these redux releases are like buses, we dont hear anything for ages then they hit us with three killer eps in a row. following the grand corporation and machete savane comes the return of phoreski. we have not heard much from phoreski for a little while, but you will soon hear why when you put the needle to the record on these two new tracks. he has been busily building up his studio into an enviable aladdins den of vintage kit, wires and analogue recording equipment. all synths and vocals you hear on these tracks come from phoreski, no samples, no guests, no edits. he has been hinting at this raw, analogue authentic sound for a while, but these tracks showcase a producer at one with the machines. >brown biscuits< comes across like some lost italo/cosmic gem, but via the north east of england rather than the lakes of italy. >machines< flexes tight proto-house rhythms with some bass that will make mince meat of lesser club soundsystems whilst the feuding synth lines fight for attention. this is proper body music, play loud!

after all efforts were put into jacob korns debut album during summer 2012 uncanny valley strikes back with namesake jacob stoy and his very first solo ep after his s51 for the uv010-compilation. everything starts with redensart, a sunny piece of music with a sneaky bassline and easy synth pads that come across like a warm rain shower: its house in the end but feels like so much more. hauswart is an impressive example of how one can create a whole atmosphere of sound within two minutes. its short but feels so comfortable that you really like it to go on and on forever. start is maybe the most conventional deep house track on the ep and seduces with catchy synth chords and thrilling drums. finally gegenwart brings things to a jazzy end with tipsy synths and tripping percussions. the artwork comes from none other than jacobs father olaf stoy, who is a painter, lyricist and porcelain designer still working in jacobs hometown rabenau near dresden.

following the great reception of hiverned 01 here is the second installment of hiverns edit series. in the a side, tbs >invitation to love<, a highly anticipated track that is finally released after becoming a fixture in john talabots sets. based on twin peaks osts >laura palmers theme<, the track rephrases angelo badalamentis clas- sic from an acid house perspective. adding analog rhythms and a crispy bassli- ne to the ethereal chords of the original composition, this refix manages to keep the dream-like atmospheres of the song while transforming it into dancefloor- ready groove. the idea is simple, the results are magic. on the flip, marc pinol repeats appearance on the series revamping some lost australian minimal-wave track. in the vein of his previous >wheels< edit, the track conjures gloomy atmospheres and sparse rhythms with gritty synth melodies. on the top of it, the barcelonian producer adds dialogues from spanish cult art-house film >arrebato< (hence the title) multiplying the obscure ambience of the tune. once again, the release comes in a limited edition 10 inch wrapped in a handmade silk-screened sleeve. no digital and no-repress.

here on their self titled 12 inch, monkeyrobot deliver four diverse tracks that showcase their skills behind the boards, the keys, with a keen ear for the dancefloor. kicking things off, >brick stomach< is a synth-heavy four-to-the-floor 120 bpm joint that comes off like a floating points visit back in time to 1980s detroit with its rolling snares, arpeggiating synth bassline and cloudy pads. next up, >northern light< filters shimmering space disco vibes through big, thumping instrumental hip-hop drums and moody analog bass. on the flip, >rose gris< takes things in a funkier direction at 100bpm with its syncopated drums, irresistible lead, squelching bassline and all manner of synthesizer explorations. rounding off the ep is >last days<, which still manages to inject a funky 80s analog sound into its melancholy downtempo vibes.

total control dislocate expectations with this inaugural home loan records 12 inch. not the charged up paranoid vox/guitar/drums combo that we have become accustomed to through their visceral live shows - instead men with machines producing pensive proto-tech experiments and tense industrial wave. includes the original version of carpet rash which was re-recorded in full band mode for henge beat, and two previously unreleased immersive rhythm tracks formed through collaboration between guitarist mikey young and drummer james vinciguerra. vinciguerra would fire deranged beats down the hole while young would jam over them, watching waves in a trance from his perch at phillip island. on the flip we find two reconstructions from home loan manager michael ozone. carpet rash receives the club re-contextualisation with ozone fully utilising its penetrating synth hook, while new age hop climbs the arabic scale.

pianobatacazoo provides us his most powerful set up ever: vibrations and deephouse oriented strokes charged with baroque sensuality, decorating and presenting himself extra sensitive through solid percussion lines that come from uk-funky, counteracting with elegant shines of real instruments. mngc, a more minimal cut built from an explicit mutant bass line that works as the spine that receives new tools through the playing of the tune: dry falterings, bipolar personality that makes his own the mysticism of the original dubstep or the synth motifs connected with the intensity of the deep techno.

after their sure-fire succession of great releases dam swindle end up on the excellent freerange imprint. and if you like the words deep along with atmospheric then this will most definitely appeal to you. from the opening title track with its lush, moody nu-groove styled pads and thunderous hand-claps these three productions simply ooze class and intensity in abundance. next is >gotta know< which rewinds back to classic house sounds and injects a sense of melody into the already swinging rhythms and punchy, detroit bass. which is then followed by >brotherman< and yet more in-depth moods, this time accompanied by jazzy, scat styled vocals for added diversity. finally we have wolf music main man krl stepping up to remix brotherman and a rather sterling job he does to. making great use of the vocal krl brings us a slowed down version with his trademark shuffling drums and a dynamic arrangement. piano stabs and a cheeky boogie synth sample all help bring his own sound to the track and round off the package perfectly.

for the first solo ep on horror boogie, fedka the irritant steps up, after his outstanding track on horror boogie 01. fedka the irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band pest (ninja tune), alongside ben pest (panic bridge, victim, bonus round). he is also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. he has released on panic bridge, alongside the other pest members and his trombone techno live sets are something to behold. here, he drops four varied tracks, starting with the behemoth >words for friends<. a heavy slice of wonky techno, with a big kick and rasping synth. next up is one uncertain eyebrow. a building, funky, fuzzy acid-laced track that drops harder and harder as it goes on. on side b, calypso-flavoured, jazzed up >stick it< progresses on to a become a warbling bass effort with a smooth hip-hop vocal. last but not least, is >you only die once<, another funk-laden monster, with a killer slap bass line.

after selling out all previous releases to elite djs and collectors worldwide, the highly mysterius artifact imprint is back to its original aim, that is crafting obscure sonic weapons for disco ninjas! a side 15 minutes is credited to milanese crew love supreme and it is a mesmerizing disco rock rework that builds up to a climax that takes no prisoners. bottin has been playing this to massive dancefloor slaughter and has finally decided to share the blame. on the flipside speed is an enthralling car chase or grand prix if you wish, with throbbing bass, lasers and cowley-esque synth stabs, while frisbee is a rare italo groove, a funk gimmick topped by acid synth patterns, a latin lover voiceover and packs of sultry italian girls chanting >disco! disco!< and definity getting what they are craving for.

the second single to come from miaoux miaouxs acclaimed >light of the north< album, the limited >autopilot< e.p brings us the original track backed with a heavy-duty line-up remixing select tracks from the album. the original title-track is a glittering synth-fuelled hymn to heartbreak, which incorporates elements of bass and hip-hop, while recalling the stylistic flourishes of boards of canada. reworking >hey sound!<, glasgows very own auntie flo and esa bring their exotic stomp to the table: a percussive journey soaked in dubwise holy water. tom furses remix of >stop the clocks< is almost like a reigned-in, beat driven version of john elliots outer space project, thick cosmic ritual elixir bubbling over the sides. already having made his name on skreams disfigured dubz, echo park takes on >autopilot<, turning the original into a cast-iron lesson in militant rhythm. echo parks real talent however lies with integrating elements of the original seamlessly with his own punishing sound palette.

after their much lauded double pack on boe recordings, gaining support right across the board from djs such as ben sims, dj deep and doc martin, to name but a few, nite visions second outing arrives via the meteorically rising chiwax label. with a slew of releases under their belts, craig stainton (mantra, myriadd, acid phreex) and nigel rogers (perseus traxx, orpheus, sir leon greg) have once again combined their knowledge and love for warm synth tones.
