the man known as dj nature holds a long and illustrious list of releases that spans all the way back to the early 90s, when, as nature boy, the bristol born dj and producer was carving out sample heavy house music for labels like ruff disco records and the underworld affiliated tomato label. his relatively modern re-incarnation, as dj nature, has seen singles and two albums come correct on revered labels like golf channel recordings and jazzy sport. following on from futureboogies landmark 50th release, dj nature drops a heavyweight four track ep on the bristol label, each track promising and delivering summertime vibes in abundance. born lifted, with its deft guitar licks and soulful vocal chops over lazy, hazy beats, is a great example of the nature aesthetics that make his tracks so very popular across the house fraternity. my life picks up the pace, deploying granite hard snares and cosmic chords with dusted vocal samples. on the flip, what it isnt packs some jazz chops with its sampled pianos and saxophone riffs over a discordant beat that swings with the best of them, whilst ep closer loving u more again serves up some delicious summertime grooves with the perfect marriage of deep, funky bass and seductive samples.

manchester original sameed comes through on gamm with two tasty noodle nuggets based on his food experiences from vietnam where he currently resides. his simple yet effective approach is best described as sample-friendly underground dance music with influences of disco, soul and jazz. on his gamm debut the first noodle dish comes with a heavy disco and jazz-funk feel (bun) that together with some gritty vocals gives us a peak time jam to die for. for desert, sameed delivers chao which is way darker and chops up some deep jazz samples with some 4/4 rhythms. again, simple but oh so effective

almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project - dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout – resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production.
using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music.
the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, “pt.3” is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one.
onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.
as a producer who has released records inspired by 80’s funk, 90’s hip-hop and r’n’b, electronic and even a spiritual jazz project, “pt. 3” brings this stylised set to a close.

italian producer alfredo mazzilli presents us with logical strength, his second ep on weekend circuit. across 4 tracks he expresses his own unique take on the deepest strains of techno and it s outer reaches. ep opener logical strength is a throbbing piece of driving, menacing wormhole music with heavy arpeggiated sounds and rock solid, incessant drum-programming, leaving nothing standing in it s wake it is a firm statement of intent. nuvole sees the pace change slightly, adopting more of an eerie, borderline hallucinatory feel. the track unfolds beautifully with heavenly pads and synth swells draped across some tribally infused drums. on side 2 we have a stellar remix of nuvole from eminent swedish producer evigt mörker who travels a more subdued, sedate path with his interpretation. finishing off this 4 track excursion we are drawn into the beatless, introspective terrain of parhelion . a beautifully nuanced and subtle way to close things. washes of synth and atmosphere embrace us as we travel onwards, deeper into the night. alfredo mazzilli shows us once again his own individual and unique style on this ep, another essential chapter in the weekend circuit story.

on his sixth album, the arc of tension, the berlin based dj, label owner and producer oliver koletzki yet again presents his remarkable vision of contemporary electronic music, while he assumes the role of a storyteller. the arc of tension speaks to its listener as a singular, self contained work, which communicates by way of its natural flow and arc of suspense. the latter is mirrored not only in the multifarious narrative of the actual album, but can also be understood as evidence for its creators long musical history. while koletzki focussed on a diverse range of vocal collaborations on his previous long players, he now moves on to a different form of storytelling, rooted in the quiet confidence of a veteran musician, as well as the hectic lifestyle of a globally in demand dj.

what? unit 2, the classic mad mike production for the seminal detroit house label happy records (a subdivision to underground resistance, distributed by submerge) remixed some decades later? blasphemy, you might cry, a sacrilege, others might say, discogs police sirens everywhere. whatever the verdict, approved and sanctioned by the copyright holder himself, here it comes again and again. begotten during a kink live set, successfully identified by the running back ceo, extracted and road tested as a phantasmal endorphin-producing staple in his dj sets, later released as a limited, stamped white label and now properly issued by popular demand. people whose life is not a big room or a rave in a car park, will find a tamer, but nonetheless heartfelt remix by rome’s dynamic duo tiger & woods on the flip. deep doesn’t always rhyme with sleep.

one of electronic music’s greats steps back into the limelight with his first ep in more than 10 years. erik van den broek, the dutch producer who is probably better known under some of his pseudonyms such as shiver, essit musique and acid kid dominated the 90’s with a slew of brilliant acid and electro releases on dance arena productions and shiver. erik was a firm favourite of dave clarke and laurent garnier who included some of his tracks on their perfectly blended mix cds (x-mix electro boogie and laboratoire mix respectively).
erik already made an appearance on de:tuned’s 5 years box set in 2014 with the track primerose and now he’s back with more previously unreleased material. the tracks on offer are all on a deeper tip, with warm yet slightly eerie and mysterious sounds, clever programming and subtle effects. proof that erik has still got it after all these years. these tracks were made during an emotional time for erik, something that is clearly reflected in the music.
once again we enlisted alan oldham for artwork duties and matt colton for mastering the source material to perfection. this ep will be available on 180 gr vinyl. a digital release will also be available from all the usual outlets. de:tuned are honoured to have worked with erik on this release, a very personal record for him. thanks erik & emiel for your confidence and support!

redshape returns to his own label with a retrovisionist release that looks back in time as much as it looks forward to the future. revving up on the a side is shift, a propulsive hurtle to the final frontiers. starting off ominously with just drums, bass and a pollock splatter of toms, the track is soon overrun by an army of relentlessly running basslines, let loose to steer in and out like searching headlights on a dark and endless highway. with a heavier kick, the track shifts into top gear with pensive pads soaring overhead, mesmerising squeaks and his signature attention to percussive detail. on the flip is drive, which switches gears down a notch as an astrospace cruise along intergalactic coastlines - from summery california to shiny coruscant. a rounded pounding beat with heavy sub bass bounces along to a breezy tropical melody and spacious percussive work, before riding off into a cinematic sunset that is as nostalgic as it is hopeful of the c oming dawn. once again on the edge of spatial sound but grounded in analog warmth, redshape has presented a revision of classic record productions that truly punches as it is meant to be felt and heard - on wax. recommended!

drag you inside a hole - is percussive again, with his hall mark signature groove, it’s infectious as it is long, a great booming techno number.
no merci - a peak time affair, booming and dark, think aliens, it’s the title for a reason, it stomps and delivers.
shelter - a breaks outing, subtle and melodic. a perfect finishing or opening track to a set, and one of our favourites on this release. it’s as magic as it is prophetic, simplistic beauty at it’s best.

the time has come again to welcome two new faces to the second state gang. introducing two of russia’s biggest exports and house elite, julia govor and tripmastaz. between julia govor’s recent meteoric rise and tmz s (the fresh alias for the more techno leaning output of tripmastaz) long discography of avant-garde clubland hits, the pairing of the two are a match made in heaven. over the course of three tracks the pair craft an expertly woven tapestry of hefty sonics resulting in their debut collaboration, ‘the probability’ ep. from the start, the aptly titled ‘1-’ kicks off with an enormous breakbeat kick and distant reverb heavy percussion forging a shimmering atmosphere as energetic hi-hats and swirling tones crescendo into a deep yet celestial fervor. ‘plus two’ sees the pair spawn their heaviest tune of the bunch as rolling low end and trippy, churning synths give way to a barrage of energetic claps and racing ride cymbals sure to make any dancefloor explode. wrapping up the ep is ‘equals tree’ where ethereal tones and flickers of delicate acoustics defy a monotonous yet robust groove culminating in a beautiful display of opposing forces. we couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this stunning ep and we know you will revel in it for a long time to come
