revival is an as-of-yet totally undiscovered electric jazz rock recording from 1977 composed by visual artist and multi instrumentalist herbert bodzin. it features brilliant soulful fusion with echoed fender rhodes, phased flute, and electric bass and guitar. most tracks are overdubbed with synthesizers. fellow musicians are hans kämper (of legendary krautrock group annexus quam), bernd szemeitzke, peter johannesdotter and bernd schöttner. unreleased instrumental versions taken from the rare protest album niedersächsische schlachteplatte.

february sure isnt the month to laze around when the new rennbahn baby is chasing for your dance. the crotalus ep starts as if there was a crotalus right behind you! the original mix delivers a powerful basedrum and deep synths. the snake sounds, vocal snippets and the use of reverb and delay build a wide and huge atmosphere which leads us directly out of the reality into the heart of the jungle where youd love nothing better than to stay forever. watch out - you shouldnt stop dancing unless you want to get bitten by a snake! the marco fender remix on the flip side takes us out of the jungle into the club. an impulsive beat highlighted by a sub baseline comes to a nice replaying synth melody. here the vocal snippets are not applied to fulfill the song with a deep atmosphere but to complete the hypnotic rhythm of it. watch out - the snake still follows you at every turn! finally miyagis remix comforts us with safety - marching towards the end, it seems like we got rid of the snake. now we can wholeheartedly lose ourselves in very deep synths, floating hi-hats and a mystical and tempting melody. as if this wasnt enough the outstanding beat wont let you take a break and forces you to keep on dancing

canadas cobblestone jazz have established themselves as one of the most unique and inspiring bands of the past decade. thanks to their exploration of house through the eyes of a jazz improv group, their music is derived from the organic energy of the groups jam sessions and their now legendary live performances. comprised of members tyger dhula, mathew jonson, danuel tate along with newest addition the mole, cobblestone jazz are as accomplished individually as musicians and performers as they are a band - united by long term friendship, respect and passion for writing music in the moment. their decade long history of releases on iswhatitis, !k7 and wagon repair have earned the praise and long time support from the likes of gilles peterson, carl craig, luciano and sven väth. >memories (from where we are)< celebrates the first of a series of 12 inch releases that will come out on wagon repair over the course of 2011/12. the outcome of a berlin jam session last fall, the band incorporated a fender rhodes, vocoder, and sh-101 to make up the core voicing of the tracks while a cs-20 provides the drive at the end of both. in typical cobblestone jazz fashion, the track was mixed live with no prior sequencing arrangement. the session was then cut by the mole into two sublime edits - the results could be their strongest release since >dump truck<.

schliessfach musik is a new techno label in berlin / germany. as a sublabel from zylinder records the first 10inch maxi single limited to 1000 pcs is comig out. the track >fundamente< on side a was created by the label owner of zylinder records marco fender. clear structures and the variety of samples bound this track to a big club tune. the resident of club watergate (berlin) jens bond designed the track on side b using his modern minimal shuffle sounds made in berlin.

finally here two new remixes of the great track originally performed by patty smith and wrote by bruce springsteen! these two remixes are produced by the well-known nello simioli & raf marchesini, the first version includes various fender guitar-gimmicks, the second one more basic!

the “vince montana tribute” (louie vega and rick wilhite from detroit rework) is a heartfelt and masterful production in which 2021 grammy award nominee louie demonstrates his appreciation for the disco sounds that he grew up on in the iconic borough of bronx, nyc. the inspiration came about through an edit rick sent to louie. louie added some of his own editing touches, and the resulting track got big response whenever louie played it at his headlining sets. given louie’s longtime love and respect for vince montana, he decided to create an even bigger musical project. bringing in elements of life band members gene perez (bass), axel tosca (fender rhodes) and luisito quintero (congas), and then adding a piano line himself, louie was able to bring out the most authentic disco elements of this superlative groove but rework them so they are exactly in the pocket for today’s dancefloors worldwide.

this single is very special for visions recordings as we see a fresh collaboration between alex attias and luman child, two swiss artists reunited for the first time.alex proposed luman child a collaboration after listening to his music. then they met and talked about music , visions, influences, method of work and decided straight away to work together without knowing each other well and pushing them outside their comfort zone. they are both very happy with the resultjalex attias has been in the music for many years producing, remixing many great artists and djing all over the world. at the moment alex is about to release a compilation on bbe records ( lillygood party !) , plus a couple of remixes are on the way and he s also preparing other singles for his label visions .luman child produced in 2017 a killer first album with german label solid ground still available on a neo soul hip hop tip. he reached number 11 in the uk soul charts. as a musician and bass player luman child had a few collaborations with ferry ultra, gogo music and marc mac 4 hero.the project they present here is very organic soulful and musical. this single hold two killer tunes for the listener and the dancers.the a side is a 125 bpm disco jazz funk killer jam with live bass, fender rhodes and vintage keyboards sounds driven by a very funky drum beat and live basseline aimed to the dancefloor and good time party people keeping a smile on your face. its simply groovy and goes on and on for 10 minutes of pure disco pleasure.the b side is a funky number boogie jazz funk inspired by mr ayers vibes and sounds . the rhythm is groovy at 120 bpm and the moog bassline is round and fat. accompanied both track by fender rhodes and dope keyboards sounds, this one will definitely find place in dj boxes for those who play and love soulful music with an open mind. groovy , warm and soulful at his best.

fresh from touring with hugh masekela (the boys doin it), gboyega adelaja goes into the lab to drop heavy keyboard science on his moog and fender rhodes. its joe sample meets the afro funk of blo. with names like jake sollo on guitars, mike odumusu (blo, osibisa) on bass guitar and gasper lawal on percussion. this is a top quality, afro-funk, all-stars affair that shines from the inspired interventions, masterly arrangements to the sublime production.

this hampshire & foat project should not come as too much of a surprise to those familiar withgreg& warren s music, influenced heavily by not just jazz but the library sound of the 60s and 70s along with film soundtracks from the same golden era.greg& warren are avid collectors of this music,gregsends me links night and day to lps he has picked up digging on his travels. this constant search sends him down new musical pathways and often sparks a whole new concepts for projects. warren andgregare both fiercely creative talented individuals which means we have to keep them working, a challenge for us all, but the music rewards the effort many times over. we had talked for a long time about doing a library style lp (somethinggregis very passionate about) so during different recording sessionsgreg& warren started laying down various tracks with a view to the lp we have here. side one is 5 tracks in very distinct styles, musical paintings for the big screen. the vast sound of the japanese influenced jasmine, the spaghetti western melancholy of mariposa lily, the call to action that is antonio s theme, the breezy vintage sports car in the sun that coastal drivepaints, and lost in nostalgia, a late night poirotesk piece. side 2 is a classic library suite, whichgregdescribes as a detective s theme with different variations on the motifs.

“yuxtaposición” is a recently unearthed treasure recorded by a tight italian trio in miami during the early seventies. until now, this music has only been heard in office backgrounds, tv commercials and movie soundtracks. but the perseverance of an admirer brought about its first-ever release on the italian schema label. imagine hearing a 1972-era cal tjader quartet without cal tjader and you get an idea of what to expect. it’s slightly latin, lightly funky and truly enjoyable. “yuxtaposición” offers enough to interest a jazz listener. but the sounds heard in these 35 minutes are really better appreciated as mood music. lead man, cabildo, composer of all ten tunes here, has a knack for writing jazzy little hooks that launch his tasty, well-crafted keyboard solos. often alternating fender rhodes and piano within the same song, his playing maintains a hypnotic command that recalls bob james’ cti style. electric bassist bobby fares and percussionist max ronnie make subtle, supportive contributions that serve only to enhance cabildo’s sound. there’s a funny thing about yuxtaposición too. it’s kind of like developing an addiction. you may not pay much attention to it at first. but before you know it, you’re hooked. you need to hear it to be satisfied. a very nice surprise.
