in recent times soul notes tilted a little towards more groove driven, distortion ladenmachine funk. snx001 is the missing release out of the snx series thus far. label head honcho kastil joins up with cologne based adryiano, who is quickly becoming one of the labels favorite household names. the signature snx sounds is developing into a dark psych-oriented club sound which this ep represents as never before. the opening track *snakes and holes* is pure percussive machinery with the heaviest overdriven kickdrums you will ever hear. on the a2, adryiano sets the mood with a low swinging bass and some eardrum deafening kicks which progresses into the b1 which is perced out to the max with some 303 bassline drama and distortion to top that off. for the b2 track, head honcho kastil shows off some lo-fi drum action on controversy.

dublin born colin cloughley, aka anodyne, has been producing twisted electronic music since the 90s, forging links with labels such as psychonaviagation, combat and skam along the way. he creates emotive, yet dark futuristic tracks, inspired by ancient machines, experimental technology and desolate landscapes. produced using a mixture of analog and digital synthesis, the fractured ep fuses futurist electro beats with darkside breaks and analogue synths. limited to 300 copies worldwide, this vinyl version features 2 tracks exclusive to the physical release.

tasteful nudes is honored to host the *smalltown blues ep* by christian beisswenger, whose music as cb funk, arto mwambe, and the citizens band has been hugely influential on the labels sound. the eps four tracks showcase four compelling facets of the citizens band sound: the ethereal stomp of the title track, *disrupted*s livewire techno synthesis, the modular adventures of *eddys theme, and a dark, mischievous italo workout on *freefall*.

genial welcomes 2014 with a new release and at the same time a new member in its roster. it is the italy based dj and producer leon who already has an impressive discography on labels like cecille, saved, defected and many many more. on genial he debuts with a track that has caused havoc every single time it got played for the past 6 months in clubs all over the world. king of the jungle takes us back to the past with its old school break beat, while the robot-esque vocal sample brings a flavour from the future. on the remix duties, the label favourite egal 3 provides a deep atmospheric version full of haunting synths and fxs, totally written for those late mornings when you just want to get lost in the music. on the b side, danish producer martinez is taking us to an almost 14 minutes trip with his concealed dub mix, with a deep but very groovy bass and a special arrangement which will keep you going from the start to end.

berlin-based staffan linzatti returns for his second release on chronicle with another uncompromising selection of linear techno constructions sculpted with an unfaltering vision of how hypnotic body music can transcend simple rhythmic needs. icy atmospherics and razor-sharp production make for one of the strongest manifestations of linzattis distinctive sound in a career bristling with standout releases for labels such as stockholm ltd, balans, and his own searchlights records.

affi is a glasgow based producer, dj and resident at the cult sunday circus, a collective infamous for throwing their long-lasting, day-after-the-night-before affairs. he regularly makes his presence felt at the most credible club nights and parties in and around the labels home town. as with the imprint he breaks ground for, koman has been making music for the last ten years with two previous releases already to his name. drawing inspiration from hawtins de9 - closer to the edit work with regard to the deconstruction of previous productions, the reassembling of intriguing new forms dominates his modus operandi and leads to this latest offering. the champagne breakfast ep puts forward the titular track on the a-side, ably abetted by in love and its dub remix love dub on the flip. an uplifting track which keeps on giving, the new release has already been subjected to test runs in the critical environs of a packed sub club and has proved worthy of the plaudits so far received.
