parisian dj and producer kiddy smile embodies the lifeblood of house music past and present. his music flashes with nostalgia for those mid-80s new york basements where house music first came alive. ‘teardrops in the box’ pulses with the intoxicating energy of a ball in kiddy’s native paris, with its deep-rooted traditions but its intensely forward-focussing culture. following up on his fearsome debut ‘let a b!tch know’ on defected, kiddy smile has deployed the well-established remixing capabilities of mystic bill, a house champion from the underground schools of detroit and chicago. his ‘jersey dub’ eases back on the tempo for a syncopated strut to the garden state, while the ‘vocal mix’ is a bulkier prospect, emphasising kiddy’s growling vocal with some serious attitude bass. finally, his vinyl-exclusive ‘acid mix’ is specifically designed for getting twisted on dark, underground floors. cowbell and raw synths give ‘teardrops in the box’ unadulterated dancefloor credentials but this is more than a club record, the layers to this track run deep.

wild is the most complete musical work by nuage up to date. following a thought-out plan from beginning to finish, with a real introduction, development, and conclusion, the album is influenced foremost by the sun, sea and tropics. the music slowly evolves from warm and uplifting songs towards colder and more mysterious realms. . taking a full year to finish the album, including the entire change of season from summer to winter, memories of trips to mexico, the mountains, and the seaside fade away and are replaced by days at home and in the studio in cold st. petersburg. at the same time the music itself goes through a very personal development from outgoing moments to parts of personal reflection. without adding too much weight or philosophy to the music, the album is an easy and natural listening experience that explores contrasting and at times contradicting themes between summer and winter, cold and warm, introverted and extroverted and many layers in between, while also harmonizing the musical past, present and future of nuage.

the fifth record on new york trax is by løt.te, the turkish-born, brooklyn-based dj, producer and designer affiliated with the bunker new york by virtue of two well-received vinyl releases. this politically charged ep titled ‘state of exception’ is løt.te’s personal reflection on the current social and political climate in turkey. with rhythmic synths brought to the foreground, løt.te committed a masterpiece that only a skilled and thoughtful artist like himself can. the opening ‘ultra vires’ is a relentless synth-driven warehouse track mercilessly rolling at the speed of 140bpm. the deeper ausnahmezustand follows, it is a reflective and rhythmical piece perfect for both home listening and the dance floor. 15.07.2016 opens the b side with its tense yet playful atmosphere and numerous constantly evolving layers of sound. finally, graft is a shockingly intense introspective piece. crafted with japanese taiko drums and digital synthesizers pushed to their limits, it is a lesson in perfect sound design

the fifth ep on firescope records, the new sub label of the legendary b12 records, welcomes mr john shima. established in sheffield in the early 90’s with a multitude of releases, john has appeared on ferox, boe recordings, common dreams, diametric, and subwax to name but a few ! the ep entitled elements unknown, is pure techno for laying back in a dark room and floating away, highly detailed layers of electronic sounds interweaved together to create emotion rarely found in electronic music. drawing inspiration from uk pioneers such as b12, stasis, lfo, black dog but delivering it in a modern way, john has managed to carve out his own unique sound while staying true to his roots. this is uncorrupted uk techno in its purest form.

subonation of perjury is the latest in the series of heart wreching techno releases from dubiosity for planet rhythm. like always, this release is heavily concentrated on touching synths and growing melodies that might leave the listener in a euphoric gaze. it’s dubiosity’s signature to combine dark and intense techno rhythms with layers of melodic goodness. throughout the whole ep this style is present. elysian fields is the darkest cut of them all but also here a vivid choir comes through to mellow things down. pjotr g and dubiosity join forces for a remix of remy kruyer’s ho chi minh on the b2.

pascal viscardi first emerged onto the scene with a string of releases on traxx underground, followed by an acclaimed release on love notes from brooklyn. the swiss producer has a trademark sound, club friendly cuts with layers of depth and warmth. the four track ep features moody, intricate sequences with a notable jazz influence throughout. housed in full sleeve artwork with inner disco bag.

panorama bar regular bwana unites his dual loves of vintage 90s electro and classic progressive trance on this three track ep for duskys 17 steps label. achieving widespread critical acclaim with last years techno homage to the akira soundtrack - capsules pride - on luckyme, bwana has since released eps on his club ready home aus and fort romeaus cin cin, as well as appearing on 17 steps with a cult remix of duskys ingrid is a hybri - itself something of a panorama bar favourite. on this ep, the illustrious producer presents three contrasting but cohesive tracks in the dark acidic three way is the hard way, hypnotic dark trance builder hell is other robots and classic electro homage on patrol for their control. completing the package, the inimitable avalon emerson bends three way is the hard way’ into a glitchy, percussive groover that builds crunchy layers of dark drums around the original’s twisted sonics.

spatial cues is a series of split singles sounding out main(void)’s and kon janson’s shared musical space. operating out of berlin and london, the two artists join forces to showcase their mutual vision of techno music. cues001 starts off the series with two immersive yet driving tracks, both built upon breathing and soughing atmospheres that wrap themselves around clear-cut, straightforward rhythms. guided by bleepy accents, cues001 a takes you on a stormy 10 minute ride through subtly shifting layers of sound, revealing its hidden depths in two slowly climaxing breaks. steadily evolving towards its floating finale, cues001 b contrasts a mesmerising percussion pattern with a steaming machine sound that loses itself in endless feedback cascades.

in its five years dgtl has carved its style and sound worldwide as one of amsterdams staple dance music institutions. this year the organisation is deepening its focus and vision. therefore dgtl is launching its own imprint dgtl records. the label builds on the festivals musical theme of an evocative cross section of the sounds and styles showcasing forward thinking, cutting edge artists. the one to kick off the new imprint will be the bulgarian hardware wizard kink. best known for his live performances, teemed with explosive energy, which for a consecutive year puts him to the no.1 spot of live acts on ra poll, he is also one of houses most in demand producers. kink has worked with dgtl for quite some time, including last years audiovisual installation transmission tower, where the first track neutrino was born. the melodic neutrino , kicks off with syncopating bassline. its interconnecting layers organically jump over and under each other, reflecting the organic character of kinks live performances, where every knob touch and turn matters. on the latter, he built the b-sider dynamo: i loaded my favourite element from neutrino in my computer and i tweaked the sound through various weird devices in my studio, till it sounded like a completely new track. as usual, he added a few endless loops on the record, for the adventurous djs, exclusively for the 12inch. the idea for the dgtl records artwork is to feature a different visual/graphic artist from the dgtl art program every year starting with the cover from tim buiting and his graphical visual of the liege train station, designed by calatrava for this years releases.

the second instalment of the enigmatic olympos series comes in the form of apollo, recognised as the god of music, art, medicine and plague amongst other traits. the a side gets underway with the hypnotic cutter (a1) (ena), that intersects its atmospheric layers and solid bassline to a trippy effect while a2 s (a2) (duo) consists of syncopated percussive elements swathed in blissful pads and acidic segments. flipside s (b1(tria) returns to denser and more psychedelic waters that leads nicely to the breezy and gloaming vibes of (b2) tessera). all in all, a proper immersive head trip. ltd hand stamped.

lessismore record label, founded in 2003 by the dutch dj and producer alexis tyrel together with mbc, has been home for mostly his own releases under all his monikers and various artist compilations. “return to planet alpha” continues in this tradition, being a second long-player of alexis tyrel after his debut “newtradition” from 2011.
“return to planet alpha” is a collection of elegant techno tracks which instead of following the now so popular dark and destructive path focuses on daily moods and airy atmosphere, which is closer to open air and lounge than to sweaty pits of contemporary rave. but that doesn’t mean that the twelve tracks are just indistinctive background music. for one thing, tyrel is a master of slick and tight beat foundations of kick drums and bass, often smoothed out with cool synth pads, onto which he layers all kinds of rhythmical chains, subtle melodic ideas and sounds ranging from vintage synths and industrial bits to organic textures and even field recordings.

powder is an up-and-coming producer from tokyo who had put out only a couple of releases on born free and esp institute when resident advisor featured her on the monthly series breaking through this past august. inspired by her first visit to cocktail d amore in 2015, she was so enthralled by the atmosphere, she started working on an ep for the label capturing her experiences from the party. the way powder interprets sound is extremely personal and unique. the opener hip has a driving sensual groove with hints of acid, seasoned with a good amount of loons and a mysterious foggy melody while heart sounds like an italo disco aural translation of a shojo manga script for a fun in the sun tinged story. on the flip side a slowmo industrial-meets-rainforest groove characterizes hole followed by hair in which she blends many layers of rhythm patterns together.

flumo s first vinyl offering for 2017 sees chocky returning with three original signature tracks along with a remix from true craftsman orlando voorn. higher synth, the first cut on the record rolls out the instantly recognizable chocky sound to full effect. looped chords set the rhythm in motion & the vocal sample provides just enough variety within the track to mix things up and keep you moving. orlando voorn s take on higher synth enhances the weight and heaviness of the original, the wooden bass kick and crisp synth layers provide a refreshing satisfying take on things. the flip side contains two tracks, first of which is seek deep, a track that similarly maintains chocky s signature vibe whilst also paying homage to deeper, classic house tracks with a spoken word vocal.. this track was first made available on flumo s unreleased highlights volume 4 compilation, and it now sees an anticipated vinyl release. closing off the package is chocky s brush away, a track delving into the hypnotic sphere, where field-recorded vocals and trumpet lines create a late night groove aimed straight at the dancefloor. chocky returns to the label and he delivers.

new uk based imprint aiming to bring you atmospheric and emotional treats that toe the line between bass heavy, electro leaning, house & techno and everything in between. the label’s first outing comes from the duo thread. tabor kicks of the release and it’s a motorik workout that combines elements of minimal techno and acid, with a squelchy bassline and moody synth melodies all carried along by tight percussions. dalling is a straight up electro jam, a galloping start/stop percussive pattern, ever-present pads with more layers of squelch added for maximum effect. on the flip brackenbury picks up a couple of notches on the bpm counter - driving proceedings to 130+, a proper heads down techy number with elements of micro house, filled with quirky sounds and lush pads layered on top of syncopated percussive patterns. the final cut on the ep conningham does away with all pretences and hits you in the face with another dose of unrelenting space music. heavy bass line, crunchy electro percussions and sci-fi atmospheric pads rounding off the first release in style.

the second vinyl only release from this impeccable label presents textures of true deep house with vapour rise and the mysterious beings beyond comprehension, a spoken word dedication to the light from a leading authority in the sound healing field, a call for us to find the higher purpose, particularly relevant in these changing times and finally chant of antara (meaning within in sanskrit) a blissful ambient piece created by layers of throat singing and ethereal effects. vapour rises is beautiful, melancholy, meditative, deep house following on from the classics like fingers inc who created the genre so many moons ago. the celestial vocoder vocal version notes our searching for meaning, looking into little light boxes (our phones, computer screens and tvs)

grebenstein is a producer, dj and visual artist living in kassel, germany. after playing in several bands as a drummer and guitarist he made his solo-debut with a 4-track ep on the regis helmed label downwards records in november 2014. the gloss 4 track ep for horo comes after his downwards records follow up strong, proud, stupid, & superior with seefried was released in october 2016. title track gloss centres on percussive crescendos and pensive guitar layers, while self and its version stretch this effect out into a grinding, slow motion introspection. loss closes the ep with serrated drum machine blasts punctuating feedback contortions. the tension throughout the ep is palpable, with the shaping of the tension providing the substance of his signature style. non club tracks for open minded clubs.

this record definitely takes a bit more of a layered approach - natan h offers us yet another unique, immersive, and charismatic release for acid camp records. acid camp records is rolling through again, this time with an artist known for his atmospheric and cosmic-oriented tracks, natan h. conveying inspiration for this record, just a little nod to extrasensory experiences and perception, is undoubtedly fitting for acrs second release. the opening track, atmosphere, breaks away from 4/4 timing with o-kilter drums that traverse into a heavier beat, pushing the track forward just to bring it right back at the end. followed up with a remix from techno serialist, conforce. through his use of a low pass filter, polyrhythms, and fervor conforce delivers a track nothing short of the prototype for driving techno. remote view pt. i turns out an ambient break and taking the listener to a space of the ethereal and planetary. the ep closes with remote view pt. ii, which incorperates layers of hi-hats, delayed strings, and synths that alternate throughout the arrangement in syncopation.

moscoman continues his treisar journey with the stunning snake & pygmy ep.
on the a side lies the gorgeous trance inducing snake in a hat, an uplifting intergalactic voyage gliding through layers of synths, twinkling piano notes and melancholic melodies that skilfully progresses into pure bliss.
on the flip, the pace slows down with pirate of the lost ark. this dark mesmeric number features moscoman’s signature gritty bass style, rolling snare drums and swirling synths all mantled in mind bending effects.
the bpm rises again on the closing track forget the rest, an irresistible amalgam of dreamy keys and rumbling drums, punctuated by a catchy electronic funk.

this ep s lead track comes in form of a deep dub techno aesthetic at an adequate 128 bpm while not neglecting warm and melodic elements. “box drop” stands in the tradition of höppner s interest in musical detail rather than blatant functionality: aside from his recognizable kick drums and basslines nick lays out plenty of harmonic layers and effects such as string arrangements, leading synth pads, now trickling then rotating sound patterns, making this cut as elegiac and frisky as it’s muscular and straightforward.

a mainstay in the underground house music scene for almost twenty years, joeski makes his next move on the mighty crosstown rebels with a sublime ‘tribute ep’ to the great divinity obatalá. the ep journeys through three tracks, where ethereal layers are used to infiltrate the dancefloor and varying tribal percussions, native chants and vocal haunts flow effortlessly throughout. from yoruba religion, obatalá is an orisha, sky father and creator of human bodies. joeski explains -i’ve been wanting to do this tribute for a while now. it’s a creative musical offering to obatalá. i feel like crosstown is the perfect home for it too.- joeski’s roots are in the underground house scene of nyc in the 90s, where he played regularly at historical clubs such as the limelight, tunnel, palladium and roxy. later establishing himself as a producer he began releasing music on nrk, siesta, shaboom, tango, junior boys own and many more. he also runs his successful label, maya records.

repress 2017 , allez! as the curtains come down on another crazy summer of love, apollonia drop their latest release courtesy of io mulen - the ukranian rude boy who appeared on the label at the beginning of the year with ‘unknown to the unknown’. he’s back with a hefty six-track package which is sure to please his fans, and win him a whole new army of supporters. we get straight to business with the first track, ‘rdm37’, one of those trusty apollonia bouncing bombs. skittish beats work off a sublime groove, while io keeps the background full of interesting sounds, boings, cheeps and all manner of whimsical effects, introducing more and more as the track progresses. by the midpoint you’re so gripped by the track that your whole body is moving uncontrollably, super glued to the rhythm. next up, it’s ‘xdt54’ coming through with a deep, persuasive bassline that jigs around in the low end luring you into its web. simple, polished percussive elements keep things moving at a pace while subtle keys and barely-there vocals add further layers to this catchy little number. the third track in on this lengthy ep is ‘mpc13’, a walk on the sensual side. vocal snippets are interspersed among sultry pads, skipping four to the floor beats and a sleazy b-line to create a delectable slice of dance floor naughtiness. this one flirts with you as it writhes around, taking you ever deeper…four tracks in we have ‘zgb41’, another alluring cut that has all the hallmarks of a deep house classic. those shimmering pads, a bassline that feels like it was born in nineties chicago, diamond-cut beats and a general feeling of what we would call ‘true house music’. there’s soul, there’s funk and there’s realness, what more can you ask for?ypt58’ keeps us locked in to that hypnotic groove with an insistent b-line holding things down - together with the infectious rhythm cultivated by the drum arrangement, it’s a killer combo. put those together with the smooth atmospherics plus synth lines staggering in and out of the background and you’ve got yourself a roller. last but definitely not least is ‘zxy22’, a wistful slice of technoid funk which has a delicate melody at its foundation. as it develops we get sucked in to layer upon layer of beauty, from the analogue low end to the electric guitar riff – each layer complementing the other and creating a symphony of sounds that acts as a perfect way to close out the ep and will no doubt end plenty of dj sets, when it’s released. so monsieur io (mulen) returns to apollonia with an instant classic, make sure you snap it up right away. magnifique!

love tool presents a dreamy opening to the ep, with its effervescent piano riff and lush layers of filters and reverberations, which swell and deflate throughout. bouyant yet gentle, convertible on the m1 is a sunny, textured groove with digital flutes and claps, softly ascending through to a blissful breakdown. on the flip side, underachieving koala juxtaposes eerie vocal samples with melancholy piano chords, making for a poignant cut on the record. untzz twelve inch mainstay arthur miles takes the track in a more club-worthy direction on the remix, giving it a healthy dose of drive and glistening keys, all while staying true to the emotive mood of the original.

an object resists changing its state of motion with inertia. what pushes back must then be even more vigorous in order to create a uid movement. an example of the force that embodies this dynamic can be found clearly on the appropriately titled inertia, aiken’s much anticipated return to chronicle. the spanish artist has been spending years honing his craft, focusing on sharp, distinct sounds that create a pure sense of kinetic energy. the title track of the ep bolsters a erce disarray of carefully (de)constructed atonal synthwork and a rhythm section that is set to detonate. it is then followed by “axial”, a track that stays as true to modular miscalculations as it does to stripped down techno, combining both in a subliminal cessation of sanity. however aiken isn’t done there. he continues with “magnetism”, which throws a brick in the glass of conventionality with its earth-shaking layers of textured momentum. phased pads then wash over “soul drama”, bringing the entire experience to an emotionally laced denouement. after the potency of his last record on chronicle as well as his releases on imprints such as his own label timeline and the spanish powerhouse semantica, inertia marks a de nitive step forward for an already exceptionally de ned artist.

ypy is the work of osaka based koshiro hino. having recently released on labels such as nous, his own label birdfriend, and the legendary em records koshiro now presents the 7 track lp 2020 for where to now? records. the lp leads with the slow building, off kilter title track 2020,where flurries of eastern horns skitter beneath evolving layers of wonked yet beautifully balanced percussive movements, coming off like a technoid homage to the fourth world works of eno & hassel. as is the case with much of hinos music, as the piece develops it takes on heavier and heavier modes of experimentation and excitement turbines whirr and fizz alongside layers and layers of percussion, constantly teetering on the edge of no-wave breakdown whilst never losing sight of the rhythmic backbone, recouping from every moment of collapse with total grace.

for the fourth release shaw cuts lines up five shaolin commanders who created their own interpretations of farrons death duel ep: marco zenker, russian duo poima, roger 23 and simo cell. these heavies form the shelter clan whose mission is to cover ah chis back wherever he goes. marco zenker gives we dont make no sense his signature machine funk that decimates challengers in one swing. ah chi can always count on marcos sword. poima from moscow rival with sabers, severing those who dare to cross their path. their version of tangency is lead by a dirty break-beat drum combo blazoned by cosmic synth melodies and warm machine derangement. centro on the b-side gets heavily grimed by veteran roger 23 whose axe is as heavy as his remix style in general. beware of roger! armed with tonfas, simo cell layers par 2 with a complex and fresh-sounding groove, causing lethal devastation to enemy combatants. ah chi is well-shielded by his companions and still unbeaten to this day. trust in the shelter clan!

“sometimes life can kick you in the nads”, says dominick martin (aka calibre). “when life does do that, i need to make music like this. with its tones of hope and gospel-level layers of self-recorded vocals. raw, uplifting, soulfull...” even to the most ardent of calibre follower, “grow” sounds like nothing else he’s done before. yet it’s not actually on the album it gave a name to. partly because its ultimately positive veneer (even though it was written in the midst of two toxic relationships - one personal, one with the bottle) doesn’t quite complement the deeper, more contemplative aesthetic of the album. but also because this is the start of a whole new story for calibre...

roman flügel and andrew weatherall supply two outstanding remixes of phil kieran recent album ‘blinded by the sun’, which david holmes claimed is “one of the best electronic dance inspired records in recent times.” mixmag described phil kieran as “one of those producers that impresses with every release” so it comes as no surprise that two music heavyweights have jumped on board for remix duty. kieran accounts flügel and weatherall to both having a heavy influence on his career. german dj and producer roman flügel is easily one of the most revered names in the dance music spectrum. his take on ‘no life’ is a masterclass in production. flügel has created a track that is powerful whilst also superbly intricate. flügel holds over twenty years of experience, extensively releasing on a number of labels whilst also co-founding ongaku, klang and playhouse recordings. uk born dj and producer maestro andrew weatherall remixes ‘finds love’ and reminds the listener of how beautiful electronic music can be. combining cosmic layers with the ethereal vocal, this is a lesson in what a remix means. weatherall has been experimenting with techno since the 90s, and well regarded as one of the world’s most influential djs. kieran created a ten track narrative in ‘blinded by the sun’, inspired by his experiences in the industry. it was met with high acclaim globally and this remix package further imprints his vision on pioneering imprint hot creations.

tresor’s newest release features bnjmn on body reflections pt. 1. the four track ep captures a uniquely subdued mood that resides at the nexus of ambient dance music, and that integrates seamlessly with tresor’s penchant for restrained and dub-inflected techno. each track on the ep introduces symmetry and rhythm in the form of organic percussion. “overskies- and “enceladus- are more lethargic and ethereal, each blanketed with discordant melodies and arcing synth lines. -hadal zone- is more dance-oriented - here, a sophisticated interplay of percussive elements loop over plaintive vocals and soft harmonies. “syzygy- then brings the ep to a techno-focused close with driving kicks, oscillating synths, and repeating minor chords. body reflections pt. 1 is deeply illustrative of bnjmn’s affinity for creating nuanced and delicately balanced layers, and a culmination of his vast experience.

vlad dinu opens mihai bravu s 1st release starting the audio journey with deep in my house, a track that occupies the entire a side, just like a proper tool should. as the name of the track hints, we find ourselves submerged in deep territory: a tight and groovy bass line, laced with a steady percussion, sprinkled with some 16bit arcade reminiscent accents and soothing intermingled vocal cuts. the deep vibe is crafty perpetuated by several synths at play, which together combine in such a way to add a wide atmospheric feel to the composition. definitely deep in my house sounds and feels more like of a 90’s tune, and while listening to it, one could easily find himself drift into the nostalgia of the good old days.
side b goes even deeper with two tracks defined by the notion of head tracks. gun zah continues the storyline with twisty percussive rhythms and a groovy atmosphere, tailored into a bangin floor choon while questions answered submerges the listener into layers of groovy basslines, swifty percs and milky synths, all put together into the form of a most alive track.

a collaboration with deniz kurtel, the ep combines the best of the pairs shared ear for darkly atmospheric late night melodies. title track * here comes the rain* is a highly-anticipated release, after having appeared in a number of mixes from guy. muted piano chords build up to a layers of echoing synths and subtle vocal samples for an evocative lead track. meanwhile, b-side * an army of stalkers*, as its name suggests, is a slightly faster-paced affair with twinkling arpeggios and a subtle rolling bassline. guy gerber and deniz kurtel have previously worked together, with guy remixing her 2011 release * the l word*. they ve also performed alongside each other at a number of events, including guys first ibiza residency the wisdom of the glove. the ep is guys fifth release on the rumors label, which he launched back in 2014. it follows an incredible year for the dj and producer. 2016 saw the rumors event series go from strength to strength, with the ibiza residency gaining a glowing reputation and expanding internationally, taking in parties across europe and the us. following a critically acclaimed first solo ep on the label, * secret encounters*, guy went on to sell out londons iconic koko camden with the promise of an all night set. the release of * here comes the rain* sets the tone for further successes in 2017.

substrato records features techno veteran edit select on its most recent release, points of contact. the ep is in line with substrato’s signature sound – stripped down hypnotic percussion with deep ties to techno’s past. at the ep’s outset, edit select layers straightforward loops into complex textures, weaving careening synth lines through skittering hi hats and driving kicks. faction 1.1 brings the composition to a subdued close with warm, thrumming percussion that evokes a propulsive ethereality. at its fourth release, substrato has firmly established itself as a techno label adept at driving techno with psychedelic, shamanistic impulses.

august 2016 saw running back release a first volume of live tracks from redshape, but january 2017 sees the much loved artist return to delsin, his most regard label, for a second offering of the same. this time the ep has one track made in paris, and one in london, and both are filled with the sort of beautifully bleak and lo-fi sounds that have made this man such a standout artist over the years. up first is london, a chugging track that builds in pressurised layers of coarse hi hats, gurgling bass and pinging kick drums. it is a hypnotic groove that teases you as elements drop in and out and hisses of static and broken little guitar riffs add some cheeky funk. on the flip-side, paris is much more playful, with colourful pixelated melodies dancing about the mix, industrial drums working down low and steppy synths fleshing things out. overall it sounds like a future disco for inebriated robots and is one of redshape s more party starting tracks.

following last years dangerously good depatterning lp, ipman returns to tectonic to deliver his latest instalment in bass-driven technoid mutations. constrict jumps straight into the deep end at 140bpm, diving head first into pulsing waves of warping, dynamic synth layers swimming back up to the surface for air. as the intro build peaks, the track effortlessly strikes when the bass drops in, charging the techno synth interplay with a sort of 3/4-step type rhythm shaping the movements. impeccable dance floor music that sits in an undefined zone between the worlds of techno, dubstep and somewhere yet defined. flip then for running man, which sees a sharp drop in tempo, bringing the speed down to 120bpm but maintaining the energetic build of constrict. starting from an almost empty space, running man takes an upward momentum, building and layering percussion and sonic textures as the heat of the chase takes full effect. dark and deadly, this is one for fans of sci-fi sonics and dread vibrations.
