2022 repress - biosphere is the main recording name of geir jenssen (born 30 may 1962),1 a norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. he is well known for his works on ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. his 1997 album substrata was voted by the users of the hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album. patashnik was originally released by r&s records/apollo in 1994. it was number 1 in nme s independent chart in march 1994 and reached number 50 in the uk official album chart.

tapan are back with their first release since their debut album europa. after that 2xlp emotional and epic journey they are now showing us again their dancier side with two cuts the beast (featuring serbian musician jan nemecek) and ghana. both tracks are not easy to categorize. perhaps industrial-inspired tribal-trance is the closest description, and yet somehow after listening to the tracks it feels like trying to put it in a box just dont do justice with the complexity of the music and its components. both tracks are remixed by 2 current favorites of the malka tuti crew - russian duo odopt who deliver an out-worldly idm monster of a remix to the beast, and italian-belgian duo front de cadeaux who pitches the track ghana even slower, adding more percussive grooves, a fat bassline and a whole lot of of sexiness to the brew.

bjarki returns to &#1090,,,,&#1088,,,,&#1080,,,,&#1087,,,, with another ep brandishing five restructured doses of idm from another galaxy. using marching kick drums as a basis, oli gumm takes references from techno, gabber and trance and morphs them into something far less easy to categorise. ‘oli gumm 2-2’ switches frantically between glistening synth cascades and bouncing kicks. ‘fork2-2’ is a subdued excursion through ominous, trance-inducing strings and skeletal percussion. opening the b side, ‘7 filakaramellur lion bar’ spirals through warped vocals and acoustic contortions, followed by ‘hatann satann’, a high speed voyage through a demonic parallel universe. closing off the ep, ‘sleikjó’ uses rolling drums to circle around a pit of sparse sonic oddities.

on uncanny valley s catalogue number 18 we finally welcome back credit 00 who is a man in charge of a decent collection of those dusty machines we all love. after the ice cold the living room life ep from 2012, his brand new record ice cream is easy to fall in love with. packed with tunes to suit various moods in life, it will be a faithful companion in dark basements or lonesome hours. ice cream starts deliciously with its sleazy sample choice. with the distinctive drum work it builds up to a true chicago-inspired dance floor banger. round n round hits hard with a harsh kick and cowbell action before it shows off slightly melancholic lead synths and a subtle but effective bass line and puts the emphasis on the fact that things go round and round. life s a dizzy affair. east of nowhere with that bass line-sound is credit 00 to the core. and with spooky synths he puts you to an east of nowhere-place where you will lose yourself in manic trance-like dancing. the record ends with red wine , a slightly different electronic love song sung by credit 00. the cover artwork was created by alexander dorn.

ein album, das zwischen zwei staedten entstanden ist. zwischen hamburg und berlin. also ein intercity album. aber was liegt zwischen den staedten? wald und wiese. die musik des albums ist gepraegt durch wald und wiese, durch viele jahre festival mit ferienkommunismus, unzaehligen open airs und vielen clubs, in denen vornehmlich aus holz gebaut wird. bass ist holz und holz waechst im wald und die musik ist auf bass gebaut, also ist das album eigentlich ein haus, solide und warm. hae... na egal, naja und dann kommt noch einer der besten basslaeufe der musik-geschichte aus einem wald mit kurhaus von weltruf, da schliesst sich dann der kreis. das debuetalbum >a forest< von soukie & windish ist das extrakt eines eigenen stils, den die beiden ueber die letzten 6 jahre und mehr als 30 veroeffentlichungen entwickelt haben. es ist deep, aber kein deep house, es ist trancig aber kein trance, es ist langsam aber kein downbeat. zeit für neologismen, slow trance, rolling house, down techno... whatever, you name it. auf jeden fall ist es musik, die immer funktioniert, auf den ohren, auf der tanzflaeche und danach, buten und binnen (draussen und drinnen). es gibt kein konzept, es ist einfach eine vorstellung davon, dass musik eingaengig sein muss ohne mainstream zu sein, musik die auffaellt ohne zu nerven. musik mit mut zum kitsch, die nie schmierig wird aber doch im ohr kleben bleibt.
