parts i & ii of friday 14th were previously released on french label astrolab but these two new versions evolved through playing the track in our live set. while in la last year, we were asked to go into the studio and record something... this is what came from that session. also on the release is a great dubby-proto-house remix from roots unit, and most excellent it is too.

who said the wait wouldnt be worth it? the brothers in house fritz zander and sven von thülen have made themselves somewhat scarce over the past year. after having impressed in 2008 with their ep >get up<, remixes for artists including ratman, elphine and oorsprong, and tracks on the watergate 02 compilation, their audible activities the following year remained confined to fritz zanders superb 12 inch >connection< and successful compilation appearances on >ten years cocoon ibiza< and >time warp<. now there is finally something new, and the current zander vt release certainly lives up to the promise of its title: >some more< picks up where >get up< left off. its fourno-frills house pearls prove resoundingly that continuity doesnt have to entail standing still.

who is maetrik and just how does he get his beats and bleeps to sound so good? we cant be the only ones asking this question as recently eric comes on a string of big hits for audiomatique and mothership. erics been banging out stormers of late, but with dumb-unit its different. here we do our typical du magic and present something a little bit slankier, a wee bit dirtier, and a tad more tripped out. something that dancers and freaks can equally get their head around, something that will blast through the sound systems straight through the summer! and so without further ado we suggest you dig in ... and get ready ...

the amazing situation return with two sides of love – gangster love and sutra love. the gangster side is an amazing clash of a skit from american gangster (heavily inspired by the eddy grant produced >funky like a train< by the equals) with donna summer. the resulting blend is as inspiring and surprising as it is unlikely. but with their usual disregard for boundaries and rules, situation seamlessly melt the two original cuts together into a perfect slice of discoid boogie that absolutely sets fire to the dancefloor. on the flip side, love of a deeper and groovier type oozes from sutra love. its a case of yet more top class, bass led disco action thats firmly focussed on maximum dancefloor reaction. this is without a doubt one of the best situations ever! and with heavy releases on disco deviance and their own imprint already under the belt that really is saying something.

ark has got an eclectic and organic sound, something in between. from his origins as guitarist in a number of 80s funk bands, most notably trankilou, where he hooked up with the legend that is pepe bradock and onto the great matthew herbert & losoul with their first collaboration, belle lurette in 99. the alleluyark ep series from 2003 reaffirmed as his status as chief protagonist of experimental, groove led house and techno. his 2005 long player on perlon, caliente won him critical acclaim, which is furthered by his more recent works together with shalom (as shalark), krikor (as krikark), cabanne (as copacabannark), mikael weill (as les cerveaux lents) and dolibox. his cannon of remixes is as long as the channel tunnel, reworking the likes of stephen beaupre, mr. oizo, archive, mossa, salif keita, slabb, fym, robag wruhme

and.id is an artist whose musical talents are impressively far-reaching, as his recent installment of the back to back series with jazz interpretations of mobilee classics powerfully brought to everyones attention. after a long spell in the studio with his b.a.n.d and a variety of instruments, and.id has gone solo for his next project, i will be there, and hes taking us back to the dance floor where he is equally at home, as his other releases on mobilee such as first talk have shown. title track i will be there lands heavily with a punching kick drum and there is little release before the bass and groove come in, meanwhile b1:five brings back and.ids signature jazzy sounds with some melodic pianochords. b2:erotica brings all of the elements together with a strong melodic bass line and punch kick, making it the stand out track of the release. tthere is something for everybody in this package and it will definitely get you moving….enjoy!

truly beautiful deep house records are things to be treasured, akin to proper songs that will last the test of time, not made to meet a fleeting fad. this is one of those records and a real pinnacle & departure for blm & pawas. although the term deep is an oft overused one, >waiting game< personifies the genres true key traits with a subtly moving groove that gradually builds, using layers of subtle percussion and a rich, warm synth motif to make a rich tapestry of sounds before finally introducing the beautiful female vocal that gives the track its name. patrice scott liked the track so much that he agreed to remix it - his first ever outside of his own, excellent, sistrum label. using plenty of the original track parts but taking it a different direction, patrice really has come up with something special. the track moves along with snippets of the main vocal and clever use of the main synth, the groove being underpinned by patrice s classic sense of production before moving into a more classic >detroit< ending - a mindset with a bigger, more dramatic sensibility

sometimes collaborations really work. when the combined energies of two very different people come together in a studio something magical happens and they also have a lot of fun. dimitri nakov and martin dawson (king roc) are two very exciting young producers with very different approaches to music and sampling, and their combined energies has created something glorious & original called sao paulo nights for john digweeds ever impressive and diverse musical melting pot, bedrock...

jamie lloyds sophomore album gets remixed by some of our favourite newcomers and older legends. tuff city kids are gerd janson from running back and phillip lauer from arto mwambe and brontosaurus. as expected these two come up with something unexpected, think bobby orlando.

blind minded lives in london and is famous for his live appearances and has his third release with trapez ltd with >mr propre<. his first two release on trapez ltd was supported heavily and where charted by the italoboyz so weare looking forward to his follow up. >mr. propre< is the return of what used to be of the detroit sound blended with modern spontaneous changes in mood and crossovers which will put a smile on your face. >mr. propre< is the most technoid of all three tracks, whereas >jazz 2 me< is a bassline monster, with vocalquotes about jazz music stating it as >a state of life<, >something that you live!<. altogether a sexy cool groover! >the melting freak< is the most deep of all three tracks. here you can hear blind minded playing his analogue instruments (also a real 808 drum machine) being funky and cool rather than going for cheap thrills.

we welcome this fantastic producer on trapez with this piece of music which is quite different from most of what we get today. the title track >ghosts< feels like as if klaus nomi and kraftwerk were performing together... something we would have loved to have seen but which never happened. this track is not for the people who love it safe but for the adventurous and the wicked. voices like sirens striking with high pitched tongues being counteracted by basslines with a surface that can only be described as rough as chunks of splintered steel. a brilliant stop and go feeling shows that christian martin is the master on the steering wheel when it comes to controlling the movement.

on his new album, pantha du prince, who lives in berlin and paris, claims: music slumbers in all matter, any sound, even silence, is already music. the mission, then, must be to render audible what is unheard and unheard of: black noise, a frequency that is inaudible to man. black noise often presages natural disasters, earthquakes or floods, only some animals perceive this calm before the storm. black noise is something archaic and earthy. the music on black noise balances precariously on the slippery threshold between art and nature, between techno and folklore, which lends it a certain spectral and intangible aspect. black noise also features a couple of special guests - noah lennox of animal collective sings on >stick to my side< and tyler pope of !!! and lcd soundsystem plays bass on >the splendour<.

this e.p. is a composition by two artists who release their feelings thru their music. g.marcell presents >breathe<. on this side of the e.p. breathe is a musical adventure were g.marcell expresses a time period of release from the everyday drama. sometime in our everyday life we need just a little relief from the everyday pressure of the issues we encounter. this is the reason for the inhale mix and the exhale mix. the inhale mix is the more laid back groove where as the exhale mix is the more energetic groove strictly for dancing. on the other side of the e.p. >necessary sanctuary< is amirs experience of the dance floor when he hit the club scene. the original mix is full of energy and a for sure crowd pleaser. the 3am mix is more of the mellow late nite groove. over all, the e.p. is something for everyone to relate to in one way or another.

the innervate label is on a roll and the last release featuring: pedro delgardo, fer br and dj mika did amazingly well! this funky piece of techno was a great release for the label.

it was only a matter of time. two genre-defining artists together ... pop music and dance musics most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. dj hells >u can dance< is an interpretation of an unreleased bryan ferry song, but its one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.
hell, of course, has been riding high on the success of >teufelswerk<, his masterpiece of a double album, a journey replete with fruitful experiments and club bombs. one that has yielded both massive hits and not a tiny bit of controversy along the way. ferry, meanwhile, has been as busy as ever—recording a new album, performing in places as far afield as siberia, opening up the cannes film festival ... basically just being bryan ferry.
and now here they are together ... it all started in 2006 when hell dropped in to meet ferry at his west london studio. at first they discussed hell remixing an old roxy music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (u can dance).
they had similar impressions of one another — hell: >i was impressed by his aura and his look.<, ferry: >he impressed us with his sophistication and charm.< fast forward a few years later, and hell is hard at work on teufelswerk and putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned song titled >u can dance<, a serpentine moroder-esque disco burner. with the help of old friend peter kruder, of kruder and dorfmeister fame, hell fashioned the song into a smoldering nine-minute highlight of the double disc set, in which ferry turns in a typically assured vocal performance.
ferry may seem like an unexpected fan of dance, but hes been going to clubs since he was a teenager, and in his lengthy career hes worked with legends such as nile rodgers of chic and david williams from michael jacksons band. >its always a pleasure to work with people from that genre, who follow a singular groove.<
the single follows in the wake of hells >the dj feat. p. diddy< which has won over floors and critics alike with its nearly 30-minute radio slave remix and fine work from the likes of deetron, jay haze and others. on >u can dance< hell and ferry have similarly pulled out all the stops for the remixes, gathering up work from the grammy-nominated producer carl craig, dfa mainstay tim goldsworthy and pop electro superstars simian mobile disco.

sometimes a label like syndikaat gets many demos from upcoming artists and sometimes suddenly something stands out so much it just must be signed! barnum & bailey are the new guys and they send us a slammer. very cool uplifting minimal style that just works so easily always. synth driven beats with a pumping bassline. its just like that, listen and let the music take you away.
