hedonism is an ethical theory that pleasure, in a sense of satisfaction of desires, is the highest good and proper aim of human life, and this seems to also be hdnsm’s ultimate musical objective. their first release debuted as a kickstarter of “variant ep” v.a. series, showcasing three very different yet highly contemplative creations from cumsecade, anestie gomez and man spider. hdnsm flips the coin and for the second episode of “variant” series it lands on two very solid, incredibly moody and extensive works from fresh talents shcaa and cleymoore. the ep features two very different tracks yet they share the same minimalistic core. both works are blessed with intricate micro-drum arrangements for those feeling groove hungry whilst still standing tall in the experimental abstract realm pleasing those who crave unusual frequencies. a-side’s “masquée” is one of shcaa’s typical rides between sound and silence and it is hard to find another artist who understands sound gaps between grooves better than shcaa does. with his signature vocals and an incredibly delicious duality between acoustic instrumentalism and electronic slamming, this is a groovy, highly deep, very intelligently arranged piece. the flip-side “nebula”, signed by pluie/noir’s boss cleymoore, is a tip of an iceberg when it comes to the art of stripping down. in an apparently thin canvas of minimal drum arrangements there’s a vast amount of sound frequencies underneath a steady ever-kicking groove, tricking your mind into thinking that you’re hearing less than you actually perceive. nebula is hypnotic and dense but focused and sophisticatedly groovy. like the repetitive vocals you’ll hear throughout the b-side, this v.a. sticks to your mind like an addiction of some sort and pushes hdnsm to a new standard of avant-garde and forward-thinking attitude. as before, this vinyl only release comes in a gorgeous cover featuring a painting from max binski and the number of copies available is limited

from a basement studio in hackney, east london comes payfone s 2nd release on golf channel - quarantine b/w padre, pray for us. following on from 2014 s extremely well received paradise heater, payfone continue down a similar path for the a side quarantine. featuring once again 24 year old vocal powerhouse louis howard jones, quarantine is a semi auto biographical take on the hardships of a an underprivileged youth, set against a tough phil passera production that sounds more new york city 1984 than new port county 2004 (jones was born and raised in cardiff). cruising at 120 bpm, the dark funk guitar intro gives way to some heavy slap bass and deep synth that touches michael jackson s thriller before the direct and brutal vocals of jones hit you right between the eyes. padre, pray for us is a bizarre afro-cuban inspired homage to passera s italian father sergio ( who s telephone call can be heard on the songs intro). featuring the lethal trumpet of former cuban military private eikel venegas hernandez, this instrumental takes you to the pinata party via downtown lagos. golf channel every time !

deep dark industrial ambient. a slowly evolving soundscape with boiling buzzing sounds, resonating through the dark world.the berserk was perhaps one of the world s best fighters, which in old norse time sworn allegiance to the norse god odin. before a battle berserkers excited each other up and occurred in bearskin or wolf skin, hence the word berserk. in the beginning of the battle they performed exceptionally talented, indifferent battlers, but in close combat they fell into berserk. then they howled like wild beasts, probably to frighten the enemy and incite their comrades and themselves, and then get into rages. a berserk in battle were said not to bother about any injuries, and was therefore until the enemy, or they died.

uk funk connoisseur duke slammer takes the driving seat on the 303-fueled ‘bangkok skytrain’, with remixes from moscow based simple symmetry and returning artist tony g. inspired by tropical heat, bangkok skytrain utilises 303s, analogue drum machines and mixes in field recordings taken from an excursion to thailand. the result is a heady concoction of warm basslines and humid atmospheres, with a groove reminiscent of early 90’s melodic techno and a cheeky drum track that wouldn’t be out of place on a larry heard record. simple symmetry, the lipski brothers from moscow, slowly rebuild layers of the track like a locomotive building up momentum, and in typical style simple symmetry style finding the perfect vocal sample and pan pipes that help propels you into the foreign lands. before you know it the track is pumping at full chug! tony g’s take goes a bit further afield than the original. a dub rhythm sets the picture in outer-space. hihats stutters like cosmic dust rickashading off the nosecone of the space ship while longing strings take us deep into a distant nebular before the 303 bring the thousands of new galaxies into view. definitely music to listen to in the dark! look out for the secret dancefloor weapon ‘just drums’, an industrial drum machine workout for the freaks!

copehagen s music for dreams are very proud to present new swedish signing 55 cancri e (aka sara hausenkamp). born in 1989 in malmö, this talented musician/artist started out learning classical guitar as a child before playing keyboard in different bands in her teenage years/early 20s. in 2013 she moved to berlin and began playing keyboard/guitar/singing in electro duo ‘naftik’. as well as music, she also expresses herself through illustrations, collages, photos, writing, painting, fanzine-making etc. and studied at the school of comic art in malmö.‘55 cancri e’ is hausenkamp s solo project started in the summer of 2014, an amazing six track mini album of perfect night music from outer space, tunes covered in diamonds - a melting pot of sensitive guitars, crying synthesizers, barking flutes, mellow wine glasses, combined with gorgeous organ/melodica and haunting voices. the end result is a beautiful, melancholic and stunning debut drawing comparisons to artists such as this mortal coil and cocteau twins... limited vinyl with stunning original sleeve by the artist - definitely worth investigating.

the a&r edits return with a double-header from hot digits head honcho fingerman. the brighton producer grew up listening to his parents enviable steely dan record collection and for his comeback outing on a&r has retouched the de la soul-sampled classic, peg. a tight circle of djs have road tested this rework over recent times and we ve been inundated with requests for its release. in 1970, new york session drummer bill curtis merged the fatback jazz beat of new orleans into a street funk band and signed his outfit to perception records. over the next decade, they incorporated jazz and disco into their signature funk style, before moving in an r&b direction in the 80s. during this period, american pop success proved elusive, but the group made regular appearances in the uk singles chart, hitting the top twenty three times with (are you ready) do the bus stop , (do the) spanish hustle and i found lovin it s the latter, an anthem on the uk black music scene in 1984, that has been served up here by fingerman, a staple at his casablanca jazz club residency in brighton and now available on wax for the first time.

uk techno founders b12 return! the duos history famously started in the early 90s with their music appearing under a plethora of monikers under the b12 records umbrella - 12 inch vinyl with notorious cryptic messages engraved in the run-out grooves, before being collected into album form and release on warp. after a hiatus in the late 90s, the pair resurfaced briefly for some live shows, a flurry of hugely sought-after 12 inches and a 7-part cd anthology. they then abruptly disappeared again - this is their first appearance in 5 years, fittingly on glaswegian imprint soma. geneve based pascal viscardi bring his rich and sweltering textures to saft with his first ep for the spanish label. the swiss producers paradiso ep is already the 9th installment and by no means an odd addition to the family. strongly rooted in soulful sounds with firm aesthetics and blissful melodies, this release is exactly what saft is all about. from the moment the pad in the title track starts riding, paradiso immediately hints to a deserted paradise.
tales from the emax (a2) is a groove laden anthem that will soothe those that are into soulful but firm sounds. on the b side, we find remix work of both originals. swiss house stalwart agnes stirs things up with his thriving rework of paradiso called la charme chambertin mixx. on the b2 cut we find saft familiar jefferson belmondo with a cracking rework of the title track *paradiso* called beach mix. 4 strong, groove-laden cuts that celebrate the saft sound like never before.
the a-side, spiral 7, is a pensive, evolving slow motion deep techno voyage across rolling waves of exhausted dancers while on the flip side spiral 4 dives beneath the surface with broken submarine bleeps and acoustic depth charges before spiral 3 finally drops anchor into a bottomless ocean of downbeat pulses. debut release from the melbourne, australia musician.

metereze keeps a steady path of releases and this time around it is young star vincent iulian who picks up the ball and delivers four astounding tracks on his four quarters ep. also a native of bacau like dubtil and raresh among others vincent has already released on labels like naural or moment.
started is probably the grooviest of them all and for sure youve heard it before if you’ve been attending the right parties. breaking the boundries between techno and house this is a true masterpiece. on the same side he also shows a more relaxed atmosphere filled with jazzy percussions and easy synths. stors kinda makes you stop and dream for a while.
first on side b we have another dancefloor monster. no more is is driven by a hypnotic synth and infused with enough drums to keep you on the move for the whole 7 minutes. le van a cantar keeps the catchy driving mood but this time iulian explores a more broken path. bubbly voices, snares and a haunted synth emerging now and then make this corner as interesting as the rest.
four quarters is a must have for any serious collector. not to mention if you are a dj.

huge package from west end of exclusive or never before released versions of one of the highlights from their illustrious catalogue.... arthur russell s loose joints... is it all over my face? kon (king of nothing!) sourced the original stems to completely re make the track utilising both the female and male vocal parts in his outstanding -duet- mix. also included in the barnstorming 13 minute original version that s never seen the light of day... its significantly and dare we say on par with the original version! finally included is the rare as hens teeth original female vocal 3:10 7- version that was only ever released as a promo at the time. huge release that s set to cause ever lasting ripples in the disco music community!

in november 2013, a mysterious 12 inch hit stores in very limited supply, and became a cult classic amongst those lucky enough to pick one up
despite its winter release, international smark endured through to last summer and became an underground anthem in the beach bars and under the stars. discogs prices rose accordingly and its still very much at the top of many wants lists
* international smark* (translation: international taste) opens with an 8bit techno tinged waltz before quickly floating into dreamy synth chords and staccato guitar licks.
featuring an infectious cross dialect narrative (swedish/finish) provided by international songstress tigerlight, the track comes across like a meeting between metro area and abba - two acts payfone cite as big inspirations.
* people* on the flip explores an electro-disco aesthetic bouncing along into the night with a heavily pitch affected vocal and angular bassline that drives an incessant groove

ive been over and over track running orders, while taking into account the limitations of vinyl. it needs to be a loud cut as anything increasing the chances of this music being played in clubs is a priority. the major development is, i d really like the a side at 45rpm, as before. as well as the extra volume, granular psychosis is an exciting prospect to be able to play at both speeds as its so fast. with this track list below, we re exceeding the time slightly for what i ve been advised is the best 45rpm quality. however, as zattrday has such a limited frequency range, that can be cut to take a very small part of the vinyl. i will talk to, about all this, and ultimately go with his advice of the best way to do this on the day. but i can say it will almost definitely happen like one of the two options below
