the mix is influenced heavily by how i used to dj at the first party i ever promoted, named seismic, and another named monox which was a straight up techno night where i was a resident from the age of 17. and although it wasn’t my plan, it turned into a kind of tribute to the cities that really formulated me as a dj: detroit, chicago and glasgow.

floating astronomical objects and the void in between – jon hester enters the dystopian circle with four gravity manipulating techno tracks coming directly through the wormhole. jon hester got his start in the midwest us, living in chicago, minneapolis, and connecting with detroit. after years on the dance floor he took to the decks, going on to work in a record shop, host his own events, and hold residencies that developed his sound. music production and a move to berlin followed, but dancing and mixing are still the inspirations that drive him to create. his dj sets are built on physical rhythms and adventurous programming, effortlessly combining diverse varieties of techno and house. with an engaging presence and a knack for telling a story, he builds a unique connection with each audience, and works any room until it sweats.

end of dayz 009 is by the mysterious 30drop. his works are described by himself as detroit techno inspired music mixed with repetitive european techno. in this release -on the next day ep- we find on a side the terror history called -they saw it again- and the jeroen search remix that is a very danceable rhythmic techno with some cosmic stuff. the b side is for -raw- where we can listen to some space bells. here is the remix by an old friend of this label, p.e.a.r.l., bringing the track into a darker place.

on his first release for berceuse heroique, rotterdam’s finest dj overdose meets one of the strongest producers of detroit, mr. ob ignitt. overdose creates the best soundtrack for a “march of the robots” scene with dead city. the mighty bounce of early dr. dre productions meets some nasty electro carnage. on sorry to disappoint you can hear the classic west coast electro sound of some of his older releases mixed with some funky sci-fi synth lines. then, ob ignitt takes this monster of a tune and creates one of the gnarliest house tunes of this year with a proper g funk bassline that will properly test your sound system on a good night.
