release no.4 for the mysterious dense & pika. >who cares wins< is another slice of grimey warehouse rawness, the kinetic drums and synths combing for a peak time cacophony of sound. flipsides >morse mode< ups the tempo whilst still keeping the duos signature rough vibe whilst >crackling< rounds things off nicely, more streamlined than the previous tracks with a touch of dub techno thrown in for good measure.

deep dubby techno on this new sound architecture. the label originally founded in rotterdam and currently operated from antwerp still going strong on a irregular base with tight modern techno and house releases. this one is maybe the first thats more or less rooted in the best dub techno traditions with a modern twist, remaining those nice swampy moist synths and seductive grooves. deadbeat and hreno come together to produce a dub techno tune of mcconaugheyan proportions.

entirely off the safe path, nonconformity and badass sounds are merging for snork #72 to send the ultimate sos for genuine techno. snork enterprises meets remute out in left field with three tracks not only to save our souls, also to save our sound of raw, underground techno. in a distorted space of sound, eclectic morse-codes come floating while persistent base lines keep the machines running. sirens sound and tortured steel is building up a sphere of vibrating noise spreading all over the hull and sustainedly screaming for sos. soaring beats forecast the last burst of strength. a freak wave of forceful sounds is rearing up. scared minds are facing the darkness of endless depth, still longing for the last beam of moonlight. yet, the all-embracing wall of infinity is merciless closing the entire surface. in an ambience of distortion, finally everlasting silence is drawing through the dark deepness devouring every vivid glance. from the distance down below there remains one inward echo - the ultimate sos.

for a brief moment turin was italys sheffield, producing an astonishing number of diy electronic groups. in the context of a wider europe, italy has never been thought of as a hotbed of minimal electronic music, but mannequin records compilations danza meccanica: italian synth wave 1982-1987 have shone a light on a scene little heard, even within italys borders. but the history was still incomplete ... some new horizons now must be unveiled, showing that between the years of 1982 and 1984, the city of turin in northwest italy was home to a quiet underground renaissance of experimental electronic music.

polluted system is a track suitable for the main room, the energy of the kick and the bass leave no respite from start to finish as a joint of metal percussion and synths fit gradually to fill the sound spectrum of this track. becomes human machine in a few minutes, using acid and industrial sounds, conveys the idea of the change that is happening around us: people are becoming more and more machines, and this is the soundtrack of the mutation. unlocked human, while remaining in acid and mechanical territories, thanks to a groove of more organic toms and hi hat still let the human element glimpse, not yet deleted by the machines, all accompanied by a relentless kick which makes it a perfect tool from the dancefloor . no system, which give the title to the ep, ends this sequence with dreamy and futuristic atmospheres, the ruling part is still a simple but instantly recognizable acid bass, over breakbeat-oriented rhythmics.

larry levans name is synonymous with contemporary dance music culture, his contributions are widely noted in many books and documentaries and in the memories of the lucky people who got to experience his phenomenal dj sets at the now legendary paradise garage in nyc throughout the late 70s until the late 80s. his name is still mentioned with reverence today and he is listed as an influence by countless djs and artists across the world.

it was the light. that was it. she was trying to remember what brought her to this desolate, godforsaken place. the way the moon and the stars made the shadows dance, it was magic. she slipped into a trance just thinking about it, forgetting at once the decay and the damned all around her. the shadows had fallen still long ago. then the darkness poured in. it had filled her. swallowed her whole. how long had it been now? she couldnt remember. the paper of her hands, the dust in her mouth, she barely noticed. far from any road there was a massive building with a lot of concrete rooms. inside it, a labyrinth path to bid farewell.

after many uk based producers, its time again for some homeboys. elvis is a young dj and producer from zurich/switzerland and his humney ep is his first full release to date.humney is that catchy house tune with a touch of the 90s house sound, with a great bass line, sexy vocals (from the lovely choklate) and solid beats. the up and coming palace (hot haus records) adds a rougher vibe with his remix, but its still humney. the way is taking a deeper direction and shows that elvis cassetta is definitely a name to watch out for!

nobody knows at the beginning of september, myr. is an artist who remains shrouded in mystery. his debut ep nobody knows avalon is set to be released through recognised cologne label pnn on january the 19st, yet as the title suggests, still very little is known about the man behind the music. myr.s wish to withhold information is made obvious through the choice of track names on the ep: nobody knows, avalon and homii are all titles clearly designed to provoke the listeners curiosity, whilst upholding a sense of the enigmatic.

the index expands into its fourth chapter with a rich collection of tracks from key label artists marcel fengler, thomas hessler, echoplex and vril. label co-ordinator marcel fengler drops scion on the a1, a non-typical, deeper house-influenced jam with a floating, mind-melting soft-focus. abstract, crafty techno meets classic sunday-afternoon vibes in this unique offering. after his wonderful 4-tracker on imf003 promising talent thomas hessler continues his run with the melodic and stark journey track, the escaper. what is initially shrouded in mystery and melancholy opens up into a funky, us vs. uk-styled workout, snapping snares and reduced percussion driving the meandering synth theme. echoplex, who graced imf002, also returns with a suitably trippy and percussive number, entitled the relapse. building into a bleepy, freaky, acidic killer, complete with some cleverly deployed rave vocal samples, filtering in and out of the fluffy aesthetic, the long-serving polish master is still on top form. going for impact and stand-out sound design, vril offers thronwagen, a mesmerising arrangement of synth layers, classic techno stabs and overlapping themes. already well-known for his powerful drums and bottom end control, this more musical piece goes a long way to showcase some of the german producers many other talents.

having launched with a various artists double pack last year, the untold series returns with a new release that retains this approach, as well the yellow and black vinyl colour scheme, -respectively representing the sun and the darkness-. entitled chapter 1, this double vinyl release features eight new artists whose productions still fall under the banner of spirituality that seems integral to the untold series. very much an international collection, south american furz commences proceedings with the latinised minimalist -420error- and from here chapter 1 runs the gamut of minimal techno with particular highlights coming from andrey zots and exercise in broken techno abstraction, pheek s playful -interne-, and the villalobos-esque -regarde le ciel- from suburbs. here s to further chapters please

the fat white family need no introduction and ez-ra & lamik are one half of decius… decius is a collaboration between acid house superstars paranoid london, ez-ra & lamik and lias saoudi the vocalist from the fat white family. their first release 3 months ago *come to me villa / gay futures* was described by ivan smagghe as *the best record of 2014* and is currently still at number 4 in the clone top 10. keeping it in the family, ez-ra & lamik have reworked two of their favourite fat white family tracks, it just seemed rude not to.

what $ love is one of romanthony s rarest songs. these original house mixes are one of his most sought after pieces of vinyl with pristine copies selling for upwards of £100. roman did make an r&b version on his glasgow underground album but the house mixes with their low slung dubby organ & bass grooves are the real dj deal with the westside highway mix still in many a list house djs bags.

chris “bam bam” westbrook is one of the unsung heroes of chicago house. his westbrook label was responsible for releasing a slew of quality records from artists like armando & mike dunn as well as his own productions. one record that mysteriously never officially came out on the label was “hot spot” from 1987, never making it past white label stage. here, for the very first time, “hot spot” finally gets a full release boasting all 4 alternate mixes of the track by the man himself. suggestive lyrics, chattering drum machine rhythms and uplifting pianos in the classic raw chicago style are what makes “hot spot” a special re-issue. harking back to a headier time, the record still slams hard today and shows contemporary producers how house music should really be done. a long lost, un-released nugget from the old school, re-mastered from the original dat and officially released for the first time with original westbrook label artwork in conjunction with bam bam / westbrook records, chicago usa.

released in 1979 queen samantha’s “take a chance” has gone down in disco history as an all time classic. produced by former aphrodite’s child bassist harris halkitis and featuring elongated naked “dj friendly” drum breaks and uplifting vocals and synths the record was sure to be a hit in discotheques on it’s initial release. the record was a huge success and has been sampled, edited and re-appropriated countless times, it even captured the ears and minds of the nascent hip hop movement that was brewing in new yorks bronx neighbourhoods a few years after it’s release with afrika bambaataa including it on his game changing “death mix” session with jazzy jay in 1983. both sides of the 12&#8243,,,,,, are bona-fide disco gold, pairing queen samantha’s soaring vocals with the stripped back, percussion heavy back drop of halkitis and his band. “take a chance” still sounds as fresh, epic and driving today as it did in ‘79 and still finds favour with forward thinking disco dj’s who include it in sets now. this is only one of many underground disco classics that the mighty miami based tk disco label brought to the world, officially re-mastered, re-pressed and re-issued in conjunction with joe stone / tk disco

the rugged, noirish soul of dave ajus third album black frames is still lingering in our minds months after it dropped, and as you well know by now we at circus company can never get enough of the san francisco mans honey-coated voice. as such, we once again reached out to dear friends and like-minded souls within the house and techno community to deliver three reinterpretations of the mans distinctive sound for a fresh dancefloor perspective.

the third release from wavefreform again comes to us from the east, and this time around it marks a reformation of sound for both the label and the artist. half of the long-running georgian duo greenbeam & leon, boyd schidt is a producer with over a decade of work already under his belt whose first releases emerged in 2007. as a solo artist, his career dates to 2010 with digital releases on georgia’s front rec, fvf records, and emote music, and a track on the new vinyl compilation from studio r°. with the hard, broken kick pattern, elevated tempo, and nods to electro, the a-side ‘phantom’, a collaboration with subex, is a change of pace for the artist and the hardest thing yet to emerge from wavereform. dubwise use of effects shows the same hands still at work, but the sound elements, granulated blasts of static and drop-based structure of the track hold strong parallels to the rejuvenated techno sound currently emerging from the uk. the b-side, ‘structure’, recalls the previous work of the artist: subtle, building dub techno rich in detail and with the dancefloor firmly in mind. there is clear experience at work here with his deliberate deployment and manipulation of elements as the track struts along while enveloping the listener in its smaller details. as it pauses and takes an extended breakdown, the details rush forwards, but it finds renewed force to power itself to the close. coming in this case from an established producer with a long history, this kind of control is not surprising, but it is more indication of the riches of the east that have yet to be discovered by audiences worldwide.

big with rolando, josh wink, sls, brendon moeller, psycatron (planet e)!delta funktionen presents the first part of two setup eps. after his debut ep electromagnetic radiation two years ago his reputation is still rapidly growing. setup one decorum is the follow-up to his cult hit silhouette and explores the darker side of things - three straight techno jack tracks, and one serene ambient track, evolving in an even more personal sound. setup two will be released in september.

in his first outing since 2011s now classic the orange place, test pressings paul byrne teams up with sades andrew hale for the light machine, a low slung, throbbing, acid led piece of gorgeousness that has been getting rave reviews from the balearic mafia all over. for esp paul teams up with yellos producer / engineer ian tregoning aka the stranger for another intoxicating piece that recalls the best moments of the art of noise if they were still making music in 2014. a remix from swiss dj and perennial man of the moment lexx rounds out the package perfectly. golf channel every time!

the ep is called spotlight diktat in reference to the feeling some djs have when they are on tour. a kind of dj melancholia generated by airplanes, dehumanized hotels, waiting hours in boring terminals, basically traveling alone. i made these tracks out of this mood. at first they sounds like the typical groovy dance tracks, but when the melody comes out, you immediately feel there is something wrong now the track is on and you still dance (of course its made for that) but you could almost cry to it too. so this is what happens when a dj or a producer has to do their job, but they aren t really in the mood for it. when the party comes, they just forget everything and make the show happen regardless. they have to bear the spotlight diktat and keep on entertaining people regardless of what they have in mind.

a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the release of etienne jaumet’s night music, dating from october 2009. his hypnotizing music and enchanting live performances put him directly on the map. it’s just him who is in control of his ship. he moves without complexes from his saxophone to his drum machine (his beloved tr 808) while turning knobs modulating synths, and sending his voice through an echo.la visite, etienne’s brand new album, more luminous and jazzy than its predecessor, has been composed and produced within a two month period in the versatile studio. it became a piece of introspection, mentally as well as physically. in the title track, for which flop wrote the text, we hear etienne travelling through the inside of a body, fantastic voyage style.it is always surprising to see a record taking shape. etienne would arrive at the studio without any precise idea in head, approaching his work rather intuitively. he works standing up, which brings a very different energy than being seated behind a computer polishing up every detail. he is in total mastery of his set-up, ready to capture that short-lived moment of true creation. the only use a computer has for him, is to record his experiments - afterwards being mixed by jerome caron (blackjoy).in between night music and la visite, etienne has not been lazy. not only has he done numerous collaborations (amongst others with joakim, richard pinhas, francois & the atlas mountain) and picked up djing, he has also recorded a new zombie zombie album (rituels d’un nouveau monde) with cosmic neman, as well as the soundtrack loubia hamra. and he worked with artist felicie d estienne d orves on the installation satori. at this very moment, etienne and his saxophone are still part of the tour of james holden.

busta rhymes delivered his debut album, the coming, in 1996 - three years after the leaders of the new school unofficially disbanded. though his talents were evident on those leaders of the new school releases, busta went on a series of features that only built up the publics desire for a solo busta album.

after a successful debut release with untitled gear, croatian label continues their journey through fields and forests. still exploring the russian federation, only this time they hired udacha s honcho and main protagonist a5. record kicks off with fantasy. a dreamy kalimba piece which eventually evolves into a deep house track and could be described as a soundtrack from your latest dream while raw abstractionism doesnt disappoint its name. on the flip side we are introduced to the afro banger torri wowo which feels almost like driving through safari on a truck. acoustic cut calms things down and brings us to an end with a clear message.

... adonis comically named -endless pokers- project is no joke, in fact, this is some serious chicago acid house! originally released in 1987 and featuring adonis trademark staccato drum machine rhythms, creeping acid lines and cowbells -the poke- is a classic (watch out for those vocal stabs too!). all 3 mixes featured on this 12- bring something new to the table, twisting and turning that acid line into a frenzied buzz. this is pure old school business, chicago style! raw, simple box jams of the highest order! a definite essential, a record like this in the right hands can produce some devastating effects and still sounds incredibly fresh today. re-mastered, re-pressed and brought to you in conjunction with dj international records.

from the sun kissed shores of brazil and the wonderful starlit nights of the mareh festival comes a new label, mareh music. mareh festival was started by a small group of friends whos only aim was to escape the big city, take an amazing sound system to a remote and beautiful part of the country, and then party together with friends and great music. it has grown since into a week long annual event featuring international djs playing alongside talented residents, and still has the same commitment to real quality and fun. mareh music is born from the soundtrack to those parties, and is launched to mark the festivals tenth birthday. so you can expect to hear beach bar boogie, disco-tinged dance floor movers and deep electronic groovers.

recorded one night almost 20 years ago after a bottle of whiskey, pet 2000 imagined a future of mutated, mechanical animals. the title was inspired by an actual pet shop in nottingham.

returning to his original home for this ep, it represents yet another left turn on the ukkonen musical path. the man himself says: *once again i want to change direction a little, whilst still keeping all the things i love in there - the polyrhythms, phasing loops, ambiguous timings and so on* however this set sees the tempo looser than before. we are not sure if post-techno actually ever happened, but maybe post-discotronica is, er, in the post. anyway, we liked the tracks so much that we once again went the extra mile with the physical product - a clear and white marbled thing of beauty, cut to 10 inch size in a 12 inch pressing.

after debuting on no.19 music in 2012 with his still excellent *so good ep*, mexa records boss and serious mexican house talent louie fresco is back on the label with a brand new release, arabian sexcapade. this single is the second off his forthcoming full length album, due for release on no.19 music in may and comes backed with not one but two remixes from house godfather dennis ferrer, plus one from highly respected duo frank & tony aka francis harris and anthony collins.

life, death, energy, love, hope, danger, agony, peace, if i stop today it was still worth it. even the terrible mistakes, that i have made and would have unmade if i could, or that maybe i would just redo the same. the pains and thoughts that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it for having been allowed to walk where i ve walked. which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, above and beyond it… i won t regret!
