italian techno heavyweights markantonio and rino cerrone finally name their collaborative ventures after ten years of gigs and productions together, and the name is junction hands. revolution is back is the first full release under the junction hands moniker, following a well received outing as part of the recent the napoli connection ep on adam beyers drumcode and it sees the two veterans deliver some of their strongest work yet. the title track is a pacey number with a reverb soaked yet warm atmosphere which underpins an aggressive, simple and incredibly effective bass/drum loop which gains intensity throughout. sharp sounds puncture the groove here there which keeps things interesting but its the discordant stabs in the break which push things into overdrive. the equally hypnotic and driving thing for hands follows but manages to do so with an increased feeling of woozy menace. synths feedback on themselves to shattering crescendos before subsiding into waves of noise while the groove relentlessly works its magic. with junction hands theres yet another must-check name coming out of the neapolitan scene.

when delorean toured with teengirl fantasy last spring they told us about a song that had really blown them away. when they shared it with us we understood why. it was called >cheaters< and sounded like an instant classic. very different to the trademark psychedelic jams of the duo, the song was homage to classic chicago house from a modern perspective. built around layers of blissful synths and borrowing the vocals of first committees >cheaters never win<, it had that kind of energy that we sometimes miss in contemporary dance music. later that summer, john talabot visited new york and became aware that the track was going to be released by true panther sounds only as part of the album >7am<. something sparked inside us. we felt it was not fair that such an incredible track had to share its vinyls grooves with other songs so we thought it would be nice to dedicate a full maxi side to it.

after another year with outstanding releases such as setimo and nono eps, amigos recordings decimo ep is the first release of 2011, and immediately establishes a very high standard for this year. featuring 3 amazing tracks from dj link, this ep is already considered to be one of the best, if not the best ever from the portuguese producer..with strong grooves and dirty synths, this record has a massive main track that we will be hearing on all dance floors, as well as two amazing mixes on b side.. all already strongly supported by the best djs. you really must listen.

b1: una splendida dubbata disorientata - sexy, slow and deep! popping riff stands out amongst the keys and chilled atmospherics. when it kicks into the main section things really pick up. a brilliant track for the end of the night!

a1: buch - trippy house track. one for the club, heavy drums and evolving synths. main synth line is hypnotic but driving. killer track!
b1: hit me slowly - hit me slowly takes the tempo down from the a side, keeping the hypnotic house vibes going. a slow groover with an awesome bass line. got that outer space feel!
b2: argo - more of a traditional house tempo on this one. focused on the deep popping bass line. lots going on around but the bass is what makes this stand out. cool little samples echo all over. the synth hook adds the hypnotic element to tie it in with the other tracks on the ep. big, big track!

after a few years releasing singles under different monikers, brooklyn producer lou teti launches his own label, tigers on a leash, with the debut >get away< as a certain way to kick things off right. the original is an almost hypnotic electro-builder with an 80s touch, yet with a sound thats still firmly planted in 2011. even though tetis vocals are used more like another instrument than as a center piece, sneaking in and out against the guitars and synths, it s still the kind of memorable vocal line that you will find ringing in your head as you wake up. drop out orchestras club cut is a just that, a cut to get any club moving. in true doo style, they take a great original and create something special, but completely different. jkrivs deep&disco mix takes deep to a new low, with a breakdown thats truly epic. and finally theres mario basanovs remix. a beautiful deep house groover like only mario can supply.

geno records first release comes to you from belgium based dan d. dan comes from a traditional of both classical and jazz traditions. dan also developed a love of latin dance in his youth. once moving to berlin in 2001, dan was further influenced by the house sounds of the original panorama bar. dan himself has continued on to dj some of berlins best parties/venues including beatstreet, watergate, arena, maria, and the new panorama bar. club der visionäre has also been very important to dans musical growth. dan has had the opportunity to cut his teeth playing 10 hour marathon sets during his regular appearances since 2004. furthermore, he appeared in clubs like rote sonne (munich) and decadance (gent, belgium). friends like tobi neumann and dinky got him into production in 2003. dans first vinyl release on district of corruption lead to praise from some of the best djs in the business. the african market is quite an evolved sophomoric release for dan. the title track, african market, is a pulsating but stripped down organic percussive journey. afro-cuban rhythms lovingly exchange energy with warm analog synths and crisp techno electronic beats. the flip side, el baile, is a slow burning house jam. el baile features eerily reverberated studio recorded vuvuzela, crisply saturated jazz keys, and the same pumping afro-cuban rhythms that sets dans sound apart from others.

san francisco-based producer antiserum steps up for dub police with two unique collaborations, featuring local producers ill-esha and 12th planet respectively. his music is a masterfully crafted fusion of influences that results in a sound entirely his own, balancing light against dark and colour against pure bass pressure. showcasing a deft musicality as well as an unrivalled talent for system shaking productions, antiserum is taking the scene by storm. releases on narco.hz, s.c.u.m and argon amongst others have already propelled him to the forefront of the rapidly growing american dubstep scene, with plenty more still to come. on the a side, he is joined by ill-esha on >zephyr<, a sick g-funk inflected roller. skittering hi-hats and tough drums lay the foundations on this one, with the deep, smooth bass sweeping underneath. the vibrant synths weave in and out of each other with ease, swimming around the mix and swelling expansively through the speakers. on the flip he teams up with 12th planet on the massive >purple & gold<. the g-funk influences continue to flow through this track, pinned down by a hard bassline and taut drums. the shimmering synths sliding over the top of the percussion and off into the atmosphere give the track an epic stop-in-your-tracks effect.

the journey starts with epic pads and deep-space melodic strings that flow into rolling drums on the intro, building up into the massive anthem . the drop delivers big, bad, wobbling basslines & retro analog synth stabs that fire over heavy assaulting beats, making this an absolute dancefloor smasher destroying everything in its path and taking no prisoners!
the flip side jumps off with a futuristic atmosphere of high-pitched strings, pads and funky percussion hits while hinting a classic hip-hop sample. wide-open, ravey synths creep up and build into the drop that hits with pounding drums and filthy punishing basslines moving in perfect balance to break free just long enough for the vocal to remind party people in the house what time it is. guaranteed to get the crowd going mental - this one is a banger!

act re act: daaaaark is the typical expression used to define act re act. uplfting synths, spastic latin percussion, and a pummeling 808 bring some light for the harder moments.
ms. minnie: kitty ms. minnie, age 39, was caught saturday evening sneaking a 909 into the club and having her way with the hi-hats. she ripped it up in honor of larry heard before being forcefully removed by security. the whereabouts of said 909 are unknown.
the origin: a minimal bit of italo kit shoved through the hatch of a nasa shuttle (it was recorded in houston, tx after-all) and sent around several moons of several planets. what was discovered is only now being made available for public consumption.

the much anticipated follow up to last years balearic opus >panorama suite< by max essa. >heartache (original 86 club mix)< - this funky early nineties inspired house groove seems to be channeling all the best bits of fpi project yet manages to still sound brand new and wholeheartedly relevant. this track is heading for the dancefloor - unashamedly uplifting and funky - a real breath of fresh air. sample free and featuring max on vocals. i challenge you to not move to this. >feel it in your body< is a more chuggy, dubby affair featuring a vocal chant not dissimilar to e-man grooving. funky guitars groove the track along until the synths lift it up to the next level. trancey balearic synth slo-mo goodness.
