past releases - crosstown rebels, one records, leftroom limited and ffrr party affiliations - circoloco, flying circus, luciano & friends into you aka achille soardi, the italian producer and artist, born in the beloved lake garda region, connects with the dancefloor through his undeniable and fresh talents. as a young artist achille grew up on punk rock and hip hop from the us but soon found his love for techno, a genre which he would later dj at parties across france and italy, alongside ltz sound system amongst various other crews
downfall theory embarks on a new chapter as it hosts a full release from a producer other than its owner, sanys. myztical isn’t exactly a newcomer though, and the ukrainian producer has already two releases to his credit on nicz records. given the title of his debut on downfall theory, it is no surprise to learn that myztical is using it as a means to question reality. inspired by the science fiction writer philip k dick and decades of electronic music, he certainly succeeds on venturing into uncharted territories on the title track. muffled, repetitive vocal samples, an atonal rhythm and relentless, slightly distorted kicks show that quite often, simplicity is the most potent ingredient. on “faith of our fathers”, myztical disappears farther down the wormhole. splintered rhythms, deranged howls and a deranged filter push his vision for broken beat techno into the abyss. “substance d” sees the ukrainian hotshot return to a more linear approach, pounding kicks underpin ghostly shrieks before a breakdown sees the track descend into grimy, woody mcbride-style acid. the accompanying vocal sample, the embodiment of a bad trip, only serves to accentuate the track’s darkly hallucinogenic qualities. finally, there’s “shifted realities” - it revisits the jagged filters of “faith of our fathers”, but does so against the backdrop of a pounding industrial kick and a grungy, low-slung rhythm.

label owner, christian gerlach recruited the young and very talented alfredo mazzilli, which already showed his skills with his latest releases on edit select records or planet rhythm. in the ep, which is dedicated to the babylonian gods, alfredo takes us into worlds of sound that reminds us of a run through the jungle and arrivals at mighty temples. shamash opens the ep and prepares the mood for an ritual which is gonna to be celebrated. wrong assessment focuses the piece in its core, but in a deeper way and holds on to a heavy baseline. ishtar reminiscent of an ceremony and the ep reaches its climax which is also continued in the iori remix. the highenergy piece marduck could be considered as an joyfully extract from this distant world. with this packet lanthan audio combines the heavy architecture of old temples, but with an ease that welcomes the coming months with joyful anticipation.

* beyond the clouds* was recorded from a live session near the heart of detroit using hand crafted modular synthesizers, analog devices and custom made effects units. remastered by ron murphy @ nsc mastering, detroit, usa shortly before he passed away, his memory will live in our hearts forever. in this live version of cv313s classic, the modular recordings were separated, dissected in the mix and dubbed out with a litany of analog effects. during this performance there was a mystical element in the air, strobe lights, vaporous gas and electric dreams. a connection felt with the dancers, a groove beyond a groove, it is that magical essence of japan. this was a night to remember, recorded live in tokyo with love. during the closing moments, the ghostly ambiance faded, the smoke cleared and beyond the sequence was born. remastered by bazza @ alchemy studio, london. uk

after spending the majority of 2009 in hollywood, chanes briefly returned home to finish up songs for what would become his 2010 release, an experimentation in instrumentation. the 15-track tape, presented by house shoes, exposed us all to the nomadic 21-year-old producer from canton, michigan. chanes would spend the next two years working between home and brooklyn, before relocating to arizona, where he would release his follow up project, renegade hands, (insect records 2013). presented again by shoes, hands solidified chanes as one of the most promising young producers in the country.
fast-forward to 2016, and at 27, this self-titled debut takes us circa 2007 - 2009 with the soul-chopping salad days of his mother s basement, through the alternative sampling williamsburg, brooklyn sessions of 2010. if the melancholy desert psychedelia of his isolated four years in perpetual southwestern summer gives us a glimpse into his growing electronic influences, then the angst of his winter homecomings are hiding under the aggressive parka weather beats that first caught the attention of detroit’s underground.
fittingly, chanes’ debut lp comes full circle, finishing the album back in the place it all started and releasing it with long-time supporter house shoes and street corner music.

farr has a diverse catalogue, with three well-received releases on turbo as well as records with dsnt, leisure system and power vacuum. few producers can claim to have remixed tiga and been remixed by truss.
though farr has an extensive history with bloc., this will be his first outing on the label, a release that incorporates sounds that both bloc and joe are famed for.
the first track, “rpm” features prominently in the bloc festival trailer and is the soundtrack to the 2016 weekender. hissing high hats and an atmospheric baseline quickly develop into an explosive anthem designed to get feet moving. “rolling and thatching” conveys an immediate punch of 90’s acid, followed by techno heavy “workout three” with crunching beats and an unremitting delivery worthy of the berghain dance floor.
