frits wentink s bobby donny label returns with a new ep from icelandic producer felix leifur. it s not often someone other than the boss releases on this label so you know this new one is quality indeed. leifurwho also works as david & hjalti and davíð sveinn bjarnason has two solid eps to his name on dirt crew. they show him to be a producer of succulent deep house and atmospheric prone beats. across four cuts here he offers jazzy vibes, organic percussive patterns and authentic styles filled with warmth and soul. opener unidentified blues is a loose jumbled of hi hats and cymbals, rhodes chords and shuffling drums that could well come from the studio of a certain moodymann. they are alive and enriched with real feeling from start to finish. hampton is another tender fusion of deep kick drums, tape echo and curious melodies all tied together by jostling groove that is beautifully incidental and unhurried. contact then brings more proper jazz drums to the table, with distant sax sounds and closely miced hits and spaces of cymbal all feeling loose and free as they suck you into their world. last of all, universal rim picks up the pace with a more rooted house groove, freeform percussion and wooden hits and trilling, echo drenched melodies all making for an intoxicating cut

dutch psych-rock artiste jacco gardner, and production partner in crime, the percussive culprit behind many a twisted tropical beat, nic mauskovic, have teamed up for a devilish ep of cinematic, balearic disco for their debut ep as bruxas. wielding a love for the wild and exotic, más profundo is a record influenced by the black arts, the sun, and the love of making nostalgic, summertime music.

originally released in japan in 2015 on dj emmas nitelist music as part of its acid ep series, only a small handful of copies of this 12inch made it to europe. jd twitch was lucky to score a copy and both tracks became firm favourites in his sets and much asked about. twitch felt this music deserved a wider audience so was kindly granted permission to reissue it on optimo trax. yes another double a side release, a1, hiroshi watanabes - infinity sign is a hypno ecstatic acid piano-tingling monolith. a2, kuniyukis acid air is a slow building organic percussive acid freak out that will cause a freak out on the floor. it is hard to do anything with a 303 that is interesting these days but both the tracks on this 12inch are 100% club classic.

lemme records is an electronic label that combines exploration of new sounds,cinematic landscapes with abstract and mental techno music. for the 1st lemme release we introduce the french duo charlotte isabelle. hopis is a glance at the various personalities embodied in the duo, the whole being wrapped in an ethnic universe. the guideline of their second ep is to expose repetitive and percussive beats from the stage to the public, bringing the audience in a gloomy world, and keeping on their path after their first release on lucy’s label stroboscopic artefacts.

2016 saw him release ‘the clay ep’ (with *that* physical graffiti tune) on new york’s seminal imprint mister saturday night as well as a track for a dirt crew recordings compilation. having recently remixed clap! clap!’s ‘hope’, jun kamoda’s debut for black acre is set for release in june.

coast to coast vividly presents the many faces of belgian producer and dj peter van hoesen. example in case: the title track is a no-holds-barred epic synthesizer composition, recorded at the producer s handwerk audio synthesizer studios. van hoesen s love for widescreen synthesis comes clearly to the fore on this track. it is a beautiful showcase of how techno can be emotive, driving and muscular, all at the same time. entrance to entropic city takes a different path, opting for a much more abstract narrative. shunning away from the dancefloor, it chooses to hint at concepts hidden below its sonic surface. voodoo benny s wishbone takes the listener deep into hypnotic and percussive breakbeat territory. menacing synth sweeps coil around the drums while a polyrhythmic groove shows off its tension, six minutes long. finally, in empire in decline - 2017 dub van hoesen reworks his 2008 classic. shuffling breakbeats form a new base for empire s bouncing synth lead.

isolation diaries is argentinian producer alejandro mosso s 2nd album. it comes more than ten years after his debut, hiperborea in 2005. he says i think the album is warm, emotive and nostalgic but not dark nor sad. it is percussive and melodic but not laid back and balearic. it is tribal and organic but still very precise, as only electronic music can be. the grooves are strong and infectious and the sounds are rich and satisfying, resulting in music that sounds very organic and unpremeditated. the album is accompanied by a burnt freidman remix of the track isolation diaries, and a ricardo villalobos remix of deardrum.

silas & snare offer up a killer 2 track ep, with a straight sub-heavy attitude made for darkened clubs.
“biometric” dominates the dancefloor with its sharply executed, big-room laser-like bassline as “patience” demonstrates the duo’s excellent percussive arrangement.
with rolling snares, ragged syncopations and brushed textures, this solid 2 tracker makes a fine club tool.

desiderii marginis long out of print debut album from 1997 “songs over ruins” is given a proper re-issue, carefully remastered by johan levin himself and with new artworks as cd and limited edition lp. a landmark in the genre, with it’s desolate, minimalistic and grief stricken odes to religious and spiritual burdens. a foray through abandoned ruins and a reflection on the passing of time and the impermanence of all things physical. outstanding in quality and production skills, this mesmerizing and foreboding journey is at times tranquil and melodic and also dives into more martial like percussive elements and industrial atmospheres. classics like these definitely need to be discovered still and also rediscovered, and it’s with great pleasure that we make it available once again.
