in 1985 severed heads were asked to release a retrospective, so they dragged out bits lying around. the compilation was titled �clifford darling please don�t live in the past�, spread out into a montage over four sides of vinyl. this compilation includes live recordings, raw demos, unreleased studio recordings and solo pieces from each member of the band during from the first five years. the results are a striking hybrid of the avant-garde industrial and pop.

i walk around in the solar field. from here, the surrounding beams look like cylinder­thick, motionless rain or comet tails painted onto the sky. the tower is all white because the sunrays are pointing directly at it, white in an erased way, like if you leave an empty patch on a drawing, and surrounded by a halo. i go over to one of the sun mirrors. it�s huge and darkish and cold when i touch it. i don�t know if it�s cold and immune to the sun or transfixed in a much more extreme way than the desert. a solar plant can take much more sunlight. it has direct access, like a clip through into the thing outside. the widest zone, like the highest point when it�s lightning. the sunlight is magnetic. intense heat from the mantle pushing against the crust to get closer to the sun.

nathan melja is the same young frenchman whose debut ep we released under the name melja late last year. since then, he moved to new york and worked at mister hq for a few months, manned the light booth at the mister saturday night and mister sunday parties (djs make the best light guys), and spent most of his time outside that making music. leo draws is the culmination of that music-making, two murky but beautiful tracks centered around vocal samples and one off-kilter number aimed at the dark corners of the dancefloor.

having recently played an eight hour set to a sold-out crowd at london�s oval space, the prolific dusky drop a trio of moody club tool tracks on 17 steps as they continue their european autumn/winter tour. a club tool in the most effective sense, lead track �lydia� is dark, nagging acid groover that builds and builds throughout its 6 hypnotic minutes. with all the melodic material based around the lydian scale, �lydia� was originally inspired by a bizarre, trippy dream alfie had in which everything was all based on the lydian scale. a homage to classic techno, �bitter lake� is a hard-hitting surge of looping, percussive energy and detroit-nodding rave stabs that build to a hoover-fuelled breakdown release. rounding off the trio, the brilliantly titled and uniquely composed �infinite libido� again explores dusky�s more percussive tendencies and has been a regular feature in their dj sets for the past year.

after the very polish and the very soviet cut-outs, zambon continues his endless trip around eastern europe with another excursion. now it s time to follow him and dive deep into dance music of former yugoslavia. the very first volume of the brand new the very yugo cut-outs exposes a little known scene of editors based around the cult club 20/44 in belgrade, serbia. a duo of djs and producers called kompleks is responsible for three edits here, while the label boss zambon supplies the last one. tracks range from poppy new wave of jakarta group from serbia, through psychedelic rock of seid memic aka vajta from bosnia, yugo boogie of kim band from serbia/macedonia and sleazy synthpop of videosex group from slovenia. the unique vibe and amazing skills of yugoslavian musicians from the rich and unfortunately still little known scene are guaranteed to move both you and your local dancefloor. hvala!

javi frias is a dj and producer from madrid that has been playing soul, funk, disco, boogie & house since the mid nineties in clubs and festivals all over his country and europe. always looking for soulful records around the world to make people dance, his dj sets are ever elegant, addictive and eclectic, full of energy and mostly on vinyl. in the last two years he has started to produce his own disco edits, respecting the sound of the original but adding some retouches to make them perfect for the dance floor.

there are some elements in electronic music that make them timeless, elements that if melted togheter they can give an impressive result, to the mind and to the body. sawlin - ursprung is the first album of the career of sawlin, after his debut in 2010 he evolved like a wonderful orchid, an orchid that never followed the flow of the other flowers around him, but found his own way to the music. ursprung is the result of an interminable evolution in the mind of the artist, 8 elements that complete a circle buit on a very mysterious athmosphere, like a film that you never saw, but you always had in your head, something more bigger then a memory, and something more deep then a picture.

vintage house freaks and soul kids: rhode & brown from munich come back on toy tonics with a great, funk driven, instrumental ep. featuring a remix by upcoming producer hodini. rhode & brown come from the growing young, new house scene of munich. since 3 years the kids host their own night at munichs kong club and doing music. after a few remixes (check the one for brooklyn based label good company records) the boys release their first ep of 2015 on toy tonics. the sound? they proudly call it weißwursthouse produced on a stradivari-build mpc 1000 in their beautiful studio in the heart of munich. influenced by old soul records, detroit legends theo parrish and moodymann, as well as new experimental house from the scandinavian labels around studio barnhus. everything with their own unmistakable rhode & brown touch.

herva is the artist name of hervè atsè corti. he lives in relative seclusion from the dance music world in the italian countryside around florence and is one of the most intriguing producers to work in house and techno for a while. his early musical life as a drummer, plus his extra-musical interests in engineering and electronics has informed a unique, freeform, and very tactile approach to dance music. its house and techno that doesnt adhere to the usual influences of detroit, chicago or berlin.

french heavy weight producer and long time friend of the label, rocco, is now back on colourful recordings! going back to his techno roots sporting a gritty lyon sound, a-side viana, is building around a funky hook and housy beats. b side sees rocco picking it up a notch with a techno groover basic channel esque style. on remix duty, romanian marcman steps up to deliver an almost toolish remix of viana thats been hammering the dance floors during the summer. mastering by andreas at schnittstelle.

ok, we are quite slow on releasing records, but here is our next release on film. we stumbled upon the artist on a reseach for a music video - in the end we didn t discover a video director, but denial.of.service, an artist in many fields including music, video and performance art. as he ist active since the early eighties, he was involved in numerous projects, doing productions, remixes and videos for and with artists like david bowie, attrition extrawelt and daf. if you take a closer look on his artistic activity since the early 80ies ever then you will quickly realize there is a whole universe to uncover foald from around this artist. our suggestion: start with this fine ep, featuring a hidden secret artwork that unveils in the dark.

it�s now pretty obvious that disco influence has not only been powerful in western clubs. it has also influenced musicians all around the world, and west-indies islands are no exception to the rule. indeed, at that time in the caribbean territories, local musicians and producers seized the sound of their us counterparts, and make it their own, melting-up disco, funk, and boogie (even early rap) elements with some more traditional or local styles. apart from some obvious titles which made it to the charts, very few was known on these productions until recently. from an initial pre-selection of 40 tracks, favorite recordings and waxist teamed up to narrow down the actual tracklist. with no pretention to be exhaustive, this selection represents a tiny sample of a broader ocean of quality caribbean disco/boogie tunes. favorite recordings & waxist are very happy and proud to bring back lights on some of these rare tunes.

city fly are very excited to present their latest 12 inch, this time coming from long time friend of the label and all round powerhouse kez ym. the leicester label have long been representing for the east midlands underground house scene, bringing local talent to the world and bringing global connections to their locale. hot off the back of their 10th release celebration va and a strong offering from legend tim toh, the japanese connoisseur kez ym is back with more of the goodness that has made him a favourite of the label from such an early stage.
the ep drips with kezs trademark blend of deepness, kicking off with the heads down groover of *bump into the sky*. next up *eagle eye* builds around crisp 909 drums and a super tight bass line. pure classic vibes from start to finish. over on the flip *my joy* is underpinned by deep, jazzy chords and finishing off we have *spiral traffic* which takes things to a new tip entirely with an almost latin feel to the chord patterns.

cristi cons and vlad caia are household names that really need no further introduction. their dj sets are techno stories well told and their live act is already making waves worldwide. amphia is first and foremost the platform they use to broadcast their finest works. such is the case of sideways, their latest lp, containing more than a dozen tracks coming your way trilogy style.
the first part reveals six tracks on two heavyweight discs. although most of the tracks fit the usual sit musical approach, the listener is greeted with a wide pallete of rhythms. assemble is an atmospheric dub infused with violins and orchestral echoes. permissive starts things up with a playful bass progression and continues with lush pads and cryptic voices. brooklyn�s deep moody synths and monster groove render it broken poetry at it�s best. for sure it will resemble those early danceable mornings. on a more joyful manner we are presented next with bootcamp s sturdy baseline and playful modulated vocals.
mandatory claims a whole side of the second disc and so does come around. while the first is almost experimental but danceable and warm due to the occasional driving percussions and 303 sounds the latter is the star of the show. come around is 15 minutes long and comes with a story too. a great collection of tracks, a great story that backs each one of them makes the first part of the sideways lp trilogy a treat to listen and dance to.

released 25th november on the seminal strictly rhythm label, the album is vastly different from the majority of electronic albums out there. it has a decidedly soulful, blues-y feel and instead of the heres ten club tracks, will this do approach, tim took his time and immersed himself completely into the record, surrounding himself with some of the best contemporary jazz musicians around, including jim mullen (guitar), rod youngs and enzo zirilli (drums), pete wareham (sax), jay phelps (trumpet), john donaldson (piano) and ben hazleton (bass).

behind is an expansive collection for hackford, who draws from experimental, process-oriented composition techniques to create sensorially engaging dance music. an ethos of presence, enrichment and dissociation pervades behind - by stripping away the constructed-ness of so much dance music, hackford allows himself to produce music that is as much a joy to create as it is to share. an ambassador of -ecstatic states- as he calls them, hackford s music suggests heightened temporal zones may be ubiquitous if you allow them to be. behind is a proposition of such ecstatic states, its music pulsing vitally at opposite ends of the bpm spectrum. distinctly unmotivated by polemic dialogues around dance music, behind seeks a more soluble musical space for unmitigated engagement. it is music inspired by transitions, no less vital before sunset as it is after the curtain call.

after remixing idriss d�s �alger�, eduardo de la calle returns to memento records with a 2 tracker. the spanish vinyl maestro, analog solutions label owner and beatz documentary maker delivers 2 majestic cuts of deep techno at its best, inspired by the early ricardo villalobos music released on kanzleramt or playhouse some 15 years ago. following the same ideas of building and de-constructing sound patterns made up of pure minimal elements, eduardo here tries to be as simple as he can: direct and repetitive, back and forth non stop compositions that take on a life of their own as they expand and contract. the ep was made in a week of intense and mesmerizing studio work. * die einführung* is a 10 minute number where korg poly 61 arpeggios and spellbinding melodies draw the listener down a psychedelic hole of frequency shiftings and lysergic percussions. * sonst werden* is built around hazy chords and ghostly vocal snippets soaked in a feedback of tape delay, sinister ambient sounds vibrating in the background.

following the release of the �extraction� and �hydraulic pressure� 12�s earlier this year, adventice � the incendiary collaboration between dj deep and roman poncet, returns to tresor. while taking the groove up quite a few notches, and as per its two predecessors, �exsurgence� unfolds in three different versions around a common theme.
the �main mix� opens into hammering chords yet taking a delicate turn into an synth-heavy refrain. on the flip, the �reduced mix� follows the same composition while playful and cinematic as the use of hihats add a skip to your step and pick up the pace. the �percussive mix� and its rapid drum patterns, exude a fragrance of vocals triggering endless soundscapes.
with this new three track single, dj deep and roman poncet deliver a fierce package, another warning for what is still to come for the duo.
