sixth release on the burgeoning diner city sound label, we have featured the legendary 1979 orchestra before on a well received collaborative effort with his buddy volta cab on dcs004. we decided to invite him back to release his own ep with us. 4 brilliant tracks, beat down and fun all round from this exciting young producer!
although its their first official release since 2010s disco anthem bubble bath and its accompanying ep, the swiss have hardly been taking it easy. they have spent the past 12 months taking their live show on the road, playing club nightsacross the us and europe including philly banger making time, fixed in new york, social club in paris, the modular summer sundance in the uk, and gracing the sydney opera house stage for australias vivid festival.
in between shows, swiss members tony mitolo, luke godson, and producer donnie sloan have been steadily working on new material, with a full album expected in 2012. double or nothing, which was written in a hotel room straight after tony played glastonbury this year as part of empire of the sun, is the first taste of whats to come from the group.

oliver hos label wires returns soon with the third installment, >nothing ep< by raudive. this release sees oliver pushing the raudive sound into a darker area featuring industrial influences within the techno grooves. the ep starts off with >shiver<, featuring an organ drone overlaid with bursts of resonance and feedback, with the repeated vocal phrase, >the sun sets inside you<. next comes >>nothing<. a strange wood block sound rides over the heavy groove, with synth stabs and echoing vocal sounds, it is relentless and hypnotic. we continue with >sigil<, the combination of monotone bass and synth stabs with the strange primal moan produce a creepy groove, - gothic techno maybe... finally we have >dial<. the last track finishes the ep off with heavy drones and white noise feedback, bringing to mind the relentless tones of lou reeds metal machine music.
following up on their 2009 debut miso release, the brighter side, version returns for another round of innovative sounds on miso 013,entitled >nothing<. charles webster, martin >atjazz< iveson and vocalist, emilie chick continue on the path of pure quality with 4 tracks of adventurous, modern, deep electronics for the dancefloor. >nothing< straddles many dance genres gracefully, appealing to the deep and soulful crowd while also giving the techy, moody folks plenty of aural inspiration. with tough beats, tasteful instrumentation and another wonderful emilie chick vocal, the 2 dubs and full vocal mix are sure to please dance floors, dens and dinner halls, the world over and the wonderfully dusty sounding atjazz remix is pure enjoyment.the vinyl is a one time only limited edition high quality pressing.
it would be a complete mistake for any house imprint not to include a us talent in his catalog, this wont be the case for apersonal music. on its third effort the label takes his first journey to the grounds of american house. from arizona, michael j collins with remix rework from bostons house-sons soul clap, plus the first collaboration for apersonal from maurice aymard. a side single nothing wrong with holding on show us the most eclectic side of the label so far. looped vocals, broken house with a saxo on top. michaels talent goes beyond genres mixing elements from different styles to create this great piece of music. soul clap delivers, as usual, top stuff! in their remix they speed up the bpm and add a hip-breaker bassline taking the original track to the dancefloor war zone. second remix from maurice aymard, himself at the controls plus venezuelan producer garnica hitting the drums, they take the track to a trippy slowmo version, what maurices catalogs as his best remix so far.

stroboscopic artefacts third release sees label owner lucy and underground trailblazer ercolino, inspired by novelist michael endes imagery, create two visions of a nihilistic future. the 12inch begins with the tale of fear incarnate >gmork<, the most powerful weapon for controlling society. the a-side is a portrait of this terrifying beast: slinking baselines come from its black heartbeat and white noise grows from its unearthly appetites. fat, squelching noises emerge as light, hope and ideas are quashed, ground up and eaten. the sound is viscose, violent and deep seething red. what emerges is a genius slice of dark, brooding techno crafted from the nectar of your darkest nightmare. the story gets even bleaker with b-side >so the nothing grows stronger<, a narrative of blips, bleeps and squeals. this extreme dub techno track is a mutinous call to arms, the sound of the insurgence. here beats forge together, fortified by a devastating charge, till the track crunches away into nothingness
yc‘s adultnapper has built a reputation for himself that not only commands respect for his highly evolved production skills, but also for his unique musical visions that steer him down his own unique path. not interested in following the current pop-trends, adultnapper turns in a freaky two tracker using a sharp, modular and timeless electronic sound palette. ‚almost nothing‘ is a complex and reduced spacer that features wonderfully processed drums and endless tweaked out studio trickery. haunting smatterings of melody, synth texture and paranoid-funky vocals drop in and out of the mix as this deep acidic groover charms you from the inside. poker flat regular patrick chardronnet provides a wicked remix that begins along the same reduced, textural tip as the original, yet builds into a breathtaking organ led harmonic climax. dramatic, uplifting and main-room friendly chardronnet‘s remix opens up the spectrum once again as audiomatique continues to surprise. ‚white fingers black hair‘ is the b side jam from adultnapper. a skipping, similarly complex and meandering groove is jacked up with some dirty hats and a playful synth theme that revolves around the track, amongst building strings and gated snares as its freaky climax is unveiled. super, off the wall stuff from nyc‘s chief mindwaper himself
bearweasel are london-based duo dean muhsin and louisa page, a pair who in less than a year have a string of singles and remixes for some of the best labels around including 8-bit, tsuba, supernature, perc trax and murmur. the >sorry for nothing ep< is build around two original recordings, >risk< and >many more< and also features a remix from moon harbours dan drastic. first out of the gate is the original of >risk<, a track built around a shuffling percussion led groove. the spacious arrangement, intense stabs and low-key bassline lend a depth and quality to this cut that make it truly sublime. simple, understated yet devastatingly effective. next up, dan drastic reworks >risk<, turning in a remix that stays true to the original whilst imprinting things with his own sound. the drums are toughened up and the vibe is a little more dubbed out, providing an alternative that sits perfectly alongside bearweasels primary production
after releasing through flamingo, dos palomas negras & the hardsoul label, we pleased to have baggi begovic on board in the stealth team. a timeless club record!
after two amazing releases on the enemyltd series by zahn and recently the joel mull its no time for the labels strongest artists to represent on this various artists ep. rob dowell steps up from lobotomy records, alessio mereu from italy already showcased his perfect style on analytic with his bomb ep. decimal is the next hype on enemy, he is doing extremly tight production and will have a new wave of very high class tunes released after the summer. his track on this ep is a good taste of what to come! last but not least zahn himself tops it all of and goes on where enemyltd 04 left us. in not so many words: a great ep!!!
with this deft , elegant weave of selected vocal cuts and deep yet undeniably driving melody ricky l creates a unique form of pure, stylish house that takes a recognisable pop aesthetic and remodels it for the soulful, sophisticated dancefloor
