in 2011 it got a little quiet around the co-productions of fraenzen texas and ruede hagelstein aka the cheapers. but since the beginning of the new year the lights dont go out in their studio doing beats and sound. next to releases on areal records and bar25 the uy063 was born. title of the name giving a-side goes back on a quote from paris hilton who wants to tell with >amazeballs< how super cool she finds things. anyway the two artists made it real with their concise bassline which will make the people reliably squeak more than hobby djane hilton. on the b-side things turn a bit more severe: egyptian summer quotes with samples the arabic spring in africa and produces a revolutionary ground mood which has never been heard before. on b2 however there are the cheaperesque absurdities on the microfon like we know them. depositing skillfully their own vocals in the belly of a hungry electro monster.

jay bliss is our first ever romanian signing. there has been a influx of superb romanian producers over the last years including a:rpia:r and the trend continues with bliss and his hermanndstadt collective. developing a style sitting somewhere between house and techno, with strong detroit roots he has released for the likes of immigrant, hudd trax and diynamic. pluto has been a staple of ralph lawsons sets for a while now, its a smooth and crisp tech house roller that recalls classic 2020 releases gone by, especially those of carl finlows. on the flip weve turned to skudge to give us their own take on pluto. weve been fans of skudge since they dropped their first single, and have had us transfixed with their excursions into pure analogue, loopy, dub techno ever since. their version of pluto is a different beast to the original, all stuttering percussion and menacing strings, a perfect counterbalance to the original version

lv return to hyperdub with a taste of whats to come on their forthcoming south london-meets-south africa album sebenza, due at the end of august. what lv make here is the exciting prospect of music influenced by south african house and kwaito, informed by regular trips out there and sessions with up and coming south african artists such as okmalumkoolkat, ruffest and spoek mathambo, but letting the influences of uk soundsystem music and hip hop bleed naturally into the mix too, creating a genuine hybrid.

inspired by life long dedication to music and a rebel in the underground dance scene santiago de chile based producer jeaven presents his debut on resopal. his playground effects ep is a three-tracker showing his personal definitions of contemporary house / detroity - minimal - or how should we name it ? simply ... music! playground effect, the ep title is a great description of jeavens music, where everything is in constant and vibrant motion. from the the way the tracks evolve - to sound design to the beat-programing – there are no presets. the title track seems to spin at two velocities at once, balancing a driving, linear groove with half-speed voices to create a sense of suspended animation. centralized goes even deeper, with a rippling bass melody that gets deep inside your stomach. all three tracks on this ep are like springtime on hot wax.

dutch master orlando voorn with a two-track release containing some of his pioneering material as format. rightly recognised as one of a handful of artists who built the early, crucial bridges between europe and detroit in the late-eighties and early nineties via collaborations with juan atkins and output for kms, voorn’s legacy is unquestionable. winning hollands dmc championships in 1986 and 1987 was the real career catalyst and there seems to be no let up in quality since then, either as a dj or a multifaceted, multi-genre producer. these two tracks are produced in 1993 and still didnt loose their magic!damn right and jam session have that the raw charm, edge and vibe sounds so current. energetic, melodic and broken, both tracks touch on a myriad of styles but what shines through is how modern electronic styles can be traced back to this sort of fantastic, unique output. format remastered could be sitting snuggly alongside modern house, techno, uk garage, uk funky and many more contemporary styles. this is a rare chance to grab beautifully treated versions of classic voorn material.

he is a butcher there by day, but at night he is the dj at a club called casablanca. i made my way to this tiny town in the south of italy and found dj steve. his 12 hour dj sets opened my eyes. this guy was the real deal. he was playing dubplates, vinyl, cassettes, and reel-to-reels. all special edits he had done over the years. i couldnt believe what i was hearing.

unusually for a record (for me,at least), constants collects tracks written in four very different moments in time: some are recent - so recent ive only had the opportunity to play them out just a handful of times - while others are over one year old. i really wish the story behind this ep would be a bit more interesting so this text could completely blow your mind but im afraid there were no dragons, no sex, no drugs and definitely no rock n roll involved. all four were mostly produced by me while sipping coffee and wearing boxer shorts in front of a computer. i could somehow try to describe the music on here but it would probably take less for you to give it a listen. however, if you happen to be one of the humans that prefer reading about music. anyway, im really happy to see these finally out, especially on a label i have always looked up to like vakant. i really used to think smoke, kaden and ozer were aliens at some hopefully you will enjoy this music as much as i loved writing and playing it out.

jorge ciccioli shows up again on rrygular. with his new release >southern tool< the argentinian dives really deep into the minimal genre. by focussing on the most important elements he created three handy and driving dj tools. and although the tunes are already well arranged there is room to experiment while playing. the track >sinatsuma< comes with a nice signature phrase that might get stuck in your head. the whole b face is reserved for the remix by franco cinelli who turned the main track into a dubby techhouse tune of almost 10min. nice one.
