with a number of tracks already under his belt in 2011, including a remix of vector lovers on soma records, andreas returns to ideal audio with his latest work, >tenses<. the title track is a combination of bubbling synths and abrasive strings, yet these are kept at bay by the tracks innate underlying deepness. on the remix, another ideal artist - sebrok - keeps thing deep. his relentless beats are consistant throughout as he builds a frantic synth to its peak, before falling away into those beats once again.

the first immerse release of 2011 sees the label taking on a fresh approach while retaining the same atmospherics that have made it an essential fixture in the bristol music canon. outboxx are made up of jacob martin and matt lambert, and their sound is rooted in groovy, analogue house music. with an emphasis on jamming, theres a loose, live feel to these tracks that has an instant appeal but drags you deeper with each listen. >kate libby< kicks off on a swung beat and warm pads, before dropping down to p-funk bass and sparse synth flourishes. >berties groove< places jazzy rhodes playing at the front of the mix with a classic drum machine workout ticking away in the background. this is soulful, authentic house music with not a clinical midi pattern in earshot. despite coming from a different angle, the outboxx tracks slip neatly into the immerse legacy thus far, pointing the way for a year filled with more of the spacious, haunting club music the label has become renowned for.

i just woke and its pretty cold outside. i havent opened the window yet, but i somehow know it and im listening to these six tracks again and try to make an approximation of why and how i have done this ep. they are pretty different from each other but tell the same story or at least are part of the same one as a matter of fact. maybe they were done as an excuse for my overdue album which is scheduled again for this year or maybe just because i was going through some odd times and needed to immerse myself in doing something. in this case music. more the latter i guess. ok so, the opening track is in a way the end of an era and the last one the opening of a fresher one. and the rest fills in the gaps in between those two moments i guess. i hate conceptual things anyways. i never know or want to know why i do certain things. concepts define something before it already begins its existence and trying to explain why is pretty useless. so here it is. the recording of a certain period of time in my tiny existence. with collaborations with jaw (dop), my brother atilla, who is also responsible for the artwork, and jonny cruz. by the time its out itll be a distant memory for me but hope it lasts a bit longer for anyone that listens to it

electronic duo blondes follow up their 2010 touched ep with lover / hater, a two track 12 inch inaugurating a three part series on rvng exploring duality concepts. recorded live to 2 track tape at atlantic sound in brooklyn, these set staples capture blondes at their headiest and deadliest. >lover< places a shamanistic meredith monk vocal sample atop a ritualistic rhythm, transporting the track to a trancefloor spirit worlds away. >hater< builds on cascading keyboard cycles before breakiing into an e2-e4 on the floor bounce.

to put it in a nutshell, in just two years, selah sue has fulfilled her dreams. to keep her grounded, she has insisted on keeping the songs she wrote during her teens for her debut album. its a way of reminding the world that she has not been unfairly spoiled by destiny and that before prince, cee-lo green, radio play and incredible press, there was just a teenage girl, with her guitar, who was chosen spontaneously by fans on the net.

act re act: daaaaark is the typical expression used to define act re act. uplfting synths, spastic latin percussion, and a pummeling 808 bring some light for the harder moments.
ms. minnie: kitty ms. minnie, age 39, was caught saturday evening sneaking a 909 into the club and having her way with the hi-hats. she ripped it up in honor of larry heard before being forcefully removed by security. the whereabouts of said 909 are unknown.
the origin: a minimal bit of italo kit shoved through the hatch of a nasa shuttle (it was recorded in houston, tx after-all) and sent around several moons of several planets. what was discovered is only now being made available for public consumption.

great circles, the label run by the same people who host the inciting parties in philadelphia let loose their second 12 inch release. this one features tony g whose tous la part le même sort lures the listener in with a deceptive sleight of hand before locking in to a spacious groove. all jacking bass and dusted chord progressions, this is the sort of luxuriant burner perfectly primed for after hours dance floors. three diverse remixes from jason carr, andrew joseph and hero/victim demonstrate the vast talent thats been rocking philly warehouses and lofts for the past few years. limited to 250 copies for the world.

after hearing this release, one could ask himself why deetron and ripperton never did something together before?! with their debut together for music man they deliver two tracks dancing on the thin cord between deep techno and house. a true blinder!

incl lucy remix ! pfirter has delivered more than one immortal record since his first release on stockholm ltd in 2008, mindtrip music. his talent for strong and captivating music is widely appreciated and it didnt take long before he got picked up by labels like clr and figure. with his monad release on lucys stroboscopic artefacts label in 2010, pfirter charmed the hardcore audience. with both the party crowd and the critics on his side, juan pablo pfirter enters 2011 with his audiometria.

it seems that dapayk used to listen to a lot of hip-hop when he was younger. his latest ep for still vor talent >let go< has got these influences written all over it. the title track starts out with a male vocal and some sounds that sound a little like scratching before things then quickly head into the direction of the club. the vocal by singer camara could not be more reminiscent of 80s house music and this track has got all the soul and groove of this era. beneath the delicate vocal and sound patterns lies a wonderfully simply staccato house groove that is sure to get everyone shuffling. on the flip things get a little more techy with >nneka<, a deeper and more melodic tech house glider that gently takes the listener towards a harmonic state of mind. beautifully arpeggiated pads, a warm soulful groove and some reverbed vocals make this one. last up is the sample-based tech-house stomper >upyo< featuring production partner jon hester. this is loop heaven: a pushy beat loop with many snares, reverse samples and an unexpected saxophone melody make this one the perfect changeover track from warm-up to peak-time. this ep shows dapayks skills to combine many musical influences into his unique still of tech-house music

a full length lp by ruins, an italian electro-wave duo. ruins formed in mestre in 1978 with the intention of experimenting with electronic devices and mixed media. they mainly created music out of self-expression without any intention of joining the mainstream. interested in multimedia, they had a strong visual aesthetic apparent via their album art, videos and projections. its where italo meets minimal wave. the -fire- videos are a must-see in order to grasp the full effect of the song, check out the first version here and rare second version here. the lp entitled -the art dance- features a collection of songs recorded between 1980-1984, some previously released, others never released before pressed on 180 gram vinyl and housed in a lovely hand-numbered glossy gatefold jacket lined with the bands history and photos, and accompanied by a lyrics insert sheet. tip!

dj ageishi is like the sensei of japanese djs: a true legend and active since 1973, he can scoop from an incredible musical wealth of experiences yet has his ear to whats happening in the now. this mixture of knowledge and curiosity for the new also characterizes his debut on internasjonal with colleague dj akin, who left his mark outside of japan with a remix for brennan greens >900lb man<. rattling drum breaks from the funk end of disco are the backbone for a soprano sax lick slightly remiscent of coltranes >a love supreme< that floats on top of noise distortet sheets of synth before the >rain parade< makes a total turn ending with a comforting lullaby like rhodes melody. prins thomas boils it all down to a simmering slow dub remake, while mark e lets all the single ingredients patiently lets every ingredient from the original develop its full-bodied flavour before kicking up the heat.

one of the highlights from the recent nightstarter 8 compilation – on my mind gets a remix treatment from the hottest trio of club cowboys right now. roberto rodriguez digs out his 909 out of the closet and works out a mid 90s inspired slammer, not far away from the golden times of strictly rhythm. added sample vox and the shuffled drums drives this up to the max before dropping some serious organ madness into the game. sure fire floor burner. for the vocal shy, we have included the dub as well. mano le tough brings us some of his trademark balearic deep techno which we just love to play! damn fine arrangement coupled with soothing melodies and a churner of a bassline makes this one of his finest remixes – we are happy to welcome mano on moodmusic for his first, but definitely not last guest appearance.

niconé is back on stil vor talent with his very much loved project that has already brought us an absolute scorcher on stil vor talent before. again he features the wonderful vocal of narra on this hypnotically happy percussive house affair >caje<. the original track grooves on some free swinging percussions and a softly moving house loop making this a very subtle killer for any afterhour. while narras vocals carry the track as light as a feather it is after the breakdown that things get really musical! for the remixes stil vor talent has aligned a high-quality and diverse array of current top-notch producers. things go dark, minimal and very technological with pan-pots take on >caje< that still keeps a very soulful element in its approach. then, berlins coolest kid on the block adam port knows that every track gets better with a lot of claps-and he sure is right in his interpretation of >caje<. this is one of these tracks that sucks the listener in so deep that there is simply no escape: repetitive yet constantly changing and constantly grooving while remaining very pure! for his very soulful groove dirty doering adds some wonderfully melodic synths and guitars to his track that turn >caje< into an even more summery house affair. this release is filled with tracks that will long echo on the dancefloor!

>all tied up is propelled by a proper bass line, repetitive chord vamp and otherworldly percussion, minus yogis create a tracky groove before dropping a synth and strings combination. the remix comes courtesy of juju & jordash! the juju & jordash gospel mix of >all tied up< is the soundtrack to a very disorientating sermon at the church of deep house psychedelic drama. heavy, dubbed out music for heads.

following the success of his debut ep, komisch is delighted to put out the next instalment from sp-x. like his first release, the three tracks on field lines never end capture the essence of contemporary techno - austere and functional, yet deeply resonating. field construction starts with crackle of a broken power cable accompanying brittle percussion and a juggernaut rhythm, before dank filters, distorted riffs and a combination of doubled up claps and hissing hats bring the track to an irresistibly dark climax. internalize follows a similar path, but straight away sp-x plots a more ominous course, with a muffled filter making way for jarring riffs, a grubby acid line and killer claps. last but certainly not least, flux is constructed using dense rhythms, deadweight, iron bar beats and a howling siren riff that sounds like it came from beyond. all the while, sp-xs rasping, firing percussion weaves in and out. these are deadly effective techno tracks, streamlined for use on big speakers - but dont take our word for it, try them out yourselves!

echolettes second release manzanillo 002, follows up with a similar tropical -journey feeling- as felt on echolettes first release, perhaps setting the style for this excellent new label. whereas before it was pygmys and bongos, this time manzanillo has a distinctly more mexican, if not aztec vibe. the original mix kicks off with steady galloping horse like drums and percussion, which is suddenly met by a lovely melodic bassline, which again is doubled up with what sounds like a xylophone. just as your wondering where its all going, a wicked little riff with delayed minimal vocal slices enter the mix keeping the groove going on and on forever and ever... another brilliant and quality piece of music from jackie misfit

there are few artists making seriously great music while not taking themselves too seriously: that difficult feat is one rarely attempted and even less often successfully carried out. benoit & sergio have seemingly effortlessly managed to pull off that contradictory trick, producing songs that sometimes seem like musical open letters: editorials narrated in the voices of unidentified, yet totally recognizable colorful characters, read aloud against a backdrop of beautifully lush, warm and sensuous electronic pop music. the unexpected juxtaposition of such pristine production and playful lyricism — first exhibited on 2009s highly praised <i>what ive lost</i> ep, which included the brilliantly sardonic single >full grown man< – exemplifies why benoit & sergio are one of the most unique and interesting outfits in dance music. its good news, then, that the washington, d.c./berlin-based outfits eagerly expected dfa debut maintains both the charm and expert craftsmanship of its predecessors. single >boy trouble< (the titular counterpoint to >full grown man<) launches the ep with all manner of reasons to take to the dancefloor: an exigent beat, a beckoning synthline, a bassline of understated funk. sergio lethargically sings about girls, making note of both their ups and the downsides, without the hindrance of subtlety. >i love girls/with legs like a ferrari< he states before noting (bemoaning?) the fact that >you need poetry to turn these girls on.< its a song for the best part of the night, full of compulsive rhythms and a climax that builds on sparkly synths. the accompanying remix from visionquest — the detroit-bred, berlin-based label led by producers seth troxler, ryan crosson, lee curtiss and shaun reeves — amps things up, making the beat a more prominent, driving and club banging force. the flipside features >full grown man< and >what ive lost<, which reveal themselves to be worth more than a few revisits.
