its been more than a year and a half since life about to change and the anticipation has been almost unbearable, but the long wait is over as marco resmann is finally back on watergate with his brand new * run ep*. over the course of three tracks marco displays his production prowess and once again solidifies himself as a creator at the peak of his career. the ep begins with the title track * run * and its a perfectly executed techno anthem bridging an unrelenting drum line with crisp stabs and euphoric blasts of spaced out synths

the second release we do with french artists upwellings aka vincent raude who is professor of modern art at the academy of brest and has been recording music since 1996. his ep comprised two tracks. a-side >dubbin at the strobe< feat. michael zerang shows a nice interaction of drums and sounds developing a profound deep mood. drum parts were recorded in chicago by michael zerang, a real jazz legend who played a lot with peter brötzmann and joe mcphee, hamid drake. the flip side >lighthouse dub< has the aura of an place which is extremely isolated. the sound is at times extremely pulled back and melancholic and holds a sentiment that reminds us a bit of joy divisions >we are the young men<. the track undergoes a transformation beatwise when going more uptempo.

white asega co-­owner jack dixon wrote new curtains after a friend who was coming wildly off the rails told him he was a good producer but his tunes were boring. the original version was really sparse and about 300bpm. when jack moved to new york the parts got lost, so he remade the track a dozen times. this was the version we all liked best, although jack never wants to hear it again in his life. it sounds tough and tropical. our friend troy gunner remixed it, and turned it into something so loud and slamming it will knock your teeth out. after telling jack to stop making boring music, mark kodiak spent two horrendous years working with jamie kodiak on a song they ve called taargus. it nearly destroyed their friendship forever but we think it was worth it. it has brutal weapon sounds, nasty snares and an incessant “yo” that has been described as “annoying and unnecessary”. the artist tom pounder has created a blinding video for it that contains brand new colours. french born bass genius bambounou stepped up to remix the track, taming the wild stems into a hypnotic early­morning house stepper. it took us approximately 2000 exhausting facebook group chats, four cross­atlantic flights and one divorce to get to this point. we hope you will enjoy this record for the rest of your lives. rip ken tulley.

disco-boogie benchmark release from the west end deep vaults. mixed by larry levan this is a bonafide classic from the era. originally released in 1981, this release has been remastered for 2015 and releases in conjunction with the west end rights holders. my heart beats for the one i love

as one of the most exciting talents rising out of the uk, there is no better time for dc-10 resident richy ahmed to team up with new yorks seminal house imprint, strictly rhythm, and release * cant you see ep*. opening with a hard-hitting 4/4 beat * cant you see* features a funk-laden walking bassline adding fluidity to the mix, calling on the sound of the 80s and bringing it in to the present day. analog synth sounds are peppered amongst bluntly cut vocal samples, drawing inspiration from the clinical elements of techno, yet retaining the groove that ahmeds work is rapidly becoming synonymous with. the eps second track is ahmeds remix of logics 1990 classic * the warning*. the originals acapella has been repurposed by ahmed, looming over the tracks driving percussive elements. with a low-slung bassline interchanging with sizzling hi-hats, the remix pulls the original away from its blissed-out roots and firmly into the warehouse, providing new meaning to one of the legendary strictly rhythm’s many classic club anthems.

hello sailor is a party and record label based in brooklyn, ny founded by brazilian-born, new york based renata do valle. since 2012, the label has been staging events with an array of local and international artists. following the killer first release ( muko wapi ), featuring the joakim rework was never going to be easy, but luckily sao paolo dj duo selvagem step up ! acclaimed releases on the beats in space x label and universal cave have established them as a force to be reckoned with in the esoteric edits game. le freak is a cumbia style rendition of the chic classic, driven by insane synths and sampled drum loops, punctuated with low-pitched vocals in portuguese. tamanqueiro could be one of the greatest hits by jorge ben, if it wasn t written by elizio de buzios. that s his only release ever and now is a holy grail of brazilian funk, fetching small fortunes when found. here it appears in an extended and dj-friendly version.

the automated refrain on *capitalism* reflects the stark coldness of misanthrops work, before unleashing an onslaught of off-beat breaks to display brauningers deft, often unpredictable production style.

the trunkfunk label has been pushing out quality electronic music from its gothernburg base for fifteen years now. owned by local promoter nibc it has had an open hearted approach to its releases which have featured house, electronica and bumpy urban beats since 2000.

it is no exaggeration to say that ultrastretch has accumulated an array of outstanding releases and artists since its creation in 2011. one knows that being as renown a representative of the underground music scene as sammy dee is, he can easily sign music from any established artist he would like, the so called ‘big names’, however, when we look at the past seven releases on ultrastretch, the agenda here seems to be another. what has become an apparent and admirable feature of this label/platform and of sammy dee himself is his clear support for new music from young and yet to be discovered talents. it is on that note that ultrastretch 08 brings you romanian artist crihan. hailing from a small town close to cluj, alin crihan moved to bucharest in 2009 to be more in touch with the underground scene and music in the capital as it poses more opportunities for him to grow and develop. from dj’ing in the most various clubs in his home country, his first steps into western europe as a dj came earlier last year at no less than the legendary robert johnson club alongside petre inspirescu in frankfurt. producing under his real name for the past four years, crihan’s release for ultrastretch brings two tracks, setting the listener into two very distinctive paths. the a side, * uelden* is a dance floor oriented track. the first words to come to mind are groove and rhythm, giving the track a somewhat funky feeling overall. the elements have been crafted carefully and therefore appropriately placed just where and when you need them. by simply starting the track with a bass line and shuffling hihats he slowly develops to a journey that not onlyventures further into groove and rhythm but also in mind grabbing harmonies with deep/airy sounding pads giving it a comforting sense of beauty and obscurity. the b side is called a doua dimensiune, literally translated from romanian it means the second dimension. doing justice to the title the track does generate the feeling of being in another dimension. it is a very deep affair into mind-altering soundscapes, very atmospheric and at times dark and obscure. attention to detail is apparent judging by the overlayering of elements featured in this track. a constant rolling base formed of water tapping ambient sounds give way to harmonies made up of strings and random noises on top.

front left represents a very special corner in a very special spot on this planet. every week the front left people gather together to celebrate techno music. techno is what brings us together and what makes us family to one another. we rejoice listening to it, produce it, talk about it, share it and mainly dance to it. it is incredible how one physical spot creates so such magic and human connection. this label brings the productions of the front left people to the world. in the first release, you will find elad magdasi, a heavy dancer and an emotional producer. his productions are wide-ranged and loaded with a true rave spirit, combining an acid-line treatment and his melodic point of view. in the last two years elad s productions turned to the techno side, and now he feels it s time to finally let his music out. gathering knowledge and figuring out his style brought him to this point. his love for raving is what keeps his mojo going and brings the inspiration to his life. joining the first release is matrixxman (charlie duff), the talented producer who s been shaking dance floor with his hit -protocol- for already 2 years and now releasing his debut album on ghostly. not surprisingly, the connection between elad and matrixxman was also formed on the front left. the first release combines a slick collection of sounds.

those with a passion for heavyweight electro and drexciyan sounds have long held french producer franck kartell in high regard. he s been working away on the fringes delivering high-grade material for a decade, and finally got round to dropping his debut album, afterlife, last year. here he delivers a swift follow-up, effortlessly flitting between icy ambience, vector lovers style electro-idm, creepier compositions, and the kind of oddly symphonic, soundtrack-inspired fare that exists to stir the emotions. its a far more fragile sounding set than some might expect, but no worse for it. while theres little dancefloor material on show, kartell s downtempo fare is a cut above most of his contemporaries.

continuing on from vol 1 s theme of established artists working in disguise, music first vol 2 delivers another sonic assault with this absolute rollercoaster ride of a record. the mysterious scorpio t opens the ep with neptune rising , a squelching acid-bass boomer that can simultaneously spiritually elevate and physically devastate any dancefloor. rounding off side a it s followed by scandalous arthur s acid in my mind , a lo-fi tape-hissed jacking beast of a banger that sounds like it s genuinely been brewing in a vat of highly toxic acid for at least 25 years and guaranteed to melt your mind. on the flipside comes jax dax returning from vol 1 with the low-frequency moody slo-mo electro workout fucking computer that oozes bad attitude and booty-shaking basslines in equal abundance. bringing the trip to a close is kyrenic azalee with the self-titled kyrenic azalee , an x-rated new beat tour-de-force of epic proportions that will fry minds and bodies with its relentless energy. limited edition so don t sleep on it, not that it would let you.

gauss have been causing quite a stir with recent releases popping up on their own imprint as well as the mighty contrast wax in limited forms. here the outfit drop a superb 3 tracker kicking off with the title track >quadratic forms<, a huge electro jam, reminding us of classic erp works, sure to work magic on the dancefloor. next up >indeterminate variable,< winds it s way along with deep chords, and a totally addictive broken rhythm, this will sit great in a mix. lastly, >pauca sed matura< translating as >few, but ripe< a quote from carl friedrich gauss rounds up this essential package!

unless you have been sleeping it should be pretty obvious that wph head honcho red d has a weak spot for early belgian trance stuff. before trance was even known as trance that is… the early 90ies were the post new beat era in belgium and loads of producers were experimenting with new sounds to steer away from the blatantly commercial new beat chart stuff. so that is when the magic started happening.

german-born and raised product & our personal friend steffen baldo (aka ugly drums) has been doing quietly doing his thing for many years now. not one for fluff, trends, or anything of the sort - he teams up with his mate chesney for session of straight up deep, underground house business & the result is the alec holland ep. pressing on translucent green coloured vinyl.

norwegian duo trulz & robin throw down the gauntlet with the third vinyl-only statement from the cymawax label, delivering an acidic take on their patented ‘hot and crunchy techno with soul.’ the prolific pair from oslo have been a force in their country’s electronic music scene for over two decades, with massive singles for full pupp, eskimo recordings, and the cymasonic and cymawax labels to show for it. now, the agent acid ep finds trulz & robin infiltrating the secret lair of a 303 conspiracy and decoding a quartet of sonic documents full of heavy synthesized funk. the ep’s title track is a slinky introduction, featuring battling analog squelches and drum machine patterns while a disembodied vocal plays on top. “i disappear”, adding collaborator brokkoli on the voice, is a more in-your-face effort as its pulsating sequences give way to floor-thrilling breakdowns. the low end might of “magnetisk smultring” showcases trulz & robin’s experimental side, complete with a disconcerting middle passage that soon reveals gentle synth melodies over a hypnotic rhythm section. then “my body”, the release’s closing track, introduces mysterious feelings … percussive clicks and tones build steadily as dub effects, sharp washes, and ominous whispers take hold. the agent acid ep is another triumph for trulz & robin … a masterclass of covert nightclub maneuvers.

ive been over and over track running orders, while taking into account the limitations of vinyl. it needs to be a loud cut as anything increasing the chances of this music being played in clubs is a priority. the major development is, i d really like the a side at 45rpm, as before. as well as the extra volume, granular psychosis is an exciting prospect to be able to play at both speeds as its so fast. with this track list below, we re exceeding the time slightly for what i ve been advised is the best 45rpm quality. however, as zattrday has such a limited frequency range, that can be cut to take a very small part of the vinyl. i will talk to, about all this, and ultimately go with his advice of the best way to do this on the day. but i can say it will almost definitely happen like one of the two options below

the second jungle wonz release on trax, again with harry dennis gorgeous vocals, was sub-licensed to both new york label vendetta and breakout in the uk (both subsidiaries of a&m), with some fine remixes by former area resident justin strauss. -this was one of the first house songs i ever heard when i was like 14- recalls felix da housecat. -marshall jefferson has been a huge influence on all my basslines. people usually think that basslines come from 80 s pop bands but they came from marshall jefferson. marshall jefferson is probably the best house producer of all time for this period.-

porn sword tobacco and svn return to kontra-musik for another untouchable release far off the beaten techno track. trying anxiously to get with whatever is fashionable right now has never been kontra-musiks way of doing things, and the same goes for porn sword tobacco and svn. thats why were such a good match

head-honcho adam beyer delivers the next drumcode release following a monumental year from the techno heavyweight. two singles on the drumcode a-sides compilations, a multitude of releases on different labels, a 7 hour live broadcast from awakenings festival, 10 shows in ibiza for carl cox, cocoon and enter as well as an incredibly busy show circuit across the world. coming up there are a multitude of drumcode parties around the world including festival stages at major festivals and other high profile events. adam beyer is back on drumcode with an impressive array of tracks that will get the senses tingling and shows us what drumcode is all about. these 4 tracks are deep and almost melancholic in their approach to techno, using effects to really help enforce an ambience only beyer can achieve within his productions. the under lying throbbing of the drums drives this ep into the forefront of the heads down drumcode sound and have been heard in many of beyer s phenomenal sets throughout the year.

tangible assets returns with its fourth release in the series by label owner stojche. an outlet that’s given the berlin based producer the freedom to explore and distill his trademark dubbed out detroit fueled productions. asset 04 follows on from three previous releases and opens its account with ‘payback’. a dubbed out affair that’s firmly grounded in a powerful groove. stojche sets about reinforcing his strengths in composing a surgically laden foundation with precision placement of 909 toms, panned snares and staggered kick drums that proceed into razor sharp hats, blooming into subtle delayed pads which are further lifted by emotive and colourful chords. payback’s true charm lies in its ability to capture an honesty and sincerity that’s as captivating as it is transcendent.“tunnel’ continues where ‘payback’ left off and leads in with a booming cavernous kick drum, diving directly deep into a wonderland of mysticism, an effortless trademark that’s clearly evident within all of stojche’s productions. rich swirling pads rise and sit happily beside cleverly programmed melodic keys that tease in out of the mix, directly complementing the main elements of its structure. if anything, ‘sinister alley’ should be further proof of the macedonian born producer’s maturity in exploring the outer worldly and broken beat time signatures. his approach in creating both depth and enchantment is both pragmatic and effective. beautifully deep, undulating and atmospheric. ‘sinister alley’ opens with an airy signal that captivates upon overture. combining quintessential snares, a series of rapid fire hats that are anchored by an analog baseline, he sets about creating hypnotism with layers of atmospheric suspense, while fluttering waves of electronic circuitry waver in the distance. a multitude of pads and textures combine to create an ethereal feel and harmonic cloud to float within. tangible assets 004 is far more than just another chapter in stojche’s musical journey and much more than just another release on his label. it’s further evidence and development in a sound that truly captures the essence of the man behind these tracks. an ethos he’s been exploring for quite some time, catalyzing imagination and furtherance that’s beyond tangible.

brack, the new imprint from uk-born berlin-based producer bnjmn, is back in quick succession with another strong transmission from the label boss. after plunging into dirtier, darker sonic waters on the pitchfork-tipped brack001, chromed continues the descent. while the propulsive rhythms and skilfully stacked samples remain intact, these 4 tracks are imbued with subtler elements that become more apparent with repeated listens. drums don’t just bang, they scrape, stab and shudder, and the typically mesmeric synth-lines are swathed in analogue hiss and seething low-end. idiosyncratic aural details have always been a specialty of the young producer, but here they rise to the fore. the rapidly flourishing sound world that is brack comes more into focus, and it appears it is even more intricate and musically rich than on first glance.

macro has released albums by two of technos greatest live acts, kink and elektro guzzi. it would have been a shame if the two didnt exchange their special skills on each others killer material. and thats just what they did: kink remixed atlas into a tranced-out, peaktime world-domination slammer of pure euphoria. elektro guzzi let the snares smack and the pads build up on vodolaz into nirvana. dream team double pack: nothing better to let the sun shine through the summer of 2015. even at night.

need you back is a collaboration piece between the anonymous mystep character and vocalist frank h. carter iii. the original track and vocal laid the grounds for remix work by label regular jamie trench, and a most experimental remix by our new friend dudley strangeways. this release also commemorates 3 years of made fresh daily, it s been a hell of a lot of fun and learning so far. here is to another 3, mfd forever.

the original version is nothing short of a classic, but its as if the song had never been invited to a louie vega post-midnight global extravaganza. was the song not aware that spellbound dancing and high bpms were the standard for house music? normally, such a blaring disregard for nightlife decorum would relegate a song to the pits of sonic hell, but we’re talking about george clinton here! the original opens up with a g-funk groove that screams westside and lowriders. the listener is then blessed with clinton as he adds his sage, soulful and pimpadelic vocals, complemented by funkadelic singers asking him about the pains of the funk. the semblance of a beat that could drive the dancefloor into the morning hours is there, but in no way has it blossomed into its full glory. enter louie vega.

big with dixon, the drifter, alex niggemann, fur coat, thugfucker, frankey and sandrino. -sketches of pain- is a meet-up of two cultures which have been at war with each other for thousands of years. music unites where the world of men divides! here the magical voice of egyptian singer ahmad elsawy can weave its spell. intelligent electronica, ethnic and acoustic instruments, all join together once more to blend two worlds into one universal language. 3 remixes. luca bacchetti continues his series of endless remixes preferring a mostly dub feel with a version that retains some of the original elements, creating that tension culminating in what is the “suspended” sonic idyll that lately has characterized his breakdowns, by now a trademark of his. jon charnis, who we already know for his work on innervisions and all day i dream, has taken it in another direction to put together a true masterpiece, the tone here becoming more -trippy- with a pure afterhours atmosphere. the ever present and increasingly detailed groove add to that magic touch that has made charnis one of the most interesting techno artists on the american scene. last but not least one of our favourite techno artists, eduardo de la calle, surprises us with an interpretation that distances itself completely from the original, moving it into that enigmatic, mysterious and unregulated territory that is definitely his very own unmistakable way of living and feeling techno music. an ep that we expect will come-out from indoor clubs to find its best expression in exotic locations, deserts, beaches, dimensions that are part of that imaginary world that we call: endless.

hot on the heels of killer releases by label heads ryan crosson and shaun reeves, the latest visionquest release sees the label turn its head to deadbeat aka scott monteith. the berlin based montrealeler has been putting his own spin on house and techno for some time now, putting his stamp on esteemed labels such as cynosure, echocord and wagon repair. the jacks ep continues his fine tradition of putting out discerning fare, as he conjures up a new ep package that remixes his classic track, mecca drum track (originally released on wagon repair), from 2008. striking in its many intricate and delicate production wares, its a polished effort from the outset

having checked our records, its been a few years since the shelves at juno were graced with some music from the studio of italian dub techno exponent fabio scalabroni, so the arrival of a new 12inch brandishing his work is cause for celebration. the rohs! records label operated by belgium-dwelling compatriot andrea porcu is who we can thank for coaxing some new cuts out of scalabroni with the roots ep suggesting he s lost none of his production verve. root a will appeal to fans of the punchier tracks from the giegling discography whilst the b side track has a real slinky vibe to the groove that really gets in your head and stays there

founded in september 1981 in orléans, and originally dedicated to a kind of ‘modern punk rock’, d.stop released a first 7’’ the following year. this impossible-to-find debut release is now reissued on vinyl for the first time. the three tracks of the original 7’’ are augmented with 4 tracks that are released on vinyl for the first time ever on this very nice translucent vinyl 10’’ plus download code. after this first 7”, sonny brailleur (vocals) + phil lethon (guitar/bass) + klod lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines) , inspired by french band metal urbain, stylistically transformed into a more ‘synth punk’ kind of outfit and released their first mini-album nouvelles du front in september 1983 that has been reissued by desire on vinyl last september. one year after, the band already ceased to exist – or actually changed the name to les visiteurs du soir – to turn back to the old name in 1985 by releasing a limited cassette. despite the very few releases by this gifted act, d.stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in french cold wave.

for more than a decade, the bunker new york has been a nexus point for the transnational techno community. a chance meeting at the bunker in 2011 brought together gunnar haslam and johannes auvinen (also known as tin man), who became fast friends and collaborators soon after, conceiving a joint project called romans. the bunker new york is proud to present romans ambulare aude, a collection of atmospheric acid techno tracks following the projects debut on auvinens own global a in 2014.

after previous releases on hija de colombia, el nino andres (here credited as el nino only) debuts on new vinyl label called jackie brown. jackie brown aims to release series of mini lps, providing conceptual music stories, while at the same time not neglecting the main consequence of good house music – dance groove. house music infected with funk, soul and boogie grooves – we are not inventing nothing new, we’ve been inspired by many labels that came before. el nino delivers first story on our label, and in our humble opinion shows the very best side of house music with a groove and soul. though not all tracks are lengthy and floor ready, they make a great ensemble on “no boogie nights”, while tracks like “odds against tomorrow”, “thieves in the night” and “something ain’t right” work great on their own. everything is rounded up with amazing artwork from maximilian moser.

the fourth release from palms & charms sees the return of label co-owner barnaby bruce, ruminating on the perils of fine fabric care. we ve all been there – a lengthy session on the dancefloor playing havoc with the pile of your velvet coat. faced with this dilemma, barnaby reaches for the battered volume, passed down through untold generations of his family, detailing archaic yet uncannily effective methods for extending the life of even the most exquisite textiles. as he does so, the percussive jazz-tinged boogie of sweat on velvet takes over his mind, unleashing a wave of dancefloor euphoria. not to be outdone, pete herbert (reverso 68), unveils his own masterful fabric care techniques, providing a remix that will starch your collar and shake out the creases. not the same clothes, but something brand new. freshly attired, barnaby begins to notice curious and somewhat unsettling noises coming from the next room. he gingerly opens the door, and is confronted with a seance in full swing. strangers sitting around his dining table wait with baited breath for word from the other side. but the unearthly howling of tortured spirits is quickly silenced by the devilish groove of seance fiction. as the arp makes its entrance, every soul is up and dancing. finally, barnaby bruce also provides the eminently useful go go percussion dub of sweat on velvet – rounding out a sartorially elegant ep with something for everyone, from sceptics to lost souls.

washerman who is steadily proving his outstanding craft since many years, delivers yet another uncompromising oldskool house cut to shake the floors worldwide. slightly ravey with a bouncing acid bassline riding on a driving beat: a sure play. crowdpleasers remix refers to an end of 80s / beginning of 90s house music style by using retro drummachine sounds and a prominently mixed hypnotic synth melody, which both somehow remind us of old david cronenberg movies. crowdpleaser is an experienced cat and a long time contributor to genevas cultural dance music diversity. he has co-produced the critically acclaimed album *2006* with st plomb and has released many on-the-point tracks ever since. emerging from st plombs debut album country city country, these two remixes almost desperately have been waiting to see the light (on a 10 inch vinyl release!). we think: these two remixes make another swiss crop-of-the-house release!

the time has come for badboe to return to once again rock the floors across the planet with an explicit 4-track party breaks ep. the ghetto funk testament is badboes interpretation of the sound of ghetto funk that has been causing so much hype over the last few years. the 4 funky bangers on this double a-sided ep is taking it back to where it all started - as sample-heavy - upbeat party smashing music! this is the first major release from badboe since his successful second album pump up the funk that dropped in 2012. followed by an instrumental ep and a remix album, which very much celebrated the ghetto funk sound with tunes from the very best in the scene.
