with many influences, the musicians of la mano create a peculiar sound, a rock-salsa-ra•-reggae-rap cocktail which they baptize patchanka. manu chao, who writes lyrics, gives to the patchanka a more personal definition: a popular dance with apache lyrics and chorizo spirit. the band starts touring across france in october 1987 and rapidly establishes a solid reputation. a few months later, when the second record putas fever is released, the success is obvious. tracks sung in french, spanish or arabic, pas assez de toi, king kong five or sidi hbibi are immediate hits. after a long live-cruise in 1992 along the south american coasts, la mano negra gets back to france and separates in 1994. its hard to tell the impact of la mano negra across french and spanish speaking countries, with as many particular experiences that people lived during their tours.

welcome to the ska beat!. the sound that came from jamaica between 1961-67. based on the american rnb and doo-wop records that sound systems in kingston town used to play. the american records style started to mellow out while the jamaican preferred a more upbeat sound.. so to meet this demand the sound system bosses became record producers to cater for this demand. sir coxonne and duke reid lead the way by putting the top musicians on the island in the studio to make this ska sound!! here for your enjoyment is a selection of the some of the top tunes that made ska so greatÉ we hope you enjoy the bestÉ.

our first go ibiza compilation has been compiled by bobby & steve and michael hughes and mixed by our very own bobby & steve. it features 28 amazing tracks and is modelled around the launch of our groove odyssey presents go ibiza four day weekender, which took place from the 19th-22nd of may 2017 at the beach star hotel, san antonio bay, ibiza. with over 40 artists from around the globe coming together on the magical island of ibiza, it was a memorable affair and many of the guests now feature on the album.
