information ghetto, also known as clapan, has had numerous releases on labels like broque, manual, dars records and multi vitamins. sometimes compared to dominik eulberg, he lives literally in the woods, where he has set up his music lab full of strange self-built sound devices. his first 12 inch on pro-tez sports a dense atmospheric deep house tune (apartment 808) together with the swinging >forest dreams< built around a marky flute solo on the a side. backed up by a fine remix of >forest dreams< from jonas bering on the flip! three hits for the coming spring.

internal sync are jackspot and calapez, a portuguese duo that made fame within a short period of time. on fortek their deep techno cut “dif dif”. a rough bassline supplies for the bounce and the minimal drum programming hits the spot. the duo go crazy with a housey juno-esque synth, a floor banger for sure. on the b-side we have fortek wonderchild “mr. stefan tretau” on remix duties. he takes dif dif into even deeper territories adding a tech-club feel a la ame and charles webster. the mix slowly builds and builds. a wonderful voyage.

benny pages high culture label has been churning out the hits over the last year and zero g teams up with benny once again to produce some of the most exciting drum and bass around. >undead< and >game of death< both carry serious weight so much so i have already blown up one set of speakers just trying to review this ridiculous 12!

itongo is batongos alias for disco editing, less obscure, more groovy. not much is to be known about batongo, previously an active euro dance producer who released a bunch of hits in the nineties. 10 years ago, after a traumatic experience he escaped in perù and retired from the music business, during this years, on his spare time he made a lot of music, not meant for the public, just for himself. now he is still in perù, not willing to move back to europe but barely broke, he sold us the rights on his entire collection of unreleased recordings with condition of not revealing his real identity. we will unveil a series of eps ranging from obscure deep to psychedelic disco.

the opening hits of the percussion stay smooth and relaxed, and the instruments come in one-by-one – first the synth, then the strings, then the brass – to create an experience thats both engaging and relaxing. this is the sort of music i would listen to if i cruised the streets of san francisco in the evenings. as >back to the bay< wraps up and pulls us into his remix of >screw up<, we get a dose of subscapes intensity, but its quickly pulled back into matty gs signature low-bass, hip-hop/dubstep fusion beats. >jam like a tek< adds in some vocal hooks to get the crowd chanting – and you are missing out if you dont add this into your mix. deep kick drums, a snappy snare, big distortion on the scratchy bass wobbles, and the vocals all come together perfectly to create a track thatll get people grinding like mad on the dancefloor.

following on from his massive cross genre hit >computation<, dismantle hits us again with his first release on terrain, n-types jungle influenced dubstep label. both tracks have been kept very exclusive, to keep the dubplate vibe alive.

7 year old spaniard alberto pascual is the latest techno talent to be welcomed into the plus 8 fold with vertigo, his debut ep for the label. a skilled dj and live performer, pascual has been producing since 2004, with over 30 releases to his name, all of which pursue a direct and powerful techno style. its much the same on vertigo, the title track of this ep which hits loopy depths immediately. dramatic fx, crunchy hats and tension mounting hisses fill out the spaces between the beats, but the militant, marching groove never wavers. truchas rancias is more reserved: economical arrangements characterise the techno eeriness this time, forever hinting something is just around the corner but never quite showing you. final vinyl cut continuous learning is more unhinged, with swirling synths, dripping water sounds and shadowy voice sounds all coming together like classic plus 8 weaponry.

while lekebusch is a veteran, joseph capriati is part of the upsurge of new talent who have been grabbing increasingly intense attention over the past few years. the pairing of a prodigious new talent (somewhat new – capriati has developed quite a catalogue for an artist in his early twenties) with someone of lekebuschs standing is always an enticing prospect so >missed flight< looks set to turn heads from its billing alone. >missed flight< the track comes on like the perfect theme to the arrival of autumn. the tones are moody and the groove is linear, penetrating and eerily appointed. a kubrick-esque breakdown of pulses and space is the only thing that breaks the momentum and adds a deliciously creepy characteristic to proceedings. track two, >napoli 4am<, balances out its darker tinged predecessor with a shuffling 909 funk and playful groove combination that pairs up with subtly delayed hits deep fm synth work brilliantly.
