welcome to the dark side. where chaos is the constant, distortion forms the standard and frontiers are built out of opaque shadows. mumbling voices are hunting you through a maze of creepy synthesizer sounds. welcome to antifuse. with their latest release, the berlin-based duo nerkkirn are following their path of experimental techno sounds, this time leading into dark shades of whirring electronic sounds. by creating a gloomy, yet groovy tune, antifuse builds up a perfectly conductive path within the unique sound system of snork enterprises. like a mysterious rollercoaster, four versatile tracks are pulling you into a vague ride through various spheres of electronic sounds. starting off with high speed into the deep and gloomy mines of underground techno, dipode unfolds its dark side in full blast. moving forward, antifuse chases you upside down on a roaring bass line merging into electronichangover. there, in a reduced atmosphere of sound, subtle tunes still forcefully keep pushing you through an odd darkness until everything, then, flows into a slight glow at the end of the tunnel - reversebias.

this year is the 2nd year of polen and right now we are presenting the fifth record. louis is a drummer, a bassist, a musician and a dancer and this is his ep for polen. it was a lot of recreating and a lot of shifting to get the end result, but it was worth waiting for. music for dancefloor, for mornings and afternoons, for dancing feet and chosen ears. the art work is made by anne-sophie kneer.

rising label 04 is coming with a very complete ness ep which includes a ben gibson remix. >chronoscope< is the intro track that opens the release, a beautiful landscapes piece where ness shows his love and dexterity for the ambient music. following, >pantropy< is already starting with a heavy kick, far voices layered between the percussions and a sweet melody developing and coming up with that >trancey< touch that ness is able to do. on the b side comes >uchronia<, the track from where the release take the name, a strong broken track with shaped and dynamic percussions where some >chronoscope< landscapes are used flowing as the track goes on. to close the ep ben gibson delivers a classy >uchronia< remix going simple but effective, a perfect balance between gibson style and ness track that totally works out on the floor and makes the prefect closing track for that release.

maybe one of the bigger open air releases this year. slow motion minimal pop house at its best. having started to spin hip-hop records in his hometown frankfurt / main he finally ended up in berlin. his >mirrors< ep on katermukke and >akumal< on laut & luise, where released to wide acclaim and already show his versatility and finesse. his remixes and co-productions for instance with nu and acid pauli does confirm his musical pedigree and make us eagerly await all the marvelous things yet to come from this fledging artist.

next up in the highlife world series, we ake a trip to kenya where our man esa plays the role of producer for the first time with super talented local musicians sarabi and makadem (aka the fela of kenya). instantly timeless on both sides, see for yourself.

nights are coming and going and faces appear and vanish, great plans are made and rarely held up to. while that is the mode that keeps the machine running, from time to time something greater can evolve out this fast paced spare time profession. that is to say, it is a great pleasure to smooth the way for our dear friend * kleintierschaukel* and his * blue elephant*. a rare species whose origins are found in * motomia* (a1), that odd place where sticky clocks tick faster than time passes. still all confusion is lost in the calm whispering of * juliette*(a2), a harmony of strange confidence. despite all its apparent harmlessness, it needs the soothing voice of our all beloved le- onie to let its vast figure withdraw to the rivers and show the gentle nature of this * unterwassermann* (b1). back in his element all notches are smoothed out and movements unite in a rythmic flow. this is not a documentary, this is the blue elephant: * tv ende* (b2).

haunted doorbell are timothy j. fairplay and matilda tristram who released xylophone together last year on astro lab recordings. picking up where xylophone left off unconnected thoughts on jacking is four tracks of naive melodies, rough slamjack drums, and new age atmospheres. starclash kicks off side a, with its dramatic arpeggios and sid chip crashes, techno to soundtrack the saturday night laser show at the planetarium. following is a night of adventure with its eastern scales and washy broken chorus unit hiss. on side b we have beautiful sheffield - an ode to electronic musics (possibly) most important british city and the title track rounds of the ep - house music for listening to while looking out to sea.

rat life returns with the pagan rites on catalog number 4. little is known about the band from sweden, first signals were received in 2010 when they submitted their track 03 to the ifm demo contest. in october last year rat life sent out a submarine to search the swedish coast line for the small hut where the duo records their songs (apologies to the swedish authorities at this point, who confused our research with a russian military threat). all four tracks are packed with bittersweet melancholia, reflecting the neverending darkness of cold scandinavian winter, still the midnight sun is always in sight on the horizon! already recorded between 2008 - 2013, rat life records is very happy to finally make this music available on vinyl.

tar hallow is a new label based in rotterdam, nl devoted in electronic music. first release on the label is from super unknown, producer dimitris damaskos (damcase) from thessaloniki, gr and currently based in rotterdam, nl. the ep comes with four tracks of distorted techno in a no control journey where there is no need for so many med and high frequencies.

the mysterious duo project overall severity landed on fabrizio lapiana s attic music with an intense three track ep called -helene-, second installment of the new hurricane series. on the first side, in -vario 7288- they make an intricate journey immersed in a dark noir melody with powerful techno rhythms and plenty of alien sounds. -unable to assess- on the b-side turns into a hypnotic-linear sound focused on an obsessive and scientific atmosphere where the loopy drums light the way. an ambient flow closes this work, -emotional harm- is an evocative result of accurate sound design full of bleep, breaks and distorted chords.

33-10-3402, also known as serbian-born artist/producer nenad markovic, returns to the esp institute for the fourth and final release in his opium den and whorehouse inspired mecanica series. metamorfoze is a psychedelic melting pot which can best be described as a train commute to a distant planet—our senses confronted left, right and center by unfamiliarities. its counterpart on side b entitled t bov boasts a pseudo tribal rhythm, yet its post-apocalyptic soundscaping takes us anywhere but the expected. at this point nenad has managed to whirl our imagination into a state of confusion so deep that were simply at a loss for words. its in these moments where we at the esp institute are most proud, with the birth of something absolutely new. bravo nenad, bravo.

public possession under the influence 05 is the first various artists compilation on pp. four tracks made for your pleasure. reworked to be heavily used. kicking off with the already notorious flyer edit by samo dj featured in various mixes and high in demand - finally available on vinyl. on a2 bell towers takes over the controls to deliver another one of his italo tools. where does he get it from? who knows. 100% rhythm in motion. flip sides! you get introduced to a new member of the pp family: tamas jones, one half of the australian duo hey convict, re-does an underground classic, your dj bag is crying in joy! tambien is finishing off things with their dubbed out version of a dutch synth pop cut.

ovc is from chicago where he has been producing, and playing out electronic stuff in one form or another for like ten years including a lot of gigs and some residencies for example in sonotheque. but it s only the last three or four years hes gotten into the deeper side of techno and recently into the deeper/dubbier techno style, his music is a little raw as he does it all in hardware just live to two-track. he weaves together deep narratives out of a collection of blinking sequencers and drum machines, always assisted by a generous dose of reverb and delay. ovc releases with us on telrea the first 3 tracker we have done. all 3 tracks being on the calmer side of electronic music, rich in depth of sound and motion.

continuing to push that deep, raw house sound chris carrier s adult only label presents a brand new ep from slapfunk affiliate and all round funkateer, larry de kat. larry keeps the grooves rolling in his native holland, where he has close ties with the much respected slapfunk records, along with good friend anil aras. his back catalogue includes another french connection, with the young masters at lazare hoche records. this time he links up with prolific producer chris carrier to give adult only a taste of his funky medicine.
on side a we have ‘diks on gruds’, a gruff dance floor banger with a deadly bassline and ultra crisp hats, which inject a solid energy from start to finish. on the flip another french hero, phil weeks, add his stomping chicago flavour into the mix reworking the track with panache. a is ‘noodlez’, a quirky joint composed of odd sounds wriggling and whirring above a slinky bassline counterposed with choppy percussion. finally, the ep closes out with ‘um?’, a sombre affair which pumps and purrs with minimal composition – subtle effects in the arrangement bounce around the beats, while a mysterious voice creeps in and out of the background. sublime ...

theres a lot of techno out there but none of it sounds like stanislav tolkachev. in the past few years the prolific ukrainian producer has molded his love for old school techno with enormous doses of experimentation and tension.

red motorbike has been a handsome vehicle for eddies own, ever-essential output, alongside some specially selected collaborators across 9 glorious releases. here, the head honcho rides out again, accompanied by the nearest and dearest from the label family. high road is a one-off double vinyl celebration of all the label stands for brilliantly reworked mid-tempo cuts, sample house jams, psychedelic soul rewires and head-nod heavyweights, all sticky with the funk and sure to work well from beach bar to barn dance. the track curation is second to none, and you can be sure theres no filler here!

a fan of limitations, the maghreban took multi samples from his casio mt-70 keyboard and used only them to make this ep whilst on holiday in north wales last year. most of the tracks were made whilst staying at portmeirion, the strange resort where *the prisoner* was filmed in the late 60s. the maghreban is a fan. the result is more mechanical than previous excursions, dictated by the entirely synthetic source material. no dusty vinyl samples this time. more techno. very early support from ben ufo and lefto.

rawax proudly welcomes the godfather of ghetto houz muzik rickey houz mon white to the rawax family! houz mon cousin is the famous lil louis & cei bei what words can describe the one and only houz mon? pioneer? party rocker? ghetto houz icon? lets start at the beginning houz mon grew up on the west side of chicago where he was exposed at an early age to chicago, new york & detroit dance music. befor houzmon, or rickkiqhouz was born i went by the name slick master rick in 1987 sign my first record deal with dj international records. the name of my trax brothers and sisters house on 13th street! aka halloween house this trax lunched the foundation and planted the seed of ghetto houz.

this disquiet is a layering of many, the process is the result: a slow-churning, microtonal wash, at once liquid and brilliantly crystalline in affect. two timbres fracture into many. a tectonic drone slides below and aerates a chorus as vocals flicker in and out of being, wrestling with silence. cacophony blends into order as subtle harmonies appear. what bence has written falls somewhere between an electronic production and a classical composition. where these two forms intersect is where disquiet occurs.

mystery producer myriadd goes deep again on this 4 trackers! myriadd is craig stainton, a producer that has also released as acid phreex and mantra on labels such as pinkman, signals and creme organization, to where he returns now with a new four track ep that explores plenty of mystic house and techno territory.

in part 2 of the laffer ep marco bernardi is going head down, straight ahead and striving for energy. attack of the dessert stormers is an overload of dark electro power, six minutes of squirming bassline-driven movement with surges of intensity from analogue bleeps and subtle drum pattern shifts. theres no let up on the flip side where two sliders brings equal force but in a more techno style. right from the start youll be grabbed by the bassline, but this one rewards extended listening as the track develops progressively with new melodies and metallic touches taking you deeper and deeper.

featuring an eerie spoken word vocal by thomas gandey based on a tarot game, the instrumental is a true dancefloor anthem with hypnotizing arpeggiated analog bassline reminiscing of italo disco, tech drums and synth arrangement. everything flows together into a devilish spoken word breakdown where pads take over and hell breaks loose.

sk_eleven is a new imprint focused on releasing original tracks from setaoc mass, uk. this venture will showcase old and new material with a view for quality, classy dance floor techno in its purest form.
setaoc mass - codes ep derives from where he spent most of his life, in and around manchester. the first release on sk_eleven showcases his style and love for tripped out melodies and driving low end. always adding the light to the dark in his productions.

raam is back with ep 2 where he delivers the massive hidden, a classic dub-driven techno banger. with its stabby synths and 4/4 rhythm its devastating on the dance floor. on the flip hidden gets a remix treatment from the talented baba stiltz (studio barnhus). baba buries the original into a deeper, sonic gritty journey. the ep ends with pallas which is a slow and raw house track with a moody atmosphere.

nyctophilia is the love of moody darkness and this concept is weaved into this super deep and atmospheric techno ep by dorian gray, where he keeps a strong focus on meticulous ambient loops moving into hypnotic techno rhythms. sitting in the corner of a dark room and feeling comfortable...-nyctophilia-...he says.

fkclub aka marc lapeyre did it again with the illuminati ep on astrolab. mixing modern synth and old school analog sounds to create a dirty, catchy and powerful track: illuminati. volta is new wav-ish with its dark synth bass and voice, like depeche mode on magic mushrooms. pilooskis remix of illuminati brings the track to a point of dissonance and trippy arp, where the man show us one more time what a flair he has for it.
