as working his own label mr. nice guy, so its a welcome addition to the edible roster for jesse perez

mike ash returns to super rhythm trax after providing the very first release and gives us 4 authentic and acidic warehouse smashers. mike ash may be familiar from early releases on moving shadow and rising high records under a variety of pseudonyms in the early 90s but in the last 10 years has become synonymous with releasing mind blowing and true electro under his own name. when he turns his hand to acid house, the results mirror the high quality and his no nonsense approach shines through having lived and breathed the music and culture back when it was exploding in the late 80s and early 90s. in his own words i tried to keep with the original 1988/1989 vibe. i didnt use any synths / sounds / samples that weren t available past 1990. its all juno / sh-101 / 303 / jupiter / 808 / 909 / 707 / 606 and samples from the beats breaks & scratches vol 1&2inch the tracks exude a raw and strangled soul and are a bold and comfortingly honest take on the warehouse and pirate radio sound of the uk.

the motech label has been building a high reputation of late but it’s actually been three years since co-owner, detroit’s dj 3000 (franki juncaj) released a 12 inch of his own. putting that to rights, he delivers take me away, due for release in april and featuring a deadly remix by truncate. the original version of take me away is a deep and hypnotic builder with a relentless groove that stands astride detroit techno and tough house, a style that dj 3000 has championed over the years. truncate is the alias of audio injection (la’s david flores). his remix ups the tempo and adds an infectious vocal cut-up, turning take me away into a raw, hard-hitting cut. the truncate remix has already been picked up by eats everything for his new fabric mix, out soon, as well as receiving early support from dave clarke on his white noise radio show and ben sims on the october edition of run it red.

our french friend steven wobblejay strikes back! after the sublime shake your tingsz ep (qe 45), steve presents again some dope deep raw tunes. lots of old school flava with a new school twist! his partnership with pablo valentino as creative swing alliance (wolf music, faces, tsuba a.o.) has been a great base for developping his own style. another great talent is past, present and future quintessentials artist mat chiavaroli, who’s delivering a rugged and freestylish remix. hang out - the way we love it!

grammar of movement makes his long-awaited debut via lobster theremin’s main label. a shining light through a hazy prism that refracts a spectrum of techno from it’s tinted facets. a sound that shifts between sampled swamps of spoken-word lathered over crushed synths and carpet-covered drum excursions. a raw and cathartic output born out of a period of personal noise and pain.

terence fixmer his known in the late 90s , early 2000s as the creator of the tbm, described as techno body music. a mixture of the ebm soundscape with the modernity of techno. his muscle machine album (including tracks lile electrostatic, body pressure) released in 2001 became a reference of the genre. in 2003, musician terence fixmer and legendary singer from cultissism band nitzer ebb, douglas j mccarthy embarked on a project that spearheaded the fusion of techno and ebm. they named it fixmer/mccarthy and they were the precursor to a new breed of techno artists that manage to traverse between an array of scene specific genres without being tied to any. since releasing their first album, >between the devil<, in 2003 terence and douglas have ridden the line between pure techno and the recognizable song structure of classic electronic music and ebm. now, with over 13 years working together for this project and playing around the world, they return to their signature raw sound and delivery. >so many lies< is quintessential and brooding techno, while the instinct mix epitomizes their ability to craft a catchy bubbling baseline whilst all the while dispatching cold steel aggression.

jelly, made by remy de feyter - glass blower artist, is the second lamp that features on the cover of this ep series. just as the former ep, the tracks listen to names of natural stones with colors similar to the colors of jelly. the tracks this time, again created by dieter vorderhake, are more techno oriented, raw edges in the sounds and a rhythmatic drive create a mysteries dark atmosphere. this ep is definitely made for the dance floor!
