hailing from sao paulo, wehbba is one of the latest additions to brazils techno ambassadors. having contributed heavily to tronic in 2009 with an ep and his acclaimed rework of jim rivers full tilt track, wehbba is headlining the inaugural tronic treatment compilation to be released in february. wehbbas talent as a dj / producer have taken him on a worldwide journey that has seen his powerful, rhythmical and emotive productions appear on some of the scenes most influential labels including global underground, get physical, great stuff, audio therapy and urbr.
sweet spot sees wehbba push a housier sound from previous work, focusing on swaying beats and a deep-edged ambience. the sweeter mix toughens the groove and takes the track into more late-night territory.
brother keeps the vibe of the ep on a deeper tip to complete this fresh sounding ep. centered on an epic groove of building chords and sweeping vocal refrain the dancefloor punch comes from a heavy pulsing bassline.

with five beat pharmacy albums and almost a dozen vinyl releases on francois ks deep space imprint, this dubby and eclectic project of brendon moeller needs no introduction.
chugging along at 120bpm, underpinned by a thick sub-dub bassline and a modulating maurizio-style synth cord arpeggio, pump is a hypnotic slap of deep smoky house with some memorable hooks to boot. swirling rhodes keyboards and a slick piano riff serve as a lovely counterpoint to the swinging funk of the hi-hat groove. forever morphing and evolving, the stready and unrelenting groove are guaranteed to keep heads bobbing and toes tapping!
the first remix here is by echospace head honcho, stephen hitchell under his intrusion guise. stripping away and re-contextualizing the key elements in the track, hitchell crafts a warehouse-style dj-tool that subtlely weaves its way into ones subconscious via a delightful psychedelic keyboard hook.
londons bearweasel takes a similar approach, except with a much more pronounced beat track superbly trippy atmosphere. a top notch dj tool thats likely to be spun worldwide.
all round a quality release with enough sensibility and character to be played for years to come.

saved kicks off its 2010 release campaign with an ep from mendo and danny serrano. the duo achieved a successful 2009 between them with releases on bouq, clarisse, viva and luciano s cadenza imprint. for their saved release they present an incredible two track ep which is set to cause damage to dance floors across the globe. on the a side is yanara , a powerful deep and techy track which builds perfectly with layers of effected vocals and drum rolls to create an audio masterpiece. on the flipside is berlina . just as effective as the a-side, it possesses a grooving bassline, which works perfectly with the vocals that mendo and danny have edited flawlessly to make the track work to great atmospheric effect.

sometimes i feel is superb combination of solid percussion, filtered house backdrops of melodic synths chords and bumping bass, and a strong female vocal, making this a surefire peaktime pleaser. pick of the 3 takes here is the wild pitch vocal version, a stellar floor burner with some great added string arrangements alongside thumping house beats, a bumping bassline, and champagnes anthemic vocal track.

the gang at plant music is super stoked to release the third single off tittsworths debut album 12 steps, a remix package by an all star cast. here he comes features the voices of the ladies du jour, nina sky, who are currently killing it on major lazers keep it going louder as well as a hot 16 by club rap sensation pitbull.

sometimes a label like syndikaat gets many demos from upcoming artists and sometimes suddenly something stands out so much it just must be signed! barnum & bailey are the new guys and they send us a slammer. very cool uplifting minimal style that just works so easily always. synth driven beats with a pumping bassline. its just like that, listen and let the music take you away.

deep a & biri have been involved in the tel aviv house scene for some time. with this 3 track ep plus digital bonus track they give their debut now.
>twisted tango< is the most stripped down of all three tracks and a real cool groover. one of these tracks that grow enormously with volume and space. these two guys have got a good vision of how dance music should be to clad the clubbers in cotton batting. their cool way of transmitting indifference has always been the carrier of sensuality and sexiness in entertainment and it does create a certain kind of peppermint stench here. the vocals stabs in this one work like dubby elements which deep a & biri drop like things dropping out of your pocket.
>mischievous< is a perfect bassline monster... deep and heavy with a genius >pam pam< vocal stab. we dont know where these samples come from but they are luscious as hell. welcome to the pleasure dome!
>hine gama< is as cool as the two other tracks but but a little more laissez-faire fair. we dont think that anybody will be able to resist this bright light brown colour it shows with all its reflections of intensive sunbeams shining in.
this release fits perfectly to the last release on trapez ltd.

dug up from the crypts this one is set to explode. todd terry esque synth stabs over top of some larry levan flavored beats. all the accapella pieces are included and on the flip joeski gets to work and brings this retro house jam to the forfront. with a simple bassline and some dubbed out effects on top and a harder kick...

the title track, lost in shibuya, is perhaps our favorite track from the album. its a very evocative track, a 7 minute journey that revolves around a killer bassline, that captures the trancey techno vibe that made some of the most glorious moments of nineties techno. on the flip side, we asked one of our favorite producers to deliver a remix. his name is quarion and as part of drumpoet community, he is responsible for some of the best deep house sounds of the past years, and is one of the leaders of the neo deep house movement. quarion blessed us with a tribute to mood ii swing that is his dub infected killer usuki shinrin mix.

this is the second release by antonelli for dreck after his boogie ep in 2007. in classic antonelli working method the material here is made without a cpu, just with hardware. this gives the tracks a warm feel and a sense of an older mode of production, but nevertheless the two tracks are fully rooted in the now! stefan schwander starts out with the idea of the bassline as a genre-defining element in music. he then works from this central idea towards an euphoric and a reductive version, resulting in the two tracks here at hand, >disconnected< on the a side, and >operatore< on the b side. they both feature a beautifully analogue disco (if not moroder) bassline, build up continuously without ever meandering or loosing direction - very straight and pushing the dancefloor forward with >operatore< being the more bouncy and carefree track of the two.

b1 is a classic deep and hypnotic chordanthem, slowly building in a hypnotic way and delivering its full dancefloor effect right after the main break.

voyeurrhythm crew returns with an splendin follow up on the ep1 (which was sold out on the day it came out!). and this one might even be better! hollywood nights has a dirty chi-town influenced house track with a phat bassline... think early days of frankie knuckles! megadon betamax did a cheeky cover version of one of our all-time favorite electronic disco tracks... changed into >he cant love you< (he completly reprogrammed and recorded the track!). and ben sun, suplier of the fantastic >when you looked< track on ep1 has another extremely solid track again called victoria park.. goose bumps all over from the first bar! another winner.

once again jay denes and lisa shaw come together to make a slice of vocaly and emotionly motivated music that pulls from classic r&b (i.e. gladas night and marvin gaye, not destinys child) as much as modern deep house. the moustached boy wonder comes in as the petalpusher and gives us his tough beats, pretty basslines and memorable melodies that make for a classic miguel migs mix. the besoul mix is all bassline, the kind that makes you immediately start bobbing ya head like a chicken and wanna start dancing all sexy on the closest person available. what can you say, naked music makes soul music for the year 2002, futuristic funk for the lovers.

2002 classic by yann fontaine (ovum. low pressings) with a deep, deep rerub from west caost favourite lance desardi (seasons). in a very metro area vibe, lance takes the dubby tech original into a smoked out trip of new wave keys and mininimal drums, that morgan geist would sweat on. the flip heads into rob paine world, with a low rumbling bassline and rasta fills. a litle more reserved than yanns normal tech housers, this is a cool track that could easily be on bluem or environ.

mr dehnert delivering! after is succesfull releases on fachwerk and the first basement series release its time for another essential techno release by mike dehnert. after the little hype on the many blogs its another release that will create a stir. lautschrift is probably the sexiest masculine techno track we ve heard in a while! a wolf in sheep clothes. undercooled phat techno drive with a nice mellow vocoder voice, soft bleepy sounds and a deep sub-bass... and then slowly the sexy bassline becomes more and more dominant and energetic and the tracks turns into a killer. amazing track! regelschrift and nano are two heavy techno tracks from the neue berliner techno schule. just as we like it!

with the release of their new single, >you got me burnin<, the long wait for the new track from the dj / producerteam, milk & sugar has finally ended. as in their last single >stay around<, the munich duo has skillfully intertwined their typical house grooves with the soulful voice of ayak, who once again delivers a dynamic, energeticperformance. milk & sugar reconfirms with this new song that for a great house track, not much more is needed than a driving beat, a phat bassline, piano and a good hook.
last october, their previous co-operation with ayak, >stayaround<, reached top positions on the club charts in england. this, despite the fact that the track had alreadybeen released in 2007…

world renowned bbc radio 1 dj gilles peterson compiles a spectacular collage mix tape from the vaults of far out recordings for this fifteenth anniversary celebration. a close friend to joe davis for 25 years, gilles peterson has been a constant supporter of the original and best uk based brazilian record label.

a sick collection of secret armand van helden cut and paste 80s tracks. lots of nu wave stuff going on with big euro samples getting van heldens midas touch. twins of pleasure is the favourite cut, with its pulsing retro bassline line and banging drums. the hilarous ktu track is another goody that wrecks a freestyle sample with ny radio station ktu ids on it. with all the current interest in the 80s, this is a really fun take on the idea.

time for the next various artists ep introducing 3 upcoming producers to the scene. from italy comes guiseppe cennamo with a powerful deep/techhouse track building a great athmosphere in the club. greeck guy bengoa delivers a really warm building up deephouse track with a nice vocal line by julie naked showing the coolness of sunny greece at least mr. carlos sanchez & dj ray from gran canaria! like is based on a deep organ bassline building up to an amazing break with a catchy melody. listened once, you wont get this track out of your ears

the first release on phonica white limited series is from tokyos iori. this young producers impressive work ranges from woozy ambient electronics to full-on club tracks. the common thread is a highly developed sense of texture and arrangement.a-side galaxy is simply lean, expertly crafted techno, led by a rolling bassline and crisp hi-hats, with hypnotic melody patterns skittering off the surface. its a trippy but accessible heads-down affair that has the depth and the bite to do damage at peak-time and in the after-hours alike. urge on the flipside is an even deeper, sub-heavy cut, an insistent, club-friendly groove swathed in burbling synth arpeggios and fx. despite being stripped-back, the sound design and sheer warmth of the production is incredible. the track really breathes.

>smuck< follows in the tradition of ikonika~rs sweet and sour, curdled sound, with ever changing off-key melodies and metal-like synth guitar lines over sweet chilled chords, the track takes her penchant for melodies that border on the atonal as far as it can go, like a sophisticated take on 8-bar grime.
her remix of eero johannes >we could be skweeeerooos< on the b-side simply switches up the tempo of the original, makes the rhythm nice and bouncy and tightens up the original adding some trademark bent melodies and a see-sawing bassline. the end result is a linear, melodic track that feels like its somewhere between wiley and aphex at their sweetest.

aduly only 36 introduces yakine on a + b with a julien chaptal remix. drop it - a jackin, upbeat house cut with lots of bounce to the ounce. solid groovy swing, thick bassline, and some bboy vox stabs for some in yo face hits. nice and tracky, take it to for a lengthy mix in or out, its a pick up. stickney - punchy and tracky with a tight roll for a smooth, jazzier drop stickney is asking for a prime time spot in the set. splashed with a little chi filter, the bassline roll brings the kicker. hot track with smoldering style. julien chaptal remix has a pop-lockin house feel to it with its sliced and diced elements, this is a tight jam. sweet build for a stack full of speakers, could be dirty or classy, either or this tracks works a sweaty floor.

rippertons perspectiv label with its 2nd split release giving new talents a stage. 1st split is a huge release with two sublime tracks by agnes and johnny white. not sure if this one tops it... but crowdpleaser and entlet deliver both two tracks that stand out of the pack!!. especially the b2 track by entlet needs some extra attention... a contemporary house track that has so much hidden power. phat old school bassline kills it everywhere.. and then the tracks continues to build and build.... like a modern dj pierre wildpitch affair! crowdpleaser delivers two solid tracks that went straight into the dj sets of many influential djs. highly effective and useful house tools (a description that actually doesnt do justice to these tracks which are much more then just tools!) ripperton proofs once again to have a great ear for new talents!!

akiko kiyama is back on lmd after kick starting the label with her acclaimed misidia monarchy ep. since then her sound has matured and grown, the flesh got spirit ep shows this in more ways than one. with a brooding sub low bassline & twisted intricate layers a genius vocal comes into play lifting the track only then to be placed back into the depths of the abyss. treppen is a peak time destroyer, sucking you into a hypnotizing rhthym that builds and builds creating a feeling that something is about to happen, strange vocals that sound like lost souls haunt the track hooking you in only to spit you back out onto a roller coaster baseline. sometimes is a harmonic cruise control roller that takes you on a trip through akikos wonderland.
