opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

wrapping up a short summer break, speicher returns with a powerful double bill from rising duo hunter/game. its the italian producers second contribution to the series, after having amassed quite a few nods with sneaky club anthems hexagon and bermuda (kompakt extra 83). this was followed by their strong rework of wevals gimme some a much acclaimed highlight of our total 15 compilation (kompakt 340 cd 125). the new material sees them digging even deeper into the hardware circuits while cranking up the momentum a notch or two: opening banger adaptation doesnt feel the need to ease you into the experience, dropping you right in the middle of its frenzied staccato synth throb instead. meanwhile, the path opts for rich, saturated colors and epic melodies, slowly building its case until its ready to blow its lid. these are two extraordinary techno tunes that will command your attention and leave no floor unturned an essential release for both the label and the artists.

shlomi abers new 12inch slides perfectly into the nonplus catalogue with two slabs of straight up no nonsense techno. with well over 15 years of production history and 20 years of djing across the globe he knows exactly what it takes to move a dance floor. israel born and raised but heavily influenced by the old detroit techno movement shlomi managed to balance his roots into the modern wave of the current techno peers. working from an aladdin s cave of analogue gear he crafts a raw and groove laden sound often attempted but rarely achieved by others. takeover and street works are two tracks demonstrating hes a producer whos mastered his craft and is at the top of his game right now.

finally, leftback s own dudley strangeways rounds off the ep is his usual style, which cannot be described as anything less than true quality. as ever, black key have excelled in delivering a package which ticks all the right boxes, this is a release which will undoubtedly appeal to a diverse range of house music fans who appreciate a rather large nod to the underground. vinyl only.

for 07 ruff draft enlists twins who turns in a dark, dystopian, club sound scape that hits all the right spots. hayworth is another alias of a well known producer to us ruff drafters, here he creates a track with an intro that teases and teases you before the beat drops and things get all sweaty. cottam digs out some acid from the hard drive, an old forgotten about track that finally gets a release.
