infuse027 marks label head enzo siragusa’s debut solo ep on the imprint. for the occasion, he finally releases ‘little angel’, a track close to his heart which was debuted on his bbc radio 1 essential mix at the end of 2016. embellished with swinging drums, and gentle soaring pads, it s a feel-good masterstroke of deep house. on the flip is romania’s cristi cons on remix duty, who keeps things deep but adds a subtle attitude that builds throughout, all while paying homage to the original.

for our first anniversary as a label, we have prepared a compilation of tracks by our closest associates, collaborators and some randomly found favourites, who might also make future appearances on our imprint.

a producer, dj, nts radio host and label head, finn has come of age representing manchesters underground dance music scene over the last four years. showing up with a timely debut for defected that will stop you in your tracks, hes now turning heads way further afield from the north west. this 7inch features an exclusive instrumental. the formula for sometimes the going gets a little tough is beautifully simple, exposing an intuition beyond the producers years. at 135bpm its a straight pumper in theory, playing directly into the hands of festival sets over the summer, with its vocal loop and heartfelt lyrics it becomes so much more. gathering over 2m spotify streams on its initial release via tom leas london imprint local action, the track also received radio support from the likes of annie mac, skream and monki and support from djs as diverse as tqd, diplo and martin garrix. the appeal is universal and the execution is perfect, making this the kind of life affirming record that 2018 needs.

in its second venture into reissuing hidden gems of electronic music produced in eastern europe in the 20th century, little beat different issues focuses on the work of a czech composer, musician and producer, alexander goldscheider. this lp samples alexander goldscheider’s music produced for records, films, tv and even an art exhibition in the space of 25 years starting from 1975.

7 inch single such as the record itself (alcazar), the second single chaos takes its influence from the golden age boom-bap era of hip-hop, that is smooth as velvet and helps transmit its message of social critique, love and hope. woxows message has been perfectly delivered by 2 great rappers, akil the mc from jurassic 5 (who doesnt need introduction) and blurum13 (well known for his works with dj vadim), while on the other side the chorus sang by the legendary ken boothe from jamaica it sounds like the icing on the cake, topping the tune with his soulful voice and a work songs feeling.

new blundetto 7inch. the second from his new album “slow dance” . after ken boothe, blundetto invited another legendary jamaican singers : little harry (dancehall figure and burner of dubplates) and cornell campbell (whose reggae falsetto can be heard on island productions from studio one to bunny lee) to add their voices to his burning riddims.

word of advice to funk lovers, there is not a minute to lose. get on board of the big hustle’s spaceship. before we take off, let s do a little history. the band was founded in 2014 by bass player and composer sébastien levanneur and its aim is to bring together 70 s old school funk with the hippest actual sound laced with influences spanning from steely dan and headhunters, to snarky puppy and soulive. with mighty horn players, a rock and funky rhythm section, the big hustle s music has a very large variety of soundscapes. the first destination takes us to the washington, d.c. area with “turn up”. the groove is clearly go-go music flavored with the trademark sound of cowbells and of course it reminds us of zapp by the use of the talk box on lead vocals, performed here by saad el garrab. and don t miss out shaun martin (snarky puppy, erykah badu, kirk franklin amongst others) as a very special guest performing the talk box solo! second stop is “a curse, a blessing”. it’s an instrumental very much in the freddie hubbard vein during his cti years. the last leg of the a side ends with an instrumental interlude titled “flying donut”. double tribute to jay dee and flying lotus, the music is a simple hip hop loop based on samples. the b side takes us back into the past with two brilliant covers, involving rod temperton the late great british songwriter who scored some of michael jackson s biggest hits. now the idea for this b side is to do the opposite approach from the a side. taking 70 s and 80 s original music and make them travel into time to 2018. we first land with a heatwave song named “the star of a story” from their 1976 central heating album. track 2 is a herbie hancock song named “gettin to the good part” from his 1982 lite me up lp. this time traveler ep journey ends with an interlude. called “gimme dat”, the song deals with the need of new music, new sound. again, this blend of deep rooted funk laced with a contemporary edge is to be consumed without moderation. and do not forget that e.p. also stands for extended pleasure.

the debut offering from singer mark wystrach, lead guitarist jess carson and bass player cameron duddy, collectively known as midland. midland is the embodiment of seventies california country, all smooth eagles harmonies and heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics. their songs are intoxicating country sung with the twang of george strait. and it s impossible to resist. their no. 1 hit single “drinkin’ problem” earned best country song and best country duo/group performance nominations for the grammys 2018. if there was a perfect country album which combined those traditional sounds with modern hooks for me then this is it! (six shootercountry). this vinyl is only available in the uk as part of record store day.

its not often you stumble upon a 9 piece soul band, who were so close to signing a deal with mca’s new subsidiary source records. but group politics and other factors got in the way, and the band shelved what music they had recorded. no reels surfaced but fortunately a member had kept some of those 1978 recordings. between the two seemed to fuse great soul compositions without the durge of the disco era circa 1978. with well thought out lyrics, backed by keys, trumpets and a driving bassline we really are pleased to add the group to the super disco edit roster.

moby releases a black vinyl pressing of play b-sides, via his litttle idiot imprint. featuring tracks from mobys multimillion selling play era. play b-sides includes some lost treasures and some of mobys best works, including the global hit flower.

new version of the track with jamaican legend ken boothe + dub version. ken everything i own boothe played a significant part in covering sir coxsones studio one walls with gold and goodness knows that label fostered its share of legends. collaborating with the master, blundetto could have laid it on thick with heavy production instead alongside his discreet partner blackjoy, he created a gorgeous production using the purest of jamaican music, proving yet again that time has nothing on the suave tones of mr. rocksteady.

björk has released two remixes of the track ‘blissing me’, from the current album ‘utopia’, one which strips back the existing layers of song to purely her voice and a harp arrangement by herself, and another by the enigmatic artist serpentwithfeet who has gifted his heavenly gospel tones to the track.

we open 2018 with a soulful and fluffy masterpiece by the italian genius broke one. musically located somewhere in between max graef, 4hero and clifford gilberto -this thing called reality- is a perfect example for the successful marriage of jazz, soul and house. the narrative and highly elaborated 4-tracker, once again pressed on 555 individually colored vinyls, pushes the wonky-house-benchmark a little higher. in beautifully diversified arrangements broke interweaves deep and jazzy soundspheres with clubby, high energetic sections – a 12&#8243,,, multi-purpose tool for club use and home application. bigbait027 is the last edition of our random-color series. each of the 555 records is individually colored, colors tend from orange to yellow, shift between blue, red, green and white.

will saul and tee mango continue the primitive trust ep series with their third release. little love ep is a blissful 3 track package featuring a floorplan remix. little love builds warm harmonies driven by syncopated bass grooves whilst tee mangos dub of tejon heads for the sun with radiant, shuffling chords. for the remix, floorplan delivers unrestrained rapture on a peak time roller full of cathartic vocal bursts.

us producer d’marc cantu needs little introduction in the world of acid house and techno. since the late 2000s he’s been serving us quality musical output on labels like crème organization, m>o>s recordings, nation, altered moods or spectral sound, just to name a few. as well as his solo productions, he’s also one half of 2am/fm unit, alongside tadd mullinix (jtc / dabrye).
using a selection of hardware tools and analogue machines, his rugged sound draws on house, techno, acid, electro and hip hop and features crafty studio skills, knowing sampling and lovable raw aesthetics, defining his own sound that became known as jakbeat.
his latest offering for little beat different is, well, rather different in comparison to his usual club oriented output. it’s not as focused on straightforward dancefloor bangers, (although they are present here too), but features more experimental pieces, suitable for home listening purposes. totalling almost 38 minutes in length, this project has more of an album feel to it than a 12”.

‘utopia’ is the ninth studio album from the iconic artist björk, out november 24th via one little indian records. the album s artwork was created in collaboration of m/m, jesse kanda and james merry and reflects the records sonic direction, optimism, lightness, utopia. of the album she explained to dazed this summer that, ““maybe that’s why it became a utopian theme – if we’re gonna survive not only my personal drama but also the sort of situation the world is in today, we’ve got to come up with a new plan, if we don’t have the dream, we’re just not gonna change. especially now, this kind of dream is an emergency.” björk wrote, produced and recorded the album between reykjavik and new york, working closely with arca and writing for, conducting and recruiting a thirteen piece flute orchestra which will be on the road with her next year.

daß die belgier humor und eine vorliebe für körperlichkeiten besitzen, weiß man spätestens seit ihrem 94er erfolgsalbum »voodoo-u«, welches dank des exquisiten artworks vor allem in den usa zunächst einige ernsthafte vertriebsprobleme sein eigen nannte.
»our little secret« dürfte es in dieser beziehung wohl etwas leichter haben, wenngleich sontitel wie »rubber doll«, »fingerlickin‹ good«, »pussy« oder »man s best friend« keinen hehl daraus machen, daß man die inhaltliche fixierung keineswegs geändert hat.
aber wozu auch?! passen das kreisen um sex, lust und obsessionen doch hervorragend zu ihrem brillanten gemisch aus industrial , techno, bigbeat und pop. sängerin jade 4u gibt die vokalsichere schlampe, während der rest der band spielsicher für zuweilen ironisierte härte sorgt.
alles, bloß keine langeweile verbreiten, scheint das motto gewesen zu sein. und so jagt ein grandioses musikstück das nächste, verwöhnt den hörer ein ums andere mal mit phantastischen refrains und bleibt dabei immer dicht am industrialisierten dancefloor.

we got cuthead on rat life number 12. you probably know this guy. he is respected worldwide for his one of a kind house and hip-hop productions. lately he said, he got a bit bored with all the soulful jazzy sampling, the groovy shuffles and the catchy hooklines. so, he decided to do something a little different for rat life records. well, thank you sir! happy to present these five variations of banging sounds!

repress , swedish disco aficionado drop out orchestra has been plying his trade in the world of slick edits and on-point party fodder for the best part of ten years now, and now he comes to riot gear with a sure fire club classic to share. there s no prizes for guessing the source material on -holding on-, but in this context the evergreen crossover jam gets a modern steroid injection, having never sounded more contemporary than here. yam who? sidles in for a remix that does a subtle job, simmering down some of the familiar vocals and making a slinkier cut that still hits hard. -knucklehead- brings a little more jacking drum machine action to the table, but still disco is the main order of the day, while -where is my man- takes the prize with its on point jazz funk licks and stomping beat.

these four tracks delve deep into techno territory. built for the dancefloor and dancers who possess a somewhat acquired taste. both sides of the record are perfectly balanced. the first is quicker in tempo, with the second one focusing on the more psychedelic side of things. dempa cooks with the finest ingredients and naturally the results are full of the right flavours.

circus company and the mole have long been making eyes at each other across the same crowded dancefloor. colin de la plante?s primary project is synonymous with the off-kilter corner of house music we like to spend our time dancing in, and the labels he releases on are close cousins of the circus troupe. from wagon repair to philpot, musique risquee to perlon, it?s a wonder that we haven?t worked together previously, but finally that?s been put right with little sunshine. stripped back, understated disco grooves have always been the bread and butter of the mole?s sound, while infectious, cyclical melodic patterns are equally important in making his unique version of house music. on the title track, those elements are presented with full force, but in between the driving rhythms linger the most gorgeous keys, bringing a mellow introspection to the track as a neat counterpoint to the energy of the drums and arpeggios
