debut release on the new kaleidoscope jazz chair reissues label. first release contains some beautiful and well crafted dubbed out techno by kit clayton with his 1998 deadlock tune originally released as the b2 on the 4-track unreliable networks ep (on silent servant s label cytrax ), it slipped under many a record buyer s radar. nearly 20 years later, now that electronic musical tastes have matured and expanded, the time seemed right to re-present, this lush, atmospheric, percussive work out to the heads, deservedly pressed on a full side of 12- vinyl. pussy clap was originally released on the remote label, set up by charles webster, and featured house music predominantly written by charles and neil tolliday, better known as nail. jorge felucca was the alias that neil used when creating the more dubbed out, techy tracks for the label. sounding somewhat like a deep house take on maurizio, pussy clap was also released in 98, but had since fallen into obscurity, and the time had come for it to be rejuvenated and polished with an amazing remaster by pole for the modern ear that is a dramatic improvement on the original

tor goffer is a young and promising producer from tel aviv, dropping his debut ep in the 2nd release by no waves. included are two big-room dub techno tracks, a driving deep house tool, and a raw remix by tv.out.

ethimms second ep when in dark delivers the groups signature tension music with moods oscillating between suicidal heartbreak and conciliatory optimism. in the opening track why (a cover of the rhythm and sound classic), producer elisabeth thimm sets the stage for guest singer veronique to mourn love s loss, while brian gimmel s improvised piano licks hold strong agains the songs relentless bassline. the follow-up track late features lexx s dreamy lyrics gracing a subtle dance foor tune for spaced-out souls. the b side opens with ethimms love for dub. next is a freaked-out meditation on what has been and will be, while the fnal track done slowly creeps towards its peak, refecting on dark days where light may have not been much in sight, but going forward sees optimism, increased resolution, and drive.

graze minerals possess a superlative lustre, which is most notably seen in diamond. such frequencies are transparent or translucent in nature, and have a high refractive index. tones with a true adamantine lustre are uncommon, with examples being cerussite and zircon. mweapon minerals display luminous bass bands, which appear to move as the specimen is rotated. such frequencies are composed of parallel fibers, which reflect sound into a direction perpendicular to their orientation, thus forming narrow bands of light. the most famous examples are fm and subtractive, but the effect may also occur in other sound banding - such aquamarine, moonstone and tourmaline. scrap minerals consist of thin transparent co-planar sheets. light reflecting from these layers give them a lustre reminiscent of pearls. such minerals possess perfect cleavage, with examples including muscovite and moss opal.

currently two of the busiest men in contemporary deep house, alex agore and james johnston have still found the time to establish their joint no matter what recordings as a potent outlet. this sixth release sees johnston at the buttons for sole control after a couple of split releases and the consumer ep demonstrates a further refinement of his own distinct brand of house music. arriving on transparent vinyl, lead track give him prozac sets the tone with a thick four note synth lead that accrues all manner of dreamlike analogue qualities as it progresses backed by those crisp rolling rhythms johnston is known for. columbo likes the nightlife takes things on a notably deeper path, all dubby chords and intricate skipping percussive touches augmented by epic sweeping textures, whilst face down and they had cocktails maintains the same feel if upping the pace somewhat. johnston ends strongly with the sublime analogue build of the sleepwalker.

>bored of shit< is the first release from new label k!ssa records. it follows dollskabeats debut >zodiac rising / no breaks no sleep< ep, which grabbed the attention of the music press, radio 1 and 6 music back in 2009. an electronic punk sneer and light-hearted grump at the state of modern popular culture, >bored of shit< is perhaps not what people might have expected as a follow up from dollskabeat but either way, it is a sure fire dance-floor filler. the ep also features an exquisite remix from vakula who described the track as impossible not to dance to and guest bass playing from firecrackers fudge fingas. keep your ears peeled for future dollskabeat release >so long for a small storm< - a mould-breaking piece of electronic music that will pick up where she left off. pressed on 180g vinyl and mastered by matt colton at air studios.

morgan zarates second release for hyperdub is a bold and unexpected move for him. he has been known in the past as the producer for leftfield soul group spacek and also currently as one half of the shining, signed to xl records, but with >broken heart collector< he has made some highly contagious dubstep pop, featuring rising singer / songwriter / producer stevie neale on vocals. stevie warns of a guy who is the titular >broken heart collector<. her rnb vocals contrast with a fierce storm of drums and vertiginous synths that attack like waves against rocks. it is a brilliant pop song, with a chorus earworm you might find hard to resist. there is also an instrumental included as well. the third track is >crey bey<, an energetic, grimy 8 bar instrumental. it shifts between dive-bombing synths and a spooked, nervous melody over a rich organ track, with martial kicks and snares guaranteed to get you bouncing.

eric erickssons not exactly the most prolific producer in the world but what he lacks in releases he certainly makes up for in quality. in 1997 eric signed his debut ep to derrick mays fragile records, established his own kass recordings in 2004 and then last year put out his killer someone is watching ep on carl craigs planet e. >love cannot< remixer mr beatnick has been in popular demand since his slow jack remix of hints >one woman army< on tru thoughts profoundly pushed his production skills into the limelight, quickly backed by the 2011 track >synthetes< on semteks >dont be afraid< label, which featured on many tracks of 2011 lists. his follow up ep, sun goddess, has already gained critical acclaim and support from the likes of gilles peterson on radio 1.

opening track >what i do< introduces the ep on a poignant note with its sombre keys and emotive vocal flourishes without forsaking any of the force at its fingertips, driven by the bubbling subs and electric midrange. >fall< then sweeps in on a lush bed of glistening keys, soft vocal flourishes and a skipping drum line before crashing back down to earth with waves of warping bass tones blasting through the low end of the track. counterpointed by the soaring synth notes that flicker above, mydas balances the light and dark elements brilliantly.
