bestworks records proudly presents the debut of two young aspiring producers from berlin: felix fisher and fabian dikof. several years ago both of them learned their first skills in a youth project which was developed and run by non other than label owner and producer andre lodemann in a small town erkner on the outskirts of berlin, germany. this release is a beautiful connection between andre lodemanns former job as a street/social-worker and his work today as a producer and dj on the international circuit. the track by felix fisher is a more detroit orientated tech-house track with a darker approach and fabian dikofs is more dubby-house influenced. christian prommer and phoniques remixes give the release a great twist in other musical directions.

organs of love are the power-sleaze duo of james mckinven (organs, love) and alicia matthews (vocals, love). james mckinvens musical odyssey started with playing synth in (kraftwerk, suicide-inspired) electro band berlin blondes. he then moved on to altered images. after that he worked in genetic studios learning from the modern day genius that was producer martin rushent (human league, the stranglers, the buzzcocks). then went on to form one dove and worked with maverick genius andy weatherall. after that he drifted back to where it all started, analog electro, and miss alicia matthews. alicia matthews has quite a different background – one from fine art and performance. through working together at the same bar and having many intoxicating late night chats, they decided to try to get back to a 70s theatrical, musical performance: where live music and art combine for something beyond the rock gig vibe. and luckily enough, miss matthews has quite the pair of pipes – a true vocal delight. the result is organs of love … who frequently perform live around glasgow and have quite the reputation of thee band to see. videos can be provided, but they are not for the faint-hearted! not that optimo music ever provide a dull moment …

following a landmark ep by pacou, and after mike huckaby paid homage to tresor records steeped lineage with his vault-dipping 20th anniversary mix, sights are set squarely on the future with the labels next release from fresh techno outfit puresque.
puresque is paul brtschitsch and mocca—paul whose discography stretches back to the mid-90s and is widely regarded for his sensitive sound arrangements both on record and live, and mocca—real name michael kunz- who has been simmering his sonic pallet on the berlin circuit over the last few years. they met over a mutual love of vinyl and entered the studio together with the desire to create something raw, as removed as possible from the synthetic feel of purely digital production.

in 2011 some berlin based recordshops try to reclaim the streets with the so called >record store day< for the first time in germany. also kann was asked for a limited vinyl to support their concern. on that specific occasion we bring a new two track ep except for the regular series. kann rsd breaks ranks with an extra beautiful edit of the awesome witchwaver sunglitters, composited by nuremburgs essay. b-side builts back the bridge to the label and gives finally >aperture< from sevensol & bender the appropriate space. the track was originally released on kann00 in 2008. for the artwork kann is pretty happy to won over famed – a chummy art collective – for doing an impressing independent work.

a shiny picture disco for slow motion records release number 7 - disco wizard by francisco from jolly music. beamed from distant satellites via 1983 and picked up by a crack team of berlin based italian disco commandoes, the disco wizard brings to mind space, the tougher end of pre-84 italo, guys with beards and grace jones and amanda lear dancing the night away. a nagging baseline propels the track forward with alternating male and female vocals that coo and tease, whilst twinkling refrain evokes the giogio morders classic >the chase<. on the flip side the dub mix strips away most of the vocals and injects some serious strut into the beats. the rougher, tougher cousin of the original to send the boys and girls wild with cosmic desire. you have been warned.

langer returns to uncharted audio wax for the first time since unch002 way back at the turn of the millennium. with four tracks of the highest quality techno and house, from dubby atmospherics to peak time shakers, this ep showcases all the elements of the second coming of langer, a reclusive individual currently based somewhere in london. with additional production assistance from kone-r on two tracks (athena and sensitive), this ep will turn ears from chicago to berlin and everywhere east, west and in between. counting carl craig, biosphere, basic channel, mark van hoen/locust and marcellus pittman among its various influences, anyone with an ear for quality electronic music will find something to love here.

die drei stella - bandmitglieder elena lange, mense reents und thies mynther sind in fachkreisen keine unbekannten. der eine, reents, machte gleichzeitig als teil des duos egoexpress furore (heute ist er auch mitglied der goldenen zitronen).mynther wiederum ist eine hälfte von phantom/ghost, tasteninstrumentalist bei superpunk, theater-komponist ( 1534 mit showcase beat le mot, die heilige johanna der schlachthöfe am dt berlin unter der regie von nicolas stemann, filmkomponist ( die anruferin ) und überhaupt schon eine weile unterwegs.

deep series is back! the third deep series features a fascinating symbiosis of two individuals: ekkohaus and santos resiak. the two of them started to work on this project in 2009 and are now finally ready to share it with the rest of the world. during that time, ekkohaus made a splash with a whole array of top releases e.g. 2020 vision, circus company and cargo edition. santos resiak was also having a blast – e.g. after his last release at mothership. the three tracks on the new deep series fuse together the artists still unbroken enthusiasm for deep sounds in one melodic common denominator. >thanx but no< is a homage to the saxophone (btw: played live by robert wuerz). heavy with groovy loops the track creates a free floating ambience reminiscent of a jazz club in new orleans or a night club on an early morning in berlin.

alex flatners circle recordings is building another bridge to berlin and welcomes rene onze to debut on his mannheim based imprint. known already for his output on areal, his involvement and appearance in berlin calling and most notably for heating up the concerts of the paul kalkbrenner tour 2011 as the official warm up act, onze s flip a switch is an emotional, subtle melodic piece of modern dance electronica. something you will likely give a well-considered play, as its undeniable epic deepness will stand out, regardless of whether its being played on an afterhour, open air, in a warm up session or a prime time set.

october and john osborn are proud to present the inaugural 12inch on their newly minted bristol and berlin based house & techno label: tanstaafl records. tanstaafl is an acronym for there aint no such thing as a free lunch. we kick things off with john osborns debut release, epoch 4 backed with a darker, reduced, dub-influenced version. john based in berlin worked with october in his bristol based studio to create and produce some wonderful, raw, dirty analogue house music. both tracks were meticulously produced by herr osborn and recorded and engineered by october. laurie appleblims joined the studio session and he dove straight into the juno 60 and played the melody that finnishes the track off. tough floor business for your feet and mind, tried and tested around the world. a great start for this promising label.

music man records is proud to present the long awaited second mix-cd from marcel dettmann, resident at the notorious berghain club in berlin since even before it was called like that, and one of the key artists on their label ostgut ton. marcel dettmanns previous mix-cd was named best mix-cd of 2008 by resident advisor. last year he released his debut album dettmann to high critical acclaim. in the meantime he is also building the profile of his own label mdr, and of course he stays one of the most in demand remixers around.
the tracklist of conducted includes again a mixture of new to be discovered talents, old to be re-discovered gems, and a few usual suspects, such as sandwell district, redshape or shed. conducted is a timeless mix from one of the most important players in todays techno scene.
