to get things started we have a gorgeous soulful disco number, heavenly vocals, classic disco strings, brass stabs, tight baseline and the drums are pure class, tastefully extended in all the right places so as to stay as true to the original as possible, guaranteed to get your crowd dancing and singing along. on the b side we have one hell of a disco boogie funk bomb, plenty of breaks included in this stomper of a track, sharp drums, powerful vocals, funky baseline, guitar, piano, synths and some brass to boot, mix it all together and you get one hell of a party record.

tekseven records. hailing from belfast n.ireland. the opening track orbit by tekseven is a trip into an off beat world of heavily laden beats, baselines, synths and sci-fi, evolving vocal lines seemingly sampled with precision from an old 50s t.v set somehow reminiscent of robert hood. the remix from uk artist binny continues along the sci-fi theme with a beautifully crafted ambient intro which turns into a thumping good retro feeling techno track! on the b-side teksevens atlas introduces us to some straight up no holds barred high quality light and shade techno that will loosen any dance floors rivets.last but not least is an excellent remix by mattias fridell verging more on the dub side of things with the deepest spacious bass that is a hallmark of his fine techno creations . all in all, a great first release from a brand new vinyl label. expect great things in the future.

when global house player m.in takes things to the max, fans of his energetic trademark style know what time it is. its time for lowest depths, quirky synth sounds, jackin rhythms and heavy percussive drive, fueled with original vocals - for an allover feverish, addictive vibe.

the one and only eric sneo graces phobiq for the first time with this three-track journey into sleek, chrome-plated techno. the title track has been surgically arranged so that the cavernous percussion and spacious effects can take over the whole track with their immersing strength. the grinding drums in combination with the hypnotic, filtered riff running throughout the track kick things up a notch and ensure maximum overdrive. on *stanch*, snappy drums provide the backdrop for otherworldly hi-hats to pound away while the focus shifts to the immense rhythm section and percussive mayhem. as expected, an apocalyptic breakdown ensues and all hell proceeds to break loose. *interleaved* picks up from there and seals the ep with classic chords that mutate over time together with more sonic manipulation, which ultimately serves as an exhibition of effortless mastery.

nathan fake and wesley matsell are both producers best known for their releases on border community - nathan fake has been putting out psychedelic permutations on dance music since 2003 for the label, while matsell recently released the blissful total order of being ep for them earlier in 2014. cambria instruments is a new label venture from the pair, and for the first release they have teamed up for a split 12- of kaleidoscopic electronic sounds. nathan fake s contribution black drift starts things off, an initially inauspicious tripping beat gathering momentum and morphing into a far-out piece of fuzzy house underpinned by sunken low-end rumbles. it s the kind of brilliantly wide-eyed track we have come to expect from the producer. over on the flip, wesley matsell s bismuth is a more shadowy, moody affair, a tight techno rhythm holding things together while synths spin wildly. a highly expressive, lysergic trip and one of his finest productions to date. all in all, you couldn t hope for a stronger start from a new label.

having emerged from a crop of disco flavoured releases and vocal led remixes a couple of years ago, ashley casselle and asadinho decided to embark upon creating a series of stripped down housey techno dj tools to be used as experimental moments within their own podcasts and dj sets. this degree of honesty, and a desire to hark back to the roots of the music that drew them together in the first place, resulted in the sublime and bouncy *ceefox*. grainy 70s b-movie strings atop an addictive bassline equals a subtle yet huge club moment wherever it is played. we here at murge decided to entice these charming deejays to put out this deep and groovesome tune with us. two remixes come courtesy of new kingpin on the block jordan peak, who takes things into a more stomping club arena, and the beautifully glictchy ambience of julien miers headphone friendly interpretation.

giallo disco journeys further east with the release of baskin. our first original soundtrack written by turkish composer volkan akaalp for the short film by enfant terrible can evranol (to my mother and father). baskin tells the story of four cops discovering a nightmare of lovecraftian proportions during a routine investigation. this incredible soundtrack is an eastern twist on the works of fabio frizzi, industrially corroded by early 90s r&s records. shot independently in istanbul, turkey, during the height of the gezi riots baskin has been described as disgusting. disorienting. brilliant by horror director eli roth. comes with a full colour sleeve and two exclusive remixes on the b-side by giallo disco heads vercetti technicolor and antoni maiovvi. things are about to get weird...

sometimes the right things just fall into the right place and so it happened with an old track by thomas p. heckmann under his drax disguise, named section 2. originally released as techno s first ever 7inch, it was very popular in 1993 and paved the way for the huge follow ups like drax three -phosphene and the hugely influential and successful drax ltd.ii - amphetamine.

for our second release on wavereform, we continue our explorations into sophisticated sounds from mostly-unexplored areas with the production debut from juras lietus, a 25 year-old latvian producer from riga whose mysterious origins in this out-of-the-way locale may surprise listeners, but whose sound fits very well into the label’s mission to reform the sound sphere with simple and elegant tracks that demand attention and bring unknown talent deserved notice. lietus wastes no time in showing off his developed dub techno style on >dark frank< as the bold, well-defined contours of the bottom end are contrasted with gentler ambient textures in the opening, it acquires more force as it moves along as he adds harder percussion patterns to the framework while the dense atmospherics progress barely in the background. >direct< is the more subtle and atmospheric of the pair, as crisp, delicate drums develop slowly while also suggesting melody. it too gains strength as it goes though, with ricocheting percussion and a barely-controlled feedback wail leading into a dramatic breakdown before he slowly winds things down in the detail-rich final section. j&#363,,,,,,,ras lietus and latvian techno may be mostly unknown, but this strong showing for wavereform 002 reveals much still to be uncovered in these eastern lands.

a less than prolific, but very highly regarded outlet comes into the all ears fold for their fourth outing this time around a friendly trio unites for the production work. mancunian chum haners puts some deep body and soul into things and grabs the spotlight on the a, and there aint no denying it is well deserved.

the shag edits hits volume 4 welcoming david glass, timmy p and twos tones to the roots for bloom roster. david brings a big hitter with tape deck with its mc sampled vocal, timmy s is drenched in sunshine for all the day parties this is sure to go off at and two s tones takes things on a jazz twist, with clever sampling but always that underlying groove that the roots for bloom label is known for. fans of the previous releases wont be dissapointed.

worx very cleverly tap up in-demand parisian dj and producer the mekanism for its first release here, squeezing out three of the artist s finest tracks to date. >bogoto< fuses a disco groove and 70s strings with some classic deep house piano, and creates a heavenly peak time roller, while >2 galactic< is pure 80s hip house fire, fusing cut-up vocals with a pounding late night groove. taking things down a notch, singing beasts goes deep and jazzy to close proceedings on whats another great addition to the producers discography, and a sterling first outing for worx.

after a lengthy break mark henning returns with his new label swing and four on-point tracks. *stash house* kicks things off with a crisply produced groove with snatched male vocals and rounded bass keeping the swing high. *exit acid* ups the energy levels with an acidic tinged b-line proving a grimier feel whilst flip sides *james hughes blues* is all about the breakdown, a neat synth line and huge bass tones lending it a more anthemic edge. lastly *the horror* opts for a lower key ride, fuller male vocal imbuing the track with a sleazier feeling.

leao is the house alter ego of respected tech producer robotneedsoil. here he supplies two killer house tracks that are given the remix treatment by two of the industries current favourites, kindimmer & jacob b. the ep lifts off with the original mix of drop that and wastes no time getting down to business. tough beats and throbbing bass meets cool stabs and vocal stabs urging you to -take your body back-. the jacob b remix of the same track is ruthless. taking no prisoners with a sub heavy mix that never veers from dance floor destruction. the b-side kicks off with leao s second original offering. this is house with heavy footwear. something more stomps, elbows and swings it s way through an intricately placed web of percussion. kindimmer s alien remix subtly uses elements of the original while at the same time segueing into new territory. its deep and eerie, soulful and moody. all the things that have made the berlin based greek one of the most sought after remixers in europe

following the first steps on his return to record production last year, greg wilson delivers the second release on his schooled in the classics imprint just in time for the arrival of the summer sunshine. while the first schooled release coupled 2 instrumental tracks, blue angel and 12-turn-13, weve taken things a whole stage further this time around, introducing vocals, courtesy of boss merseyside singers katherine & carmel reynolds, who are making their vinyl debut (and how!).

after a twisted, introduction full of warped vocals and shifting percussion, villain builds into a track designed to kill the rave. dropping into a wall of contorted, metallic bass and vicious drums, minor rain switches things up throughout, maintaining interest - as well as that infectious groove. on the flipside, main core shifts gears with a pulsing, submerged bass driving things forward. combining elements of tribal beats, programmed drums and a stuttering rhythm, main core is a great example of future funk musics ability to put out groundbreaking, forward-thinking music.

keeping in line with the trademark birdsmakingmachine sound, comes the fifth release on their self-entitled label, bmm 004. with a more straight-to-the-point approach than its predecessor, the ep starts off on the dance floor, with rumbling bass lines and heavy metallic snares juggling with effects-laden delicacies on the a1s >ahora vengo<. the arrival of >ash but not arthur< on the a2 calms things down bit and takes the listener for a gentle journey through ambient pads and cleverly swinging hi hats, while on the flip, things get a little more bouncy in >oscars critical jack<, which is mostly due to the fact its main ingredient – the solid playful bass line – blends effortlessly with the higher frequency spices, keys, strings and rhythmic parts. the end credits roll down with >bonfume<, another relatively smooth yet jacking swinger that could either be used to kick it up a notch in a warm-up set or be danced to while finding yourself at an afterhour.

fantastic reissue of paradises deep grooves seminal * i love ep* produced by nelson * paradise* roman. originally released back in 91, this is one of the true holy grails of deep house. kicking things off is the incredible deep hypnotic groove of * i love*, which became a nyc sound factory classic in the hands of junior vasquez as well as receiving heavy rotation on the underground house scene. the next two tracks * hypnotic flute* and * trance dance* are both excellent but the other really outstanding track is the deep floating * inner mind* with its lush haunting synths and intricate rhythms. top quality house music at its best!

there is a common thread that runs through all of brandt brauer fricks music. it is this: interesting things happen at the interface of machine and hand-made music. the berlin trios 2010 album, *you make me real*, fused techno and classical. the 2011 follow-up, *mr machine*, saw them go the whole classical-meets-club hog with a ten-piece ensemble playing dance music live. then, earlier this year, came *miami*, a darker, more song-based collection exploring the same man-machine ideas. the berlin trios instalment of the dj-kicks series does the same thing with a mix.

keno trax sets the focus on simple and functional club tracks but without taking things too seriously. they don t use a lot of melodies here. all that matters is the beat. and there is plenty of that on the release from the two romanian producers and djs called gruuv elements
