lauer returns from mascats orbit to new york citys beats in space records with a new two-tracker, hands & feet / stigma. since 2012s mascat ring down, lauer ditched city life for a quiet village outside of frankfurt. lauer embraced the space for his young family and settled his creative headquarters in a quaint attic studio. the new environments and housemate, a slumbering infant son, inspired these two songs to breathe a delicate and patient air. recorded during the first summer of his new domesticity, both tracks swell with echoed piano riffs buoyed by lauers dependably precise programming.

jerry williams jr. alias swamp dogg ist ein echter exzentriker unter den soul-legenden. in dem wissen, dass eine außergewöhnliche biographie die halbe miete ist, verlieh er sich nivht nur seinen spitznamen, sondern behauptete zeitlebens er habe nie die schule besucht (stimmt nicht!) und sei eines morgens aufgewacht und habe gewusst, er sei ein -musikalisches genie- (kommt schon eher hin). jedenfalls arbeitete er als produzent, songwriter und studio-musiker für andere soul-musiker, bevor er sich eigenen songs widmete. und obwohl musik-kritiker vergleiche zu curtis mayfield und quincy jones bemühten, war ihm der große erfolg doch nie beschieden. dazu war er dann doch eine nummer zu abgehoben.

mr assister - more commonly known as the drummer that james blake sings for - unleashes his debut double b-side release on 1-800-dinosaur, the london based label and club-night of which he is a founding member. the seismic lead track bala has received rapturous feedback from the likes of jamie xx, jd twitch, martyn, gilles peterson & pearson sound etc and was made on a laptop in mr as kitchen without much knowledge of the software he was using at the time. prior to bala he came up with the deeper, headier house workout reggae drums on the tour bus, using samples of drums from reggae songs.

a kaleidoscope of rainbow textures and rhythms disperse into the exotic soundscape of *tropical*. electronics, real folk instruments and noise-making objects feature here generously on this six-track concept album, blending together a sonic palette influenced by a rich variety of music, people and places. the material was initially written over the course of a few months during what seneviratne called *a beautiful burst of inspiration*. working with veteran producer asier leatxe ibanez d opakoa (electric lady studios, nyc), seneviratne then set about disassembling all the songs and re-working them meticulously, enriching the sounds by adding a huge range of live instrumentation, before processing the audio through vintage analogue studio gear. the vinyl lp comes with download code.
