last summer, the berlin-based producer and well-known remixer chris zippel (who already worked with the pet shop boys, robbie williams or ich & ich) already celebrated his very personal interpretation of modern and complex ambient between zwischen triphop beats and melancholic pop references by his genuine horizon album. with this ep, chillout producer zippel has chosen a way quite unusual for him by taking four tracks of the album, making them compatible for the dancefloor with a number of co-producers and proving that dub is still up-to-date in 2008. the ep starts with an interpretaton of electronic spain recordings producer mangelt: again, a straightforward energy flash between reminiscence and modern club sound, takes on the powerful post acid minimalhouse sound a la steve bug. the dane mike salta turns mirror dawn into deep techhouse dub, and also the schwerin-based downtempo producer andre muelle alias vakuum sounds shows that he is influenced by a timelessly valid unterstanding of dub and fragmented s mples by his version of glacier. finally, the tribal progressive house dub of blade remixed by kling klong impresario namito (berlin), undoubtedly the most famous remixer on this ep, goes right into your hips

d passion had some guests over at his studio, and heres the result! the collabs, a special release featuring 4 collaborations of d passion with artists from all around the scene. the first one might be a combination of 2 of the youngest, yet most thriving forces in the harder dance, take the risk is d passion and italian mad dog kicking it with bassdrums, tight melody and sharp vocals. together with promo, d passion sat down and created the last track of the night, a track with a large intensity grade shows their view on how the last 5 minutes of an event could and should sound like. the b-side might be a familiar one to many. last year, d passion and unexist provoked each other to non stop hardcore antics, and the two tracks which resulted from this session might be some of the hardest out there! bring the noise and what the hell are the best examples of how intense the combination of the unexist style and d passions production skills can be.

female disco rap crew from nyc 1982. the instrumental b is a big one for disco heads. originally released on the universal label. although jeremiah yisraels tap label only issued a handful of 12inches between 1981-83, the tape deck never stopped rolling, producing dozens of lavish songs in discos last days. from the string heavy sugar boogie of jackie stoudemire and arnie love to pioneering raps by missy dee & the melody crew and the fabulous 3 mcs.

charles websters furry phreaks hook up with vocalist terra diva on a track signed by defected last year. the delay in release is due to the frankly staggering scope of remixes commissioned - there are too many to describe them all although highlights include the sublime version remix, the three pastaboys efforts and the quirky atjazz dub. the superb vocal takes the lead on most of the mixes and there really is something here to cater for all tastes.

dave robertson & jon gurd have delivered an outstanding mix, turning the track into a complete new direction, a techno monster which draws inspiration from their the rendition club hit released on cr2 last year, causing any dancefloor to go ape everytime!!!

persona records next ep, >the tropic of cancer< was produced by three names familiar to persona s fans. working together as the thrillers, touane (marco tonni), donato dozzy, and nuel met last summer in nuel s studio in prenzlauerberg, berlin, and started working on music during what they now consider tobe the greyest summer of their lives

incl argy remix !! tokyo s rising star ryo murakami has already put his diverse, electronic sound on the map with the >rise< ep on dessous last year, and received great praise for his track >my soul<, snapped up by steve bug for the fabric mix series, which was piled high with atmosphere and dark, club energy. his next 12 includes two new tracks, the title cut being >down the sky<, cooly influenced by old school house, but also more recent european forays into night music. ryo demonstrates a heavy aptitude for stripped down futurism, with staccato, jilted beats, joined by layers of padded synth structures, looming somewhere between light and darkness. the b side, ‚coke‘ (no questions asked) welcomes another one of ryo‘s extended journeys, this time a stronger, peak time groove which never lets off, and builds around layers of spaced out, pitching fx. brain-tingling pitching synths heat things up, before laying down a super-funk hook that melts on top of the beats irresistibly. ryo then leads us head-first into a series of spac d out, jacked-up movements, characterised by risque, feminine vocal snippets. poker flat‘s young greek maestro, argy, creates a stunning hi-tech remix of ‚down the sky,‘ complete with mesmeric dub influenced chord stabs and tripped out washes of delay. once again carrying on the vibe of the original, but twisting it into an altogether different beast, argy takes ryo‘s warm synth stabs and shapes the remix into a slow paced yet pumping club tool.
