coling strange lands on lies.. going to hit hard, this one..tip! collin strange has a long and storied history in the new york city underground music scene of the nineties. from owning a record shop in the east village, to working at distributers, to playing in bands of all sorts, to producing music alone, strange was around at one of the most vibrant (and transitional) times in the l.e.s., just on the cusp of guliani s culture crackdown which choked the life out of the city, forcing many to leave. currently located in seattle, strange has picked up where he left off years ago plugging in the gear and churning out blistering acid cuts with a very d.i.y. edge that brings to mind drop bass network, unit moebius, or free party french acid of old. coming full circle these tracks are completely at home on l.i.e.s. and will undoubtedly thrash any soundsystem in sight. play at maximum volume for total disruption
following critically acclaimed releases from eduardo de la calle, refracted, and monomood, connwax returns with another exceptional offering of bold and original techno. for this release, they have enlisted the help of a rising young talent in berlins underground scene: akme. the producer and resident dj of renowned club, about blank demonstrates his uncommon technical precision and emotional depth with this debut ep, drawing on his vast array of influences and experiences across all genres. in elements, the bass drum takes centre stage. the engine room relentlessly driving everything forward. yet as the track develops, a fine lattice work of detail starts to unfold. meticulous percussive elements imbue the piece with an enigmatic depth as a sombre melody sweeps through the rough rhythmic landscape. we are allowed a brief moment to reflect before the bass drum continues its inexorable path forward. akme takes a more reduced approach in black matter space is left for the interplay between the understated acid bassline and delicate hi-hats to lock the track into a hypnotic groove. here, the statement is defined by what is left unsaid. for the final track concealing, ak
if you‘re familiar with cvbox‘ music you know that he isn’t the guy for your average techno track. formalistic song structures aren’t his thing. when you’ll start to listen to a new cvbox track you’ll don’t know how it will end. his music derives from his deep love for analogue gear and a pretty unique way to deal with it.
on his first album “so ist es im nadelwald” cvbox rides between the corner points of techno, electro and ambient. the music is infused by an omnipresent darkness that isn’t just there as an end in itself but will definitely give the thrills to listener and dancers.

another stone cold ny club jam from the archives of the legendary sam records label. feel alright does exactly as the title suggests! pure early 80s electronic disco joy for packed, sweaty dance-floors. not much is known about komiko, an undercover studio outfit that featured guest vocals from carol williams, tracey weber & vicky d and was produced by the criminally underrated darryl payne (who manned the boards for sinnamon, sharon redd, carol williams, nv & many more) but it s okay, as this - their sole release, more than makes up for it! a true boogie classic indeed feel alright was a huge club record that got spin from the garage to the streets of london. if you re into that sparse, electronic and funky early 80 s boogie / electro disco sound then you wont be disappointed with this one. a guaranteed floor-filler of the highest calibre! reissued in conjunction with sam records, new york city. fully remastered with all original 1981 label artwork intact. file under - essential disco
brooklyn nyc - 1990. former berklee college of music student ed -the red- goltsman has already been locked away in the studio for the previous 5 years producing and playing on numerous underground soul and hip hop records. his deep love of music and his involvement with these projects eventually led to him setting up his own venture. inspired by encounters with nycs dance music underground these sounds and experiences helped shaped his idea and sound into what would become one of the most popular, cult dance music labels that emerged from the city during those fertile years - bottom line records.

this is electronic programme music, bookended in distinctive tadeo style with a modal string section that places the record firmly in the avant-garde, the pit guides us through the moods and associations of a classic science fiction narrative.
uk artist kris davis’ “bleak” ep is out on christian löffler’s dance label, young alaska. löffler aims to make music that “combines melancholy with euphoria”, and it seems evident this vision is reflected in his own imprint with davis’ forthcoming release.

adam port and jimpster have had a special kind of ‘virtual’ relationship the last few years with a mutual respect for each others productions and output of their respective labels. keinemusik, which adam runs alongside rampa, &me and reznik, has grown into one of the most consistent and hottest out there right now with every release creating a big splash and bringing magic to so many dancefloors around the world. adam recently remixed jimpster’s eel pie island to devastating effect bringing his own deep, late night atmospherics to the original and creating one of 2016’s underground hits in the process. so now we’re very pleased to welcome adam port (alongside legendary uk artists stereo mc’s) for a full release on freerange in the form of changes. opening the release we have adam’s own remix which sets the tone with a subtle and gently building groove providing the perfect backdrop for the stereo mc’s esoteric vocal. this lesson in restraint shows why adam’s productions work so well on big systems, letting all the focus shine firmly on the vocal creating an intense atmosphere with not a single huge breakdown in sight! next up we have the original of changes which takes a more electro approach with a simple bassline and crisp hats and once again allowing the vocal space to take centre stage for a deep and memorable track with a message. finally we have a remix from our own jimpster opts to push in a completely different direction. shuffling up the groove and laying down a repeating rhodes riff we’re treated to an altogether more soulful and less stark version making the perfect compliment to the the package. this one makes us think of his remix of osunlade’s momma’s groove which is no bad thing we feel! enjoy!
3-disc deluxe anniversary edition of bad vibes! includes the original 2xlp plus additional 12 inch of new material (rarities + extras), bound together in a custom bad vibes o-card.
a dub house dream come true: that s the quick summary of thomas wood s new ep for swiss label waehlscheibe. being a longtime friend of the label thomas wood from zürich delivers four super creamy and understated tracks for waehlscheibe which are just perfect for the imprint s focus on deep and chord driven dub. on his rooted in the past ep thomas displays not only a wonderful understanding of harmony and melodic elaborations, but at the same time combines this sophisticated musical approach with a great sense of complex rhythmic funk. this results in four irresistible dub house grooves which nicely link a compelling dancefoor experience with home-listening pleasure rich in details and variety. as always the quality mastering of above smoke at the hole of dub studios rounds of the musical attraction of this vinyl only release just right.
here it is, the 12th disc on hotline recordings, ringing off two wicked & wild dancefloor abstractions from none other than gantz.
tut-tut situation has been doing the rounds on dubplate for some time now, with the bandulu massive, commodo, etch and the likes giving this one big support from day one – we’ve seen dancefloors bruk out like a bunch of confused nutters to this one… it’s a certified soundsystem banger for wrong’uns.
on the flip, gantz comes with a new direction of style, dipping into the acid-drenched rave sound of the 90’s with his own set of information. rugged, distorted rhythms grind up against an infectious melody and love’d up vocals, once again, this is proper party gear for all twisted minds (and legs even).
italian roberto clementi has really struck a chord in the hearts of northerners, with releases on scottish soma, danish echocord colour and swedish kontra-musik. perhaps it’s his ability to create evolving and often emotional melodic landscapes over raw, punchy beats that’s especially appreciated north of the wall. this is very much true for true rotary recordings, in any case, bringing roberto clementi in for the label’s second release. ‘to balance a tide’ is perfectly set in the true rotary recordings universe, combining analogue warmth with genuine musicality. there’s no question roberto clementi has soul and has willingly poured some of it into this release, the music has a considerable thickness to it that’s very pleasing to the ear, yet it’s still exceptionally artful. clementi’s soul seems to be an ancient one, given the timelessness of his tracks – old svek releases come to mind but with an added futuristic twist. this is music for dancing and music for dreaming, all in one package. true rotary recordings is run by joel alter and ena cosovic. stemming from a longstanding mutual appreciation for the combination raw techno with more seductive sounds, the label is a natural development of joel’s and ena’s musical and personal partnership. true rotary recordings represents their mutual musical vision and vibe that they love. keeping it raw and genuine.
the almost ungoogleable producer, dj and record shop owner takes over the dance floor with three intoxicating, raw cuts with a blurry reminiscence to disco that falls somewhere between house and techno.
the latest offering from us-based imprint secret studio records will arrive courtesy of circling vultures, a project fronted by chicago natives justin long (hugo ball), and ken zawacki (dar embarks). circling vultures’ sound is rooted in the hedonistic midwestern rave scene of the ’90s, formed over a long history traversing the hedonistic spaces of that time—it’s a hardware-driven sound with a diy punk ethos.
were back on ltd 10s with volume 5 by the man himself dicky trisco. if you know the name - you definitely know the game. full on feel-good disco house beaters!
bienvenue s3a = sampling as an art! with great pleasure we welcome this versatile french producer, who has been making waves with splendid releases on labels like local talk, 4lux, phonogramme, hold youth or his own s3a records. well crafted proper house music, garage, disco touched, funky - he can do it all! hes sampling as an art! merci monsieur!
jacy inaugurates the mysterious kalahari oyster cult with somewhere in the tapes . this audio artefact rumbles with bright and clean sounds. the influence of chicago and detroit is clear from the outset, rooted in the smooth and cerebral grooves of parallel trip . piano keys ebb and flow in the late night movements of dancing about bebu . those keys take centre stage for the house scented sounds of piano reprise . jacy comes full circle with the cruel and cold it s not hot but hit (disney rave mix) , a track of sinister synth stabs and spiralling samples. the cult s first vinyl pearl.

elliott thomas, aka etbonz, portlands prodigal son, touches down for the first time on loveon the rocks with my kinda future. etbonz, the lovechild of buckaroo banzai and thetalented ellen ripley, utilises the latest krystalvision technology over this eleven and a half minute opus to bring you to the edge of a future where maybe, just maybe, arnold didnt kill the predator.. where some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favourite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if you paid your dues. where you cant even get to the chopper, because kurt russell is in the cockpit with a head full of acid, wearing a hat made of drum machines. should we check it out? or just check into a psycho ward? whichever comes first, huh? its a kinda future that leaves you asking yourself, if i am not me, then who the hell am i? am i prins thomas? what is a diskomiks? you ever fuck a mutant? tall guy, weird clothes. first you see him, then you dont. the best mindfuck ever!
bratha is the name of the berlin based collaboration of matt nowak aka no mad ronin and the analogue cops aka lucretio and marieu. their releases on their own label bratha, on voitax and on restoration have quickly sold out without any mainstream promotion. topless dancers is their debut e.p. on matt nowaks imprint zaijenroots. as usual, this vinyl only release recorded at the restoration headquarters and mastered at dubplates & mastering, combines refined samples and quotes with extremely solid, pumpin beats and fat basslines. the grooves move smoothly from the metronomic dance attitude with a romanian touch topless dancers of the title track, to the wobbling estate, undergoing to the suspended, melancholic fluctuations of space boogie and the slow discoidish no mad ronins death. this pumping ep for sure fills every dancefloor with a deep and smooth vibe of real underground dancemusic made in berlin.

continuing where subspace transmission 1 left off casionova brings another triple-tracker 12? of synth jams and dancefloor grooves ranging from the merciless bass-driven mecha-disco assault of droids night out to the epic, booming and deep bass box-jam magic touch and with the galloping, mystical and hypnotic necromancer s spell sandwiched in between - for those who like their electro-disco raw and relentless.
2016 has been a very fruitful year for krill music. the habitat series places focus on shedding light on budding new talents and seasoned veterans alike through solitary tracks. the year kicked off with an ep from those that fall into the latter category - those of whom need little introduction, in stanislav tolkachev, i/y, +platfform and stefan vincent. throughout the course of the year, we then saw the likes of matrixxman, ilario alicante and mental resonance contribute to the now infamous concatenation.
with previous releases on labels such as chronocircle and tom trago’s voyage direct, magnesii delivers a playful blend of house, electro and tropicana for raw tools. the title track, fata oasa is a melodic, lo-fi delight, full of exotic flavours, whilst building ultrabot shifts to a different spectrum of sounds, with chunky basslines and heart-warming pads. on the flip side, euphoric 660, is a haunting house jam with low-pitched vocal samples and sharp percussions. the b-side gets a special 909-led muscle boost by antenna, known for his dark, but emotional sound, which has been embraced by labels such as pinkman, clone and beats in space.
mister ekkohaus brings his groove to tabla. after his remix work for tabla 002 the berlin based greek producer returns to tabla with two raw and strong tunes somewhere in between dub techno and stripped down house. early dub label honcho loquace from paris completes this vinyl package with an extraordinary tech house remix.

the second release on our recently launched label comes from no other than our unique ricardo villalobos, under his germanized moniker richard wolfsdorf. besides being a world touring dj and headlining the best clubs and festivals around the planet, he has been a reference producer for everyone interested in forward thinking dance music over the last one and a half decades. at mdrnty we all love his music, dj sets and personality and he has been a key player at our events for many years, so it is with great honour that we welcome him on our new label. faithful to his style, he offers us an over 20 minutes length song divided in two sides. featuring canadian singer beaver sheppard, fiva is a mind bending minimalistic trip. beavers mumbling voices add the perfect balance to ricardos abstraction and hypnotism. once more ricardo shows us how much can be said with only a few elements and how deep it is possible to dive and wonder into his sparse music landscape.
still riding high off the recent release of culoe de songs watergate mix we keep it coming with four exclusive tracks from culoe himself on our first ep of exclusives from the compilation. deadmans walk kicks things off with lush percussive grooves and luminous shades of euphoria resulting in a serene foray into enchanted destinations while the self titled ‘aftermath’ follows with a much more deliberate intent utilizing rich, rising harmonies and bold, rugged drums culminating in a massive sonic event. flipping to the b-side we see culoe dive into an energetic and unique space with ‘bang royales’ creating undeniably engaging rhythms with vocal chants and off kilter rhythms. rounding out the ep is juice and with its heavenly sounds of angelic vocals and soaring progressions is the perfect display of de songs signature sound and approach. were happy to present to you culoe de songs aftermath ep and think you will enjoy the trip into the mind of a truly unique artist.
EYE CAN SEE THE DARKNESS (IN THE END OF THE TUNNEL)
12 Inch 23.01.17
eye can see the darkness (in the end of the tunnel) is a shot of light in the dark cavern of a broken heart. blinded by the lights rips apart the heart-string orchestra rather than just pulling on the strings. a love ballad lost in the haze of the mid-summer, faded to blue and repackaged as a gentle and tender winter anthem. sharing the a-side with the lucid dreaming of jeremiah r on the drum-heavy remix.
on the flip, i am not him is a filter-squelching, bass-slapping meander into green haze territory, that finally erupts into a swagger of familiar detroit-channeled drums and steady faded pads. outernet grumbles up the black-hole cosmic radiation with an industrial-tinged number that plunges the depths of deep-space. proper growling and clanging synths to add the right amount of raw, just at the end.
são paulo born producer l_cio, is already an established name in the brazilian underground electronic scene. having previously released on d.o.c. and kompakt records, he delivers a 3 track ep full of energy and dance floor ready cuts.
the a side kicks off with “lua”, where unresting hi hats harmonically blend with a powerful kick and lush pads. a2 is the vocal vox version of “lua” featuring the amazing laura diaz, co-founder of the mamba negra collective in são paulo, brazil. on the flip side we find the track “percussive city”, a throbbing percussive number that is primed and ready to set dance floors on fire.
the electronic based pop group, shari vari, founded by helena ratka and sophia kennedy, is about to release its first ep, life should be a holiday, of 5 pieces produced and recorded by the duo under broke and alcoholic circumstances. each piece deals with the traditional forms of song writing by ignoring them – the rules and structures. combining psychedelic lyrics and chords with dark electronic sounds, the beats are weird and stubborn: a teenage crush on a white cat while drowning in a pool. you’ll never want to go to work again: too many psychos in one streetcar are just too hard to handle on an empty stomach. look forward to plunge into the world of shari vari, so hit the booze and run! (to the concert)
on its third vinyl release dalmata daniel presents five originals of j.mono with an additional remix made by dj overdose. hailing from east-central hungary s small town lajosmizse, lori keresztes is the introverted songcrafter-synthjammer mastermind of the budapest based underground favourite wedding acid group trio.
johannes dropping 4 brand new house cuts. a side with smooth disco house fantasies, imagine just a slightly cheaper version of a soundstream record. “town” on the flip side comes more like well …. think of tiga releasing on playhouse anno 2004 and you get there. maybe not. oh yes jay ain’t no singer but hey… dj bonus tool attached to make up for it.
new label hailing from tbilisi with the first release coming from a prolific melancholic italian producer giorgio luceri under his 6d22 moniker with a mysterious acidic approach. enjoy!
repress 2017, jlm and chris wang started the party love dancing in 2009 in vancouver, bc, canada. love dancing, along with jesse proudfoot and chris allen’s good faith, was a formative dance experience for many of us in vancouver and an essential ingredient in the mood hut stew. the music on this disc dates from that period and captures some of the energy of the love dancing parties. we hope you enjoy it.
